I don't want him to be on my team, but for the sport and headlines and reasons to get up for games like tomorrow, Lane Kiffin is great at content. Yeah, he's a lot, but I would love it if he was our coach of Kentucky Wildcat. I would be all about him. I think he's got obviously a talented coach and obviously not afraid to speak to me. That's obviously the persona that he wants out. I know, but that is an unbelievable quote. And then to prove it, be like, yeah, put that on ESPN. I'm fine with it. That's, tell about love hot women. That's it. Oh, no. You got me. I like hot women. Couple things here before we get phone, 859-282-287. J-Bat announced yesterday they had the Champions Blue Athletic Board meeting where they talk about the future of Kentucky sports. Two things came out of it.

7:05One of it, they're going to try to do that entertainment district around Commonwealth Stadium. They are advancing plans, still not 100% sure to be built. Tennessee, by the way, just coincidentally, released their plan and it looks amazing. I've expressed skepticism as to whether I think that would work. But I also think they're going to do it. And if they're going to do it, I hope it does work. What do you make of it? They look, it's like $120 million. Man, on Game Weekends, it'll be awesome. It'll be a great environment, I believe. That'll be amazing. But that's what? Five weekends a month, home football games? Five a year. I'm a five-seven, seven to five weekends a month. That would actually might be a successful, that might be a pretty successful business. You mean five weekends a year? Yeah, maybe not even that much. They play five home games. No, they play more than five home games. Some deers this year, I mean, rotate the SEC schedule.

8:06Flip flop with Chrome, five home games and four home games. Either way, but then they have the non-conference game. Yeah. Two of those. And then how many SEC games? Two could be four. So that's at least six. Could be at least six. But then sometimes it's seven and sometimes it's eight. And sometimes it's six. It's never six. But either way, it's not five. Do you think it'll work? Yes, but help me out here. Is it going to take away telegate space? Because I think that's what some people are. Probably they've heard. That's the argument against it. But is that greater good in this case? Well, I mean, honestly, they've already, over the years, shown that they don't particularly care about the catalogue space. I disagree with that viewpoint, but they've shown that over the years. So I think that's going to be, I think it's probably a non-factor to them. I think they're going to tear down some stuff. I mean, basically it will take that whole Cooper drive, which is where you're having all the hiccups right now if you're trying to get in and out of games. I think they're going to make even more of that area filled with businesses,

9:09et cetera. And you know the question is, I think it'll be awesome. Then I don't know if it can work the rest of the time, but ultimately it's not my money drew, so if they want to risk it, go for it. Yeah, I'm sure they've done plenty of research. If the numbers say they'll make enough on those seven weekends, I'd love for it to work. It will be awesome. But I've lived in Lexington a long time. I know a lot of people that own bars and restaurants. And that time of summer when kids aren't on campus and nothing's going on, I just wonder if they'd ever actually have people over there. It's just access. It's a hard part of town to get in and out of. I guess there's a big baseball weekend that could open it up a baseball weekend. No, the other stuff pops up. There is other stuff. You know, you get the SEC tournament crack. I mean, they're a thing. Basketball gives me one thing that I do think Lexington needs is hotels around campus. There are not very many hotels around campus. I'm sure they also think with the hospital right there, having a hotel right next to the hospital is probably good business too. I'm sure that's part of the...

10:10Try to put recruits in that. Yes. You know, so it'll get used. But yeah, I just can't imagine it's a May whatever. You know, Wednesday night, let's go down to the football stadium. He also announced that they are hiring an assistant AD in charge of player management. Basically a GM for UK sports as a whole. Kentucky, of course, like every school gets $23 million to give in rev share. Like this congressional bill passes, that money goes even higher. And this essentially would be someone who's in charge of figuring how much does basketball get, how much does football get. And then working out the contracts, I actually think it's really good hire. I mean, I don't know who they're hiring, but assuming they hire the right person, you need someone like this. Part of my criticism a little bit has been, I'm not sure who's negotiating these deals, especially for basketball. I'm not sure that they're necessarily qualified to do it. Part of me wondered, Drew, if this is almost an end-around on Mark Pope not having a basketball

