When Kohler Global Design Leader in luxurious kitchen and bath products asked me to be their ambassador for timeless, elegant, durable cast iron, I said, I'm in. Soon after I was in there, Kohler was constant foundry, watching molten iron poured, a namel applied by hand, and the beautiful finished pieces ready to ship. Since 1883, Kohler cast iron has been crafted by incredible artisans, and seeing at first hand, gave me a whole new appreciation for their craftsmanship.
Now I'm proud to lend my staff of approval to my favorite Kohler cast iron products for their durability, beauty, and enduring style. Shout my curated picks at Kohler.com. As the Kohler cast iron ambassador, I say, long live cast iron. I got here about 515 in the morning because we are cleaning out this studio, the KDWB studio, after 22 and a half years of broadcasting from this very room, all the way back to Corey Foley and Lena and Steve and all these people, 22 and a half years, they're going to destroy demo this room, this very studio tomorrow afternoon. They're going to start. They're going to start. It won't even exist anymore. So this very studio, which is about the size of an average bedroom with a table in the middle, and the three of us sitting here, Vaughn sits in the other room, it is going
to be demoed, and we're going to move to a new modern studio literally across the hall, starting on Wednesday morning, but I've got already got a cold and there's so much dust in here, you guys, oh my God, I cleaned out decades of books, and I got here so early this morning, there's dust everywhere in here. Yeah, I don't even think that's why you got here because I'm usually the first one here, so I saw your car already. I was like, oh, Dave's here, maybe because of the snow, and I saw you already getting to work, I was like, look at him, still going in books and things like that. So anyway, it's kind of like a little melancholy kind of a bittersweet kind of a moment. We're moving into a brand new, beautiful, shiny modern studio with everything's digital, and here where everything is run with rubber bands, you wind it up before we come on, and you wind it up, and then you kind of have to pedal it as we go, but it's all going to be modern and digital. That's why Jenny stays so fit. Yeah. Pettle in the morning too. Yeah, that's what I'm doing all morning long. Yeah, the good weekend. Wow, what a crazy weekend. Everybody was like, okay, let's go to Cubs and let's stock up on food because we're
going to be snowed in. It's such a funny Minnesota Wisconsin thing, it's like you've got enough food in the house. Yeah, you're fine. Everybody runs to the store as if they're going to be snowed in for like eight weeks. You know what I did though? I did stock up on quarters and I did all of my laundry. I love that. I love that. 20 bucks worth of quarters and just went to town because of laundry, because of laundry metal. My laundry, yeah, yeah. Cosmetic. Good. Good for you. So roads are not bad. I mean, there's slick spots. So be careful because you'll be driving along, especially like the freeways, freeways are fine. Most of them are dry, a little slick spots here and there, but just watch the side streets because they are the ones that are not particularly cleared off. Weekend in five photos, we all take photos over the weekend. We took the girls to the zoo. My favorite photo is the girls at the aquarium. They're either at the aquarium or the penguins at the zoo. I can't remember. They love so funny because we took them to the zoo. They're three and they're five and they love the fish and they love the penguins. The rest of the animals, they were much more interested in all the zoo's little nooks and crannies and hollow logs and caves that they can crawl through.
Yeah. They were not interested in the two-toed sloth. They were not interested in the great horned owl. They didn't care about any of that stuff. They were all about the tunnels. So anyway, that was my favorite picture for the weekend. All right. So but I forgot to post my pictures online and so did Bailey, Bailey read posters too. So whoops. Jenny, it's just us keeping this thing together. I got mine up at like 10 p.m. less, I never snowboarding all day. So my favorite picture I guess I will give to, actually, I wasn't going to say my snowboarding photo, but I want to give a shout out to my neighbor, Tom. He has really helped me out this winter. I opened my garage door to go shovel yesterday and there's Tom with his trusty snowblower helping out. And you can just like see the thickness of the cut of the snowblower and how tall the snow is. And I was so grateful for him. So that's probably my favorite. Thank you, Tom. Hey. Well, once I put mine up, mine will probably be that I finally did that freaking tattoo to her that I said I would do watch the whole thing last night. I took forever to film it and even longer to edit it. And I had to get a step stool out and everything to get my leg hitched up on it.
