8: You can’t fight the Fed

As inflation lingers at historical highs, the Fed remains set on taming it, ratcheting up interest rates and inviting a recession. In this new episode of Onward, Ben Miller, CEO of Fundrise, and co-host Cardiff Garcia do a new round of scenario planning, to better assess ten key drivers that directly influence inflation. Together they look back at their very first episode together, On inflation and uncertainty, where they discussed how to evaluate and plan for different eventualities in the economy, and update their outlooks, now that eight months have passed in a very eventful year. Optimistic? Pessimistic? Or… too tough to call?? Ben explains that understanding inflation is key because it helps us in turn understand the Fed — and, as an investor, “you can’t fight the Fed.”