11:11GM, he's almost like, I'm going to put somebody whose job is to negotiate whether you got one or not, which it wasn't spoken like that, but I kind of read it like that because the person who's going to be negotiating these contracts has been the GM. Now he's almost saying like, I'm going to make sure we have somebody doing that. Yeah, it's a UK athletics hire under him, but if he's managing the roster, he's going to have to work with Pope and not having his own GM. I'm sure on the football end, this person will sit down with knocked-un. GMs will meet together that's still missing on Pope's end. But they'll have to have some dip. This is the person who along with that will be making the difficult decisions right in like, how much goes to football, how much goes to basketball, how much goes to baseball. And you're almost, when you make those decisions, prioritizing what sports you want to win. Because how much money you decide to give them will have a big impact on whether or not those teams are competitive. And it may be different, you know, Kentucky, that it is at other schools. Always will, yeah.

12:11Absolutely. So I'm like, you kind of took it as, okay, Mark Pope, if you're not going to hire a GM, I'm going to hire one that's going to act like your GM. I kind of felt like it's what this guy was supposed to be. That's kind of how I read it. We'll see obviously it'll depend on who hired. If they hire somebody for that job, Shannon, that has experience in basketball specifically. That's going to tell me he's basically like, you can do it every one. We're going to have somebody out there that's a GM. Yeah, they're going to have to work and you just with all these coaches, otherwise it can't work otherwise. And it's important to have that role. You remember when Stoops was here, he was like, you know, it's not enough for me to just get these guys in here as a recruit, but then I got to talk in IEL money and everything else. So it's good to have some. Well, there's also just like, look, I don't care how good a football coach you are. And I don't care how good a recruiting coordinator you are. When you're making a business negotiation about contracts, these players have agents that that's their job. They are lawyers. They spend their entire day trying to get their kid as much money as possible. You can't have a bunch of football coaches trying to go up against lawyers in a negotiation.

13:17You got to have people who know business. So I actually think this makes complete sense. Yeah, I mean, football coaches get their own agents on their behalf. Yeah, I mean, it's around the top. Will Stine's not negotiating his own contract yet somehow we think Will Stine and Pete Noctur are supposed to negotiate these football contracts. It never really made sense to me. Well, Jay Bat on this very show talked about the importance of having a guy like that to run your athletic department and your individual teams. So it makes sense to me. Who's up next? Rob is up next. Rob, go ahead, Rob. Hey, Matt. I agree with your general comments about the, you know, the reporter and different things. I just want to add two different comments thoughts. First of all, as far as coaches, I don't know if you've been around the corporate culture of the tradesmen, but they get cut out every day. And same with a lot of sales corporations as well. Those sales managers are a little tyrannical. Outside of that, I'll say this, the media, and what reason why I appreciate your show

14:20is you don't go to the dark side of things, okay? I appreciate that. But in the media, the general role, whether it's sports politics, if it bleeds it leaves, and a lot of coaches are just fired at the gotcha reporters and the gotchas. Yeah, but I mean, do you think, do you think, do you think, do you think Holly Row, after Texas just won, was going to be playing gotcha journalism? All she's going to get him to say is coach, was it like to win the game? Like that's all she's going to say. I'm just putting up a scowler. I started to, didn't feed like guilty money. We don't know about it. You know, man, listen, I'm not, this, I don't want the show just to be like debating this. That dude makes $10 million a year. The reason he makes $10 million a year is that those games are on television and ESPN and ABC pay to show them. All they say in return is you have to stand there after the game if you win and say two

15:22minutes. He can do that. Like he can do that. I don't think that's too much to ask. Well, I get that, but they make that money because fans show up because fans want to watch it and TV is there because they're putting a product out that you want to, you make it sound like sports is popular because of the media. Well, there's no doubt sports is popular because more because the games are on television. They wouldn't be as popular if they weren't on television. And yes, and AB, that game was on ABC. What's interesting, sir, is ABC is free. So how in the world, if ABC decides they don't want to show you free stuff, you're not going to have it. And it's a circle. Everybody needs each other. And so I'm not, look, there are many media I'm not going to take up for. But like that's a rule. When Steve Sarkeesian signs his contract with Texas, part of his rule is his media obligations. You may think that's stupid, but that's what he signed. So in my opinion, he has to do it.

