And here's your host, John Chapman. What is going on, faithful? It is absolutely incredible to be with everybody. I'm back. State side, as they say. We got in yesterday. What's an absolute zombie? The goal was to record a show yesterday before sending a night football. The zero chance that was going to take place. It would have been the worst show of all time. We got some sleep last night, but back here with you. And it's so excited so much to talk about the Australia trip. Obviously the week one 49ers dominating the Rams. Some film takeaways. We got some film breakdowns up. Those are up on the 49ers Rush.com and our Patreon channel. You want to go through the coaches tape. Oh, man. It's a good time. We'll check it out. Just so many other takeaways from week one in the NFL. Gotta get to your questions. Make sure to include those in the chat as always. This is episode 1,718. The 49ers Rush podcast. 49ers are sent pretty.
I have to say take you to our beautiful executive producers David Gill, Williamson Claire, 49ers shorts, 365 and Corey Robbins. They make it happen and the countdown crew coming in strong, man. You guys are the absolute best. Thank you guys so much. Showed up strong. That's what we do. And it's easy. You know, you look at week one and it's just like holy cow. Everything went perfect. You destroy the Rams by 20. They were the Super Bowl favorites heading into the season. You know, Seattle gets a win. But day injuries galore. Cardinals actually got a win. That was crazy, which I think is a good thing. I want the Cardinals to win early. I don't want them getting a top pick in this low to draft on the way. So I actually was pulling for the Cardinals. Even though we bet against them. I was one of the few bets we missed this week. We went six of nine on our betting spree for week one. So love it. And the plus category making our money. Long horns. One of the best football games you'll ever see all the time. I was watching it on the plane, which was great.
And then the Cowboys lost. Are you kidding me? What an incredible week one. What's up, Kim bro. Appreciate you guys. And as always, same old. Sorry, S Rams. They are in sole possession of last place of the NFC West. It's early one game does not make or break. But now Miles Garrett's going on IR. He's going to miss at least a month. And then Miles Garrett has not missed four or more games in the last six seasons. Six seasons consecutively hasn't missed that. You got to tip your hat to the Browns. You got prime time Miles Garrett. They didn't take advantage of it. But now they have the youngest team in the NFL. They do have a lot of talent on both sides of ball. They just don't have a quarterback figured out. And they got maximum trade potential plus another young star. I am a little bullish on the Browns long term. Now you got to see. Kim, they can they make it work and they draft the right quarterback. They've got a solid roster, young roster built.
They just got to figure out a couple positions. But I mean credits to them. I think that they completely executed that Miles Garrett trade to perfection with the capital. They got and then you know, traded them with the knee injury, which was known. Rams were like, oh, he's finding practices once before week one has his worst game. Of his NFL career against the 49ers week one and now he's on IR. I'm not hoping for bad things injury wise for Miles Garrett. But. Well, let's see how it plays out. Gotta see how it plays out. Yeah, love being one on what's up, Kim. Appreciate everybody in the chat, right? Oh, we talk it's a dash motion. What's up, notorious? How you checking. Das motion is a thing of beauty. It's fun. There were so many wrinkles. I don't have this in my notes. There was one player. I think it's a lot of people. I think it's a lot of people. I think it's a lot of people. I think it's a lot of people. You know, the data. Just a few notes. There was one play in the first quarter. Wear one I love how much they used Mike Evans in the slot on third down. Matched up against the safety. Knowing that the Rams played so much time they do three safety looks all the time.
And so you kept putting Mike Evans in the slot. That was fun. Like get him one on one. With a safety on third downs repeatedly in the first half. adjusted in the second half, but still that was awesome. Shady and number two, there was one formation that I loved. I just absolutely loved it. You had, I believe it was Mike Evans. My I think it was Mike Evans. He's lined up to the right side outside. You motion, Christian McCaffrey out. He's lined up five yards behind Christian behind Mike Evans all the way out wide. So like a weird stack, almost like a swinging gate out there. And then you motion D bow all the way out wide past both Christian McCaffrey. Mike Evans, then he comes back in and they snapped the ball with the three wide receivers stack. Never seen it on third down. You got a free first down out of it. Just hit the curl route. Like there were so many Kyle Shanahan just taking the Rams defense to the
woodshed schemes winning on the board, right? The X's and O's of it. And I know a lot of people are just like, man, which Kyle wasn't so stubborn, wish you would adapt, wish you would change. Dude, this game was Kyle Shanahan's freaking dude. He CMC's getting breaks. You're rotating running backs. You're not force feeding D bow. Everybody's getting the ball. You threw 30% screens. Like good Lord to say Kyle Shanahan was in his bag as an understatement. The dash motion like the new wrinkles that just kept catching the Rams off guard continuously. Oh, it was fun. Oh, it was fun. Oh, look at this. Vicki, what's up, sis? Thank you so much for the super chat. Birthday show. That's right. It is. I got the balloons on the Twitter feed. Uh, it is, it is not, it's my birthday today. Salute. No, it proud to spin my birthday with you guys. Bang, bang, nine or gang and first in our division as a present.
