#99 Framing!!! It’s about time. We have Jesse from Barbosa Carpentry with us talking rough framing.
About this episode
We get right into with a great History with Manny and a perfect Construction Bone to Pick and this time Carlito gets the talk going and Jesse brings up some really strong arguments.
Then we finally get talking FRAMING!
Jesse is 24 years old and began his career at 19 and fell into framing after a mason site visit that never happened, a framer called and asked him to come in for an interview and that is how he began. Jesse has a 4-man crew including himself, from as young as 20 to as old as 31 and they are really good at what they do and listen to this amazing show to find out why and what happened. Jesse wasn’t the best student in high school but once he began working in the shop class he was able to connect the math to construction and he was able to excel.
Jesse discusses expectations from trades that take on work and reading the drawings, dealing with engineers that refuse to be on site to discuss questionable details and even going as far as having an engineer tell Jesse that he seems smart enough and will figure it out. We dive into hand cut roofs and how Jesse has built an efficient framing business. Jesse has no issue picking through the lumber for selects and has even gone as far as to return full lifts of lumber back because he takes pride in his work.
We ask the magic question, who taught Jesse? There is a great story behind that question. Jesse has been fortunate enough to make his own luck and surround himself with the right people. Keep up the awesomeness Jesse and never stop learning, giving back and making the construction industry bigger and better.
Thank you so much Jesse for joining the show and sharing your construction stories and you have a massive career ahead of you. Anyone interested in any kind of great framing please contact Jesse at 647 227-7783 and [email protected] and find him on IG at @barbosacarpentry for some great posts and videos that will teach and entertain you.
Don’t forget we have Construction History from Manny at the beginning of the show, Building Code Talk with Manny at the midpoint and Green Book Talk with Carlito at the near end and now the brand new and very well received Twelve Questions of Construction.