I'm out of breath. The whole thing. Anyway, if you want to go see it, it's on my Instagram at Bailey. It's basically a tour of Bailey's probably 15 or 20 tattoos all over her body. Yeah. I didn't know that you wanted to get one that says, good bit. I do want one. That's a good idea. Good bit. I'm sitting there trying to watch the Oscars and I just hear Bailey's voice. I'm like, what is that? My girlfriend Alyssa was watching your whole tattoo. Oh, yeah. Thanks Alyssa. I did a picture last night. One battle after another. Oh, did it. Oh, my favorite picture from the weekend. We took our puppy Ava out and just because she's one and a little, she's a puppy. She likes to put everything in her mouth. I don't know what this is. And I posted it on Instagram yesterday. I think it's like a rabbit's ear, but I can't tell because it's covered in snow. A lot of people in the comments were debating some people were saying, am I a mouse? I hamps there. I don't know what it is, but that's probably interesting picture because I'm not sure what it is. Go see these pictures on Dave Ryan show or on Instagram Dave Ryan show. I'm going to go blow my nose. We'll be back in a second. We're going to cover Dave's dirt. All your Academy Award news. How did people like Conan O'Brien's hosting?
Were there any surprises? Were there any awkward moments? We're going to cover the entire thing and of course the winners if you didn't stay up to watch it last night. All coming up next on Dave's dirt on KDWB. Let's go over your Academy Awards. Run down. I watched nearly all of it. It's really weird to watch a show about movies, most of which that I did not see, but they tried to keep it moving along. I think Conan did a good job as host. He was pretty funny. Paul Thomas Anderson won three Oscars last night for one battle after another. I don't think he ever won before, including Best Director and Best Picture. Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for Centers and Jesse Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet. To Sean Penn also won Best Supporting Actor for one battle after another, becoming only the fourth man ever to win three acting Oscars. He didn't come though. So we were spared having to listen to Sean Penn speak last night. Leonardo DiCaprio was there. He did not win Best Actor.
Michael B. Jordan got that one for Centers, which also won Best Cinematography, Best Rigial Score, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Ryan Cougler. He got Best Cinematographer, Automadorald Arcapaugh. She's the first women woman to ever win. Well, you stole my thunder. Oh, I'm so sorry. I was excited. She was the first woman ever to win that award. It was exciting. It wasn't overly political, although Harvier, Harvier, Harvier by Dem, Harvier, Harvier. Thank you. I did throw in a little something. Conan was a good host. He dropped a truth bomb about his monologue after noting there were no Brits in the Best Actor or Actress Cattle or Category. He said a British spokesperson said, yeah, I'm not going to use that joke. So anyway. Yeah. All right. So there is kind of a rundown on the Academy Awards for last night. Let's pick a random speech. Here is one battle after another. Wins the Best Picture. Here is the speech. I want to say that in 1975, the Oscar nominees for Best Picture were dog day after noon,
flew over the cook who's nest, jaws, Nashville, and Barry Lyndon. There is no best among them. There is just what that mood might be that day, but we're happy to be part of this. Huh? What? What? I don't know what he meant in that one. It was kind of cool to see K-pop demon hunters win because it's like if there's any ever a movie that should have won Best Animated Movie, that was the one that should have won. I was excited and that they did their little like performance too, which they always do the same thing like the tall ones in the middle, which I think is funny. I really liked it. Did you see what they were given a speech and the band just played them off? Did you see that? No, I didn't see that part. All right. So EJ from Huntrix was given a speech. I think we have audio of this. And then I think she goes to give it like the mic to one of the other people on stage with her and the band just starts playing. Oh. Thank you so much for the film. Thank you to Netflix. Thank you so much for the film. Thank you to Netflix. Thank you so much for the animation. And is it? And then she's moving out the way for having to talk. Oh, awkward.
