0:00Hello friends, welcome to the SeenPod for Kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together, praising Him. Did you know that the song redeemed was based off of a text in Lamentations, chapter 3, verse 58? Here's what it says, O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life. Originally, this song had five verses, but in our Adventist hymn book today, you will only find three. Let's sing this song together. 3. Redeemed how I love to proclaim it,

2:02Welcome to Hide His Word, a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's Word in our hearts. Let's go ahead and get started. Today we're going to start at Psalm 23 and go all the way through verse 5. I'll go nice and slow. Try to say it right along with me. Here we go. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.

3:04For you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Great job. Now we're going to review Psalm 91, the whole chapter from verse 1 to verse 16. Let's go ahead and try to say that together. Here we go. He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord. He is my refuge and my fortress. By God in Him I will trust.

4:05Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler. And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers. And under His wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night. Nor of the arrow that flies by day. Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness. Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noon day. A thousand may fall at your side. And ten thousand at your right hand. But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge. Even the most high your dwelling place. No evil shall befall you. Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.

5:07For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up. Unless you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra. The young lion and the serpent you shall trample under foot. Because He has set His love upon me, therefore I will deliver Him. I will set Him on high because He has known my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer Him. I will be with Him in trouble. I will deliver Him and honor Him. With long life I will satisfy Him and show Him my salvation. You are doing such a good job memorizing these verses. I am so proud of you. Keep up the good work. Have you ever played the game Telephone?

6:25So where everyone sits in a big circle and then somebody tells the first person a word or a phrase. It might be the dog ran and jumped over the fence. And then the next person leans over to the person next to them and they whisper in their ear. The dog ran and jumped over the fence. And then pretty soon they lean over the person next to them. But this time maybe they didn't hear correctly or maybe they thought that there was more than what there really was. And so they lean to the person next to them and say the dog jumped over the fence. And then the person next to them says, oh the dog jumped over the fence. Okay, so they lean over the dog jumped over the fence. And then the person next to them says, what? What? What was that? But you can't repeat it again. So they make their best guess and they lean to the person next to them and they say the dog jumped on me. And then the next person says, the dog jumped on me. And the next person says the dog jumped on me and I fell down.

7:29And then all of a sudden you get all the way around and it might be completely different. It might be the turkey jumped and then fell down. It's pretty fun to play telephone because you get some crazy answers because as people talk and as they tell someone something else, sometimes the message that they're sharing can get a little twisted. And that's what we're going to find out happen today with Captain Naaman when he went to the land of Israel. But first let's pray. Lord, be with us as we study, as we learn, as we open our Bible and as we read about this special story, help us to learn from it in Jesus' name, Amen. In Samaria, at the palace of the King of Israel, there was a lot of excitement because Captain Naaman had arrived. Him and his entourage, you know what an entourage is. It's basically a bunch of servants and people that take care of the livestock and all the

8:33people to make sure that he has everything he needs and they travel along with him to make sure that he's safe and oh, there's just a lot of people that go along with the captain of the army of Syria. So as he comes there, he is there in the King of Israel in his palace and the King of Israel reads the letter from the King of Syria. Remember, their enemies, right? King of Syria had been going in and taking things from the different towns and farmsteads there in the land of Israel and so their enemies. But as he reads the letter, the King of Israel is just absolutely terrified. He's so upset. In fact, he was so upset that he tore his robe. Why? Why? Do the King and Syria think that he, the King of Israel, could heal someone of lepercy? No one could heal anyone with lepercy.

9:35All the doctors said it's incurable. He thought all the Syrian King wanted to do was start another war. Well, look at 2 Kings, chapter 5, verse 7. So we're going to 2 Kings, chapter 5, and then verse 7, it's after 1 Kings, you know, 1st and 2 Kings, 1st and 2nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther Job. So we're going to 2 Kings, chapter 5, verse 7. Here is what that says. When it happened, when the King of Israel read the letter that he tore his clothes and said, am I God to kill and make alive that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his lepercy before pleased, consider and see how he seeks a cruel with me. He's like, who am I God? I can just decide who should be healed and who shouldn't. Someone rushed over to Elisha's house with the news and Elisha was sorry because the King didn't even think about God, he didn't think about the power that God had, and look

10:39at verse 8. So it was when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the King of Israel had torn his clothes, but he sent to the King, saying, why have you torn your clothes, please let him come to me, and he shall know that there was a prophet in Israel. We don't know how Elisha found out about it, somebody must have come and told him, maybe he was walking in the streets and he heard the whispers, all the gossip, I don't know, but he sent a message to the King, and he said, you know what, you should not be all concerned about this, send him to me, soon name and his soldiers were at the door of Elisha's house, they were waiting to see him. Even how surprised the captain was when a servant came out to talk to him. He was used to people showing him great respect, and how could this prophet dare send a servant to talk to him?

11:39He thought that he was very important, and that Elisha should know that he was important, and to send a servant showed that Elisha thought that, he wasn't all that important, well when he heard the message, when he heard what Elisha said he was supposed to do in order to be healed, he was more insulted than ever. Look at verses 9, 10, 11, and 12, we're still in 2 Kings, chapter 5, and now let's read verses 9, 10, 11, and 12, those 4 verses. The name went with his horses and cheer it, and he stood at the door of Elisha's house, and Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, go and wash him with Jordan 7 times, and you flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean. But name and became furious, and went away and said, indeed I said to myself, he will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord is God, and wave his

12:42hand over the place, and heal the leprosy, or not the abana and the far part, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel, could I not wash them and be clean, so he turned and went away in a rage. It was true, the Jordan River wasn't very clean, it was actually pretty muddy. Have you ever seen a river that's really muddy, and you don't even really want to get in it because oof, it just looks gross. Yeah, but there's other rivers, other lakes, that are very, very clean, and you look and you can see the bottom and you can see the pebbles on the ground, and oh, it's so nice, the Jordan River, it was pretty muddy. And Gehazai, Elisha's servant, watched as Naaman turned his chariot and horses around and drove away. His servants followed him, and they were all very disappointed. Maybe Elisha was watching from a window, we don't know, but he wasn't worried.

13:46He had done just what God had told him to do. Now it was up to Naaman, and what would Captain Naaman choose? Did he know God yet? No, he didn't. Did he know about being humble? No, he didn't, but he was about to learn, and it was going to change his entire life. We're going to find out more about that next time. Let's bow our heads and pray. Lord, help us to be humble, help us to be helpful, help us to be kind. Thank you so much that Elisha had that relationship with you so that when people were in trouble, he could help them to learn more about you and be a witness for you, help us to be a witness to those around us each and every day, wherever we go in Jesus' name, Amen.