16:26I get what you're coming from. I'm just saying you understand the response of some of us fans that are tired of the Stephen A Smith and the screaming and yelling and the dog. But Stephen A Smith was not the one doing the interview. And I will say this and I appreciate the call. I'm not, I used to be the person who mocked the media. That was kind of how I got started. One of these days, I thought about this yesterday in the basketball game. KSR, when we started, think about how many media outlets there were. You know where I'm just the local television station. But there were a bunch of major outlets. The Harrel's spent a lot of money, the courier spent a lot of money, the cats pawed, sent a lot of money, the TV station spent a lot of money. We run out everybody out of business. And there's going to come a day where we're going to wish there were more outlets. You know, if we just were tomorrow, like people want information.

17:28And so it's easy to hate on the media. But like if you don't have people reporting the news, then all you're doing is getting the official party line. I don't know if people are going to want that forever ride. Well, you got to have some sort of checks and balances a little bit. That's what reporters know. That's what I would agree as well. But it was interesting yesterday, like how many of these people that are still doing it are like kids, like a lot of the old school media was gone. Like the Harrel leader, think about this. Harrel leader didn't have a team. Courier Journal didn't have a team. They don't have anybody there. They don't have enough people. There's no, there's no people left. Right about the neighborhood cat getting balled by the dog. Breaking news. I had a lot of cat lovers that were very upset at me for that. So I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to pass. One person writes Matt. I have more confidence than you do about against Texas A&M. They didn't play great against Arizona State. Turnovers are why they won the game. I have a feeling it's less than a one score game tomorrow. What do we think? If Kentucky doesn't turn it over on Arizona State, that can absolutely happen. It's just going into Kyle Fild against that defense. Turnovers are probably going to happen. But a half time A&M was only up by one score. Really just like in our game, third quarter blew it open. They only had like what, 240 yards offense. Up like that. So their offense wasn't that explosive. If our defense can play the way they did that first half against Alabama, they definitely have a shot down there tomorrow. Yeah, that'll be the key. It'll be interesting to see. I don't know how hot it's supposed to be there. Really, really, really hot. Is it? Yes, like probably hotter than here. Over 100, yeah.

24:41Yeah, see their defense rotates a lot. They've got a lot of depth. Yeah, see that's what worries me is just, you know, I have this one guy that just keeps riding me over and over and over and saying, depth is not an issue for this team. Stop saying that. Stop. I was like, all right, but obviously the Alabama game to me that was completely obvious. What killed us? And we'll see what happens this week. But yet yet, Alex Safari and Nichols back. They're both expected to play. So is our Safari going to play? Yep. Yep. Coach Dinesd, he's Nichols is playing. Nichols is back. Well, that's going to make a huge difference. A&M at allowing third downs and Kentucky getting first down. We were in a lot of third and longs last week. We'll have to find a way to not have that happen.

This time though, apparently, it was in Bowling Green, which I did not realize that Bowling Green was, I always thought it was these little counties, 14 people in Bowling Green, they alleged that who they got yesterday are the people that supply the cocks all over the state to fight. Cocks suppliers. So why is it that, what do you have to, you have to listen, you have to go to the cocks suppliers to have you can't just go to the cockfighter or all these stories always out of Kentucky. Or do we only focus on the one? Well, that was in the federal indictment. Federal indictment said next to California.

26:44Kentucky has the second most coactive, cock fighting rings that they know of in the country. Apparently in parts of California where there's a lot of migrant workers, there's even more, but that Kentucky is second. Does that surprise you? No, because every time you talk about it, they'll, you'll get messages. Say yeah, we have it here in Lawrence County, we have it here in Casey County. I am surprised it's in Bowling Green must be out in the county somewhere in Warren County. Must be with Billy on Western Kentucky's campus was probably Billy ever been to one? I have to, I feel like I have a pretty good connection to what happens in this state, but I will freely acknowledge that that little subculture.