Wow. It's like Yikes. Yeah, they will play you off if you start going on too long. It's like not everybody gets to make a three minute speech. I guess not. Jenny would snowboarding all day yesterday. They didn't see any of the Academy Awards. I mean, you represent the segment of the listeners who didn't watch and don't care. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have watched them even if I had the opportunity because I haven't seen any of those movies besides sinners. So I don't know that I would have watched it, even if I was home. So in other news, Zendaya crashed a wedding recently and the crazy part is it's kind of in the industry because the wedding she crashed is a member of the John Jay and Rich show in Phoenix. Crazy. So her name is Peyton Whitmore. And so she's getting married in Vegas, Elena Haum and Zendaya. Witness the wedding and crashed it and then they ended up signing the marriage certificate. It was a promotion, of course, for the upcoming film, the drama. So the morning show was in on it. I don't know that they were because Peyton, the girl who was getting married, she said, so Zendaya and Elena were the witnesses to my marriage.
And so I don't really know if they were in on it. Something had to have been set up though because it was a promo for the movie, the drama. Yeah. Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months and months over the weekend. She welcomed thousands of people at opening day of Dollywood in Tennessee for its 41st season. And she addressed her absence in a speech to the Dollywood crowd saying, I've not been touring as you know, I've had a few little health issues, but I got where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally and physically, all is good. So she's been seen. She's been perceived witness in public also giving us an update on their health and just they're well-being. Those you can't supposed to this one take talk the other day. I've been in therapy for years now and I am so relieved and so proud of myself. I've made it so far and I still make mistakes, but it is like an eight year process of curing. She said that she has a borderline personality disorder.
She was diagnosed with it. So I can, do you say like well wishes for that? Yeah, right? Well, I mean, you can take medication for that. No, you can get what would you say to someone who has anxiety? Sure. Well, I wouldn't say well wishes. Cheer up. Yeah. I tell them smile down. Figure it out. Calm down, Jenny. Breathe, Jenny. All right. What do you mean? What else going on? Please say they know why Savannah Guthrie's mother Nancy was abducted, but they didn't reveal the motive or the identity of a possible suspect. They say they know why and they said the suspect could strike again. So we're still pretty much in the dark, but at least it makes it sound like the authorities are less in the dark than we are. The sheriff said it would be silly to tell people what he knows because it would just encourage the spreading of rumors and conspiracy theories. Just continues to be like such a sad case. What is it? Six weeks now? Sit five or six weeks that she's been gone. It's terrible. Awful.
And it's really sad. And that is the dirt for now on KDWB. You know what we need? What? We need to sing a long song of the day. Yeah. So you get an idea for a sing a long song of the day, send it in. What do you want to sing along with and send me a text at KDWB1, five, three, nine, two, one? Schools are mostly closed today. Am I right about that? They're either closed or they're online learning, but like, I know Richfield is open, like regular school. Okay. So it depends on your section, your city. I guess. Some are on a two hour delay. I remember the days when it used to be you'd listen to radio to find out. Yeah. And now it's probably you get a text to learn on your phone or you go online to find out. They turn on the radio and we're like, good luck. Yeah. Good luck. All right. We'll be right back. Let us know what song you want to hear for the sing a long song. We'll do that next. Send me a text at KDWB1. All right. Let's choose the sing a long song of the day. What did we choose today for the sing a long song? We had a bunch of suggestions. I let Bailey take the lead on this one. And I chose three doors down. Kryptonite. Okay. Let's do it. You're sing a long song of the day on KDWB.

