雖然蟬在你我身邊經常出現，但我們卻未曾好好瞭解過，事實上台灣有七十多種蟬，是很珍貴的天然資源。而每一種蟬的體型都不大一樣，另外鳴叫聲、鳴叫的時間點也都有些差異。維多叔叔找資料的時候發現，草蟬是最漂亮的，牠有翠綠色或黃綠色的翅膀，飽和的色調看起來超時尚的！圖片請見下方連結。

草蟬廣泛分布於全台灣(包含綠島及蘭嶼)的平地至低海拔山地，成蟲期在蘭嶼3月就開始發生，而台灣約在4月才開始，略晚一個月。(維基百科)
