97. More Than Donuts ft. Kevin Lee [Gurnee Donuts]
About this episode
Our next episode is literally a treat. They’ll be celebrating 30 years this year as a donut shop. This is an episode about the immigrant experience, finding your way, and cultivating community through the vessel of donuts. The shop experienced a tragic fire in the summer of 2014 and they overcame the obstacles through community support and winning a local donut competition with their ube donut. It catapulted the neighborhood hole in the wall to a household name in the midwest. If you find yourself in the midwest and have a sweet tooth, I would highly consider stopping by Gurnee Donuts. Please enjoy my conversation with Kevin Lee.