It's like a... Like we ever really caught up, like we ever really caught up over the weekend of things that went on over the weekend. We went out to Floyd's, then had dinner, like backgammon took the girls to the zoo, stayed home all day yesterday, watched the Academy Awards, just kind of a slow weekend for us. Yeah. That's a new house, Dave. Do you have a lot of like driveway to Snowblow and stuff? Yeah, but you have like an association that does it for us, so. Wow, nice. Oh, it's so great. I'll stand inside with a little cup of hot chocolate. What do you used to do that anyway, while Susan... I sure did. Yeah. And then watch the people combine their giant snowplow and the guy combine the snowblows it's great. Yes. Wow. No, I didn't, I mean, I didn't really do much other than we had a speech tournament on Saturday and then yesterday all of my plans were canceled, so I stayed at home. I did every single piece of laundry in my home. That's what I did. And I went through all my nail polish and got rid of the crusty nail polishes. I watched. You have an extreme amount of nail polish. I do. I do. I could not believe how much you had.
What's interesting too, somebody messaged me and they were like, wow, you have a lot. You know what you could do is donate the ones that you don't like to an old folks home, because they do like little salon days, apparently. I didn't know you could donate nail polish to someone else, how was that? Yeah. And so I, but I also, the ones that I would donate are like the ugly colors that I don't want. And I would feel bad giving that to, you know, Sharon and Marge and Gertrude down at the old folks home. I bet you they would love it. I have so many ugly shimmers that have zero like pigments. So anyway, I have my nails painted and my toes are painted too. You guys, I really, I really, I really was a, yeah, I did a little brunch with girlfriends and one of my girlfriends is pregnant. She's doing about two months. And I did ask her if we could see her belly and she's like, what do you mean? So she kind of like lifted her shirt up and she had these legging things on that went over her big old bump. Yeah. And I was like, no, I want to see like your belly, like your actual belly. She's like, okay. So she like pulled her pants out so he could see it. Let me see the skirt. Was that weird?
Yeah. That's where I tried that it calls. Did you? And if I'd known her, it might have gone better, but it was just, it's just kind of weird gas. I hear it. Sure, you're belly. You have to take a big watermelon. Yeah. Would you do this weekend, Vaughn? Yeah. We did the typical thing whenever there's a storm in Minnesota. We went to the grocery store. It was mobbed. But we didn't go for the storm. We went because we're leaving for our trip to Jersey on Friday. So we were like, let's just do like the last little bit of grocery shopping that we don't have to do it again later this week. Yep. And don't have to, you know, that was probably the biggest thing. I had my stand-up comedy class, which I have to send you guys the link because the class we have a big showcase at the end of March and I would love for you guys to come. Okay. We would love to come. Yeah. Yeah. We're going to work. We're practicing our heckling already. You suck. So we all do, so I'm going to stand up comedy class. I know we've talked about this every now and then every Sunday, we just meet. And it's this, the woman that runs her name is Kadeja Cooper. She does stand up in the cities and sometimes outside of the cities, there's 10 of us in the class. And it's just like formal training to do stand-up. So we're doing a set of like a five minute, we each go on and do five minutes.
It's on Tuesday, the 31st, okay? Okay. Oh. I can't go. Are you serious? Are you serious? I'm judging a speech tournament that day. Well, Jenny, be at an event that Bailey won't. That's crazy. Wow. I'll be there. March 31st. Yeah. Put in your calendar. Write it down now. It's 31st. Vaunt stand up. Vaunt. I don't have anything. No. I'm the first person in line. I'm just messing with you. Dang it. Oh, yeah. That's all my weekend. Consistent. I'm just getting ready. The last minute procrastinating to pack. What time is it at? Let me make sure I put it in my calendar right in the evening at least. It's in the evening. Okay. I got to find the link for those things. It's 8 am. It's 3.30 am. They're putting it in a very slow time. Very slow time. Yep. Bailey. What's that? Oh, sorry. I saw this thing over the weekend and I want to bring it up to you. I think Vaunt has the audio for me. Can you play it? There's a bird somewhere in a white person's home. I'm not talking about a physical bird.
