Salt has been an essential element of human and animal diet for centuries. Salt served as a currency in many countries, and people literally got into fights over it. Salzburg, which we know as the city of Mozart and “The Sound of Music” translates from German as “salt castle.” There, salt mines were turned into tourist attractions.