27:48Yeah. I mean, I've been around snake handlers. Right. I've been around whatever it is you think is out there. I've probably seen it, except this. For some how I've never seen this, but clearly Ryan, it's, it's, it's in a lot of places in, but it's just never been something I've ever come across. Yeah, we had a guy one time send his pictures of one of these arenas. Oh, it was huge. Huge. And they sell concessions. They got a concession stand there. So it's supposed to be a ton of money in this. I mean, if you're going to spend that kind of money, that dedication, just to build an arena, only for that is kind of impressive in its own. We have two Bob and James down questions, which is more than I would want, but he has them. One is Bob in James down a Kentucky fan. He talks about everything in the world except Kentucky. That's a good question. Are you a Kentucky fan? You are? How come you never mentioned Kentucky? I went to high school, junior high, I was going to dream. Okay, but that doesn't really answer the question. My sister graduated from there.

28:49Okay. All right. Well, if you're a Kentucky fan, another one says does Bob and James town sell merchandise? He should. Don't give him a chance to go to the website, right? Go to the website. I'm going to buy a t-shirt today. Louisville plays SMU tomorrow. Probably the second biggest game in college football. I hate to warn people. But if Louisville wins tomorrow, they could win out. Like their schedule is really, really easy. If they lose tomorrow, you could argue that their season is kind of over in week three in terms of a chance to really do something. But if they win tomorrow, true, they got a chance to run the table. I wore an SMU shirt and I'm hoping that they win, although I think Louisville is going to win. Yeah. Big fan of the Methodist tomorrow, 18th, I think they're ranked. Yeah. Louisville gave Ole Miss a game. Louisville in the second half especially looked like a very good team. And if they show up and knock off SMU tomorrow, yeah, I think we're looking at a game.

29:49What is something Methodist we can do to kind of really... What is to go to Methodist youth group and church camp? It's kind of normal. Shout out Camp Lucon. I don't know what we did. When I said the season starts from South Carolina, that's when I'll start grading us in these games. We're starting with two of the hardest in its will. It's first two games, so I'm not going to be too hard on them if it doesn't go well. That's the only reason I don't think. A couple of big games, by the way, for our tier of the SEC, this week, South Carolina plays Mississippi State. Winner of that game, probably has a good seat. Loser might not make a bowl game.

36:53Floor and Auburn. Same thing. It's kind of similar tier. Those are two games that are below the radar, but in terms of how those coaches and how those seasons go are actually pretty big. He got to shake hands with everybody, man. It was a beautiful thing and you know, that was part of our testimony as far as, and I'm married into a Catholic. My wife's Catholic and she's always said that Methodist is fun Catholic. We have a lot of ceremonial elements. You're right. That's right. You know, but I can't cut you off, but I gotta do our predictions. Thank you very much. I was going to like that one. I think that's a good pick. 24.13, I think that would be around a score. Obviously, we don't win if we have 13, but if you can keep Texas A&M to 24, I think that would be about what they would love to have. I think we're in it most of the game and it just falls apart 13. Ryan, I agree with everybody that's what they're saying, but I still think it's a two touchdown game. So I'll go A&M 28.14, my MVP.

52:04How about Alex Safari making his return? Big stopper on defense. He may be everywhere. I'm going with Alex Safari. Yeah, I like that one as well, but both defense. For me, there's a few things I want to see in this game. First of all, I think Kentucky and Will Stein acknowledged this. I think they were thrown off by the way, Alabama played in the second half. I think we saw the Alabama coaches really be able to make changes in the Kentucky coaches kind of got taken off guard. That's, you might expect that for a first year coach. I want to see that get improved. I want to see Kenny Menchief see more capable in the pocket. He was a little rattled, especially as the game went on. I want that to improve. And then we got to get a running game going. If this team's going to be good this year, they're going to have to be able to run the ball some. We averaged 1.8 yards of rush in the last game. None of that is really positive. And by the way, I'd like to see that punter kick it more than 20 yards when we have to punt. With all that said, I think Kentucky goes down there.

53:05I'm going to say they're competitive. I'm going to say 27, 18. We'll probably get some random points somehow. And I think we lose by nine. I'm going to have a lot of Kentucky fans there.