I'm talking about sculptures, little figurines, paintings, just decor. Do you have a bird in your house? Well, I was raised on a chicken farm so chickens are part of the decor in my house so I have many chickens in my house. Yes. Lots of chickens? A little chicken statues or a little chicken. Yeah. Like a clock. And you're a white person. So that makes sense. That's true. The audio says every white person has some kind of bird in their house, not a physical bird. Jenny, do you have a bird in your house? You know, I had to think for a second because I didn't think I did, but I did by one piece of art where it's like a woman in a library and there might be a bird in that, but I'm not positive. Do you, Bailey? I have a goose in my apartment so there's, yeah, a goose and he holds my, uh, keys to my mailbox. So I do have a bird. If not more than that, I had to look for more, but I definitely have a goose and I'm also a white person as is Jenny. Funt, you are not a white person.
What? Do you have a bird in your house? Not one. Not one bird. I mean, two things. One, I'm not white. So I just don't think I do. But I also have only had my apartment for three years, you know? So also, I don't think it's like necessary when you are white and you're shopping, they'll be like, did you want the bird? I know. I'm just saying I don't have any time we have these conversations. You don't have this in your home. Well, I've barely had a home for, you know, X amount of years, right years is a while to decorate. Yeah. But if you're a white person, let us know. Do you have a bird in your home? Please have a bird. Maybe you have a little white bird carved necklace that someone gave to you. My mom has a bird in the bathroom. It's like a little crabby blue bird. And she also has like a cardinal that sits on the front step in front of the door. So we have birds at my mom's house. We've had birds at my mom's house. I carved the cardinal out of wood and painted a bread for a friend of mine. They're sure they threw it away by now, yeah, or they have a bird in their house. Are they white? They are white. Yes. White people have birds in their house. Okay. Let us know whether that's true or not or whether it's just a dumb thing from TikTok. All right.
Let's see the Monday morning dance party on 101.3 KDWB. 101.3 KDWB. You can make this the first. Two, three, four. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on a second. Is Target planning to stop selling toys? What? Huh? If you're a parent, it would seem incomprehensible that a company could lose money by selling toys, but yet it happens. I mean, toys are us, right? There's a rumor going around on social media that Target's planning to stop selling toys. But it's only half true. Earlier this month, Target announced a strategic plan for a new chapter of growth. And one of the highlights is they plan on expanding their focus on groceries and beauty. To make room and streamline their stores and cut down in some sections and offer a more curated selection of products.
Some of the categories that are facing cussing include sporting goods, toys, electronics, making more room for grocery, health, baby, and beauty products. How do you guys feel about that? I'm cool with it. I mean, as long as I think board games and stuff like that should still be in Target, because fan, that's family friendly, not just toys where, you know, they're probably ruling them out because kids don't play with them much. Target's got, you know, I've shot for toys and Target in a very long time, but they do have a pretty legit game aisle. Yeah. Some time. Yeah. They have like your old, like the scrabbles and life, but then they also have newer stuff, like, what's the one we need to stop playing, mind the gap? Yeah. Right. Exactly. Why would I just, there's always people in the toy section. I don't know why they would get rid of it. You want to put more strollers in there, Bailey? More strollers. We've got to have more strollers in there, yeah. More formula, another formula aisle. Yeah, apparently so. Another stroller aisle. Mm-hmm. Dang. Dave, can I tell you that we are getting a lot of text messages about this. This bird thing. Oh, we are. Okay. Good. Because there's a TikTok or the claims that every white person has some sort of a bird sculpture
painting or figurine in their home. Yes. And a lot of people are saying, oh my gosh, I do have birds in my house and I never thought about it until right now because Jenny, you've seen the ones at Target speaking of Target, those little, like, cute birds that have different outfits for the seasons. Have you seen those little dudes? I don't know. Oh, man. Well, they're super cute. And a lot of people are texting and saying, like, I've got a collection of those silly little birds and outfits. I have several birds in my house. So I guess that means I'm very white, says someone. Me, okay. Yeah. Wow. I was right. I did it. Not you, the tiktokker. Yeah. There's so many, like, do ducks count. Yeah, ducks count. Well, I've got a goose. Chicken's count. Anyway, if you have, if you're a white person, you probably have a bird in your house, somewhere. Apparently so. Apparently so. Okay. Can I bring up something that's kind of weird? We're cleaning the studio and because this is our second to the last day in this studio. We will never broadcast. They're going to tear the studio down. We're going to move across the hall. Yeah. I've run across this item in this studio and cleaning it out several times.
