Stefan Rinke is a professor at the Department of History at the Institute for Latin American Studies and the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute at the Free University of Berlin. He was awarded the Alzate research award by the Mexican Academy of Sciences, an honorary doctorate by the The National University of General San Martín in Argentina, as well as the Einstein Research Fellowship. His latest book, Conquistadors and Aztecs, was published in German in 2019. The English version, Conquistadors and Aztecs: A History of the Fall of Tenochtitlan, was published in 2023.
