On this day in working class history, the 5th of September. On the 5th of September 2013, it was reported that South African workers employed in the construction of the airport, on St Helena, the remote British overseas territory in the South Atlantic, went on strike. The portedly, workers were unhappy with prefabricated steelhuts which were to be their accommodation. It is unclear how the dispute concluded, although the airport was constructed on time and completed in 2016.