It is an autograph book of autographs of people from about 20 or 25 years ago. One of them is Jessica Simpson and this got her lip prints in there and she signed it like 2001. Wow. I think Lionel Richie is in there. Stacey Fergie was in there with Wild Orchid when she was just Stacey from Wild Orchid before she was Fergie. It's Wild Orchid like a desi child. This is okay. It's like a girl man. And there's a bunch of other ones in there like City High. I don't know if you ever heard of City High open the book, Bailey. Open the book. It's right there next to you. Open the book and see what signatures you can and I don't know what to do with this book. Nobody really wants it, but we also don't want to throw it away. Lonnie Anderson. Are you serious? Lonnie Anderson is in there. Let me see. It's so nice to be back home. It even snowed for me. Great. Love Lonnie Anderson. Lonnie Anderson. Wow. She's gone now. But she was apparently here at the Katie with the B studio. I don't remember her coming by who is she?
She was on WKRP in Cincinnati, the sitcom for the 70s and 80s. Oh, she's from here. This one says, get red survivor Africa from, I don't know, X, X, X, X, something like that. Okay. Toot people from survivor Africa, signed it. Some of these I can't, yes, some of you really can't tell who they are. Michelle Branch, peace and love. Michelle Branch. Okay. Uh, she's every day to me. So what do we do with this book? Does anyone want this book auction it off? I don't know that anybody would pay for it. Survivor, another one. Interesting. Yeah. These are, these are cool. I mean, it's really cool to read, even though I don't, I can't read a lot of this. Is it Lionel Richie in there in the front somewhere? Yeah, he is there. In the front. Yeah. So what do we do with that? Vitamin C. Vitamin C, the graduation song. We actually have a lot of kissy face marks in here. A lot of kiss marks. Train. Uh. Oh, train is in there too. Drops of Jupiter. Yeah. Our goal was to have every celebrity that come in the studio sign that book.
And then we misplaced it somewhere, forgot about it, and then discovered it a couple of times. And there it is. I think we can try to auction it. It's got a post-it note that says Lionel Richie so you can sell the winner. So you'll know it's Lionel Richie. Yeah. Dave, you don't want to keep it? I don't. Really? I don't. Yeah, he just got rid of a bunch of stuff when he moved his house. Sure. But now he's moving studios. Of all the KDWB keepsakes, I feel like this is like actually a really good one. Yeah. It's kind of cool. You guys can have it if you want it. I don't know that. I have those people. Oh, no. Exactly. All right. Nelly has been in the studio before, but we didn't know that that existed at the time to have him sign it. Well, shoot. This is cool. Okay. I think it's cool. Well, cheers. What am I going to do with that? That's what I mean. Nobody wants it. Okay. I guess if you want it, then come by and pick it up. Let us know your comment. All right. We'll be back in a second. It's Monday on KDWB. We're going to play a brand new game called Read My Lips. We got Lady Gaga tickets for you coming up in a few minutes. Also stay here on KDWB. This is Julian Edelman from Games with Names.
I want to take a second to talk about something that's personal to me. I've had the privilege of working closely with Robert Kraft for a long time, and one thing I've always respected is how seriously he takes up standing up to hate. As a Jewish athlete, my identity is something I am proud of, but I also know what it feels like to be singled out for it. That's why this new commercial for the Blue Square Alliance against hate, that aired during the big game really hit home. It's about showing up for someone when they're targeted, even if you don't have the perfect words. And sometimes standing next to someone is enough, and you could show support by sharing the Blue Square. Imagine if your Wi-Fi was a little hot smarter and way more reliable. Picture it.