We love to see. Thank you, Vicki. You are incredible. You are so sweet. You are so kind. She was the first person text me this morning. Uh, sis is the best. You are incredible. Jax, one of my, uh, she's also a September birthday. And that's right. Right here, man. I love it. I'm so thankful. You are in here, Jax. And I just want to applaud you just for all that you're going through and, you know, the surgery and the house and there are people of perseverance and then there's you and my life is better knowing you, Jax. And I just want to say thank you and happy birthday. And I hopefully these trials that you're going through get better. You are incredible. So thank you for the super chat. You are unbelievable, Jax. Uh, love you, girl. You are off the charts. Awesome. Kim, bro, my man, happy birthday. Love all the birthday wishes you guys are the best. Uh, what is your estimate on how many beers you had in Australia? Whoo. Um, if I had to put a number on it, probably the low would be probably seven beers in a day, the high, much higher.
We drink a lot, man, especially when your tailgate starts at 630 in the morning. Uh, some days it was a lot. There was some beer left. Uh, I, I will say that. Uh, but we, uh, we crushed it and I'm so thankful for everybody. And, you know, let me just say, you know, just kind of going back a little bit. About just the Australia trip in general. Thumbs up, man, I wish I would have set aside more time to record. But you know, we had our traveling party of, you know, about 30 people that were flights, hotels, transportation tickets, everything that we included in the four hours, our show trip. Then I had about 15 close friends. Then there were about three very close families that I know out in Australia and my wife came. And so it was awesome. And, you know, I made the decision about a day or two in that it's like, man, these people came all the way out here with us. I'm going to try my hardest to focus and make sure those, those went well. And I think that they did the negative of it was we did too much. We were there for six days and we were just nonstop events, places, sightseeing,
touring, kangaroo, Tasmanian devils, wineries. Awesome. It was incredible. I did not do a good enough job of getting my shows in. A lot of that was because I was so jet-like the whole time. I wasn't right one day in Australia. I, I, I was not right. I woke up every single little night at three o'clock in the morning. Couldn't get right. My best day that I felt is today. I got 10 hours sleep last night and still not right. But that was the negative. I didn't do a good enough job with the live shows and I apologize to everybody for that. Should have done more. But I tried my hardest to like, you know what? My wife doesn't come on trips with me. And so in my friends and the people that traveled with us, which was incredible. What was absolutely incredible? It had, you know, to kind of pair this and I hate to do bad news on the birthday. But we got some bad news. Um, you know, we do the rush road trip and I freaking love it. And then we're going to keep doing it.
We have the home tailgate set up this one and it got canceled. Um, it got canceled, not because I wanted to cancel it. The, the quote of the video that we have was, I can't tell you who, but we have pressure to cancel your event and we don't want to make these people mad. So we are going to do that. We apologize. You know, we had a contract signed, even though we had money signed, uh, they're like, we could fight this if you need to, but we have to do what's best. So I, I hate that we're just not wanted. Anywhere around Santa Clara. Um, dude, it's, it sucks. I hate that for, you know, the fans and so I'm so sorry, but we are going to have to cancel our home tailgate for the dolphins. I don't want to. I'm very, very upset. And I'm like, dude, you should be fighting another venue, but it's just like fighting a uphill battle against the team that doesn't want us to do any events. I don't know why they feel that way. And so strongly against everything that we do and I hate that. I hate that.
But um, everybody will be fully refunded. Um, and so yeah, that will be coming. But I do want to apologize. I don't know, man. We went off their property and it's still wet enough. They just freaking hate us. They hate us so much. Hey, and I, I, I don't know why I really, I will never understand why the team hates us so much. But we've done so many shows and events and they call begging. We were on the road and let us use your facility. Let us do this partner, all this stuff and we do, we do every time. But whatever. So negative, no 49ers, Roach Road trip home tailgate this week against the dolphins. I'm so sorry. I am so sorry. I am so sorry. But it's kind of hard to fight against a billion dollar freaking whatever. Um, anyway, they need it because otherwise what are you going to do in the trailer park? Whatever you go to Ohio, you got a, you got a splurge and spin that extra $20. And so man, happy for Jed York. And hopefully that goes well.
And but man, I'm pissed and I do apologize. And Kim Pro, I know I was so looking forward to. Uh, we'll talk you and I and we'll figure something out. But, uh, I love you guys. And yeah, I hate to put that negative out there today. It was not the goal. I'm not the biggest fan of going grocery shopping and I don't like mill prepping. Do that wave was strong.
That was cool. At the Melbourne Curk at Grab because it's like a perfect oval. And so I guess perfect oval doesn't make sense. But like the rectangular kind of stadiums in the NFL, you don't get that. I'm not a wave guy, even though it was started here in the Bay Area. The Oakland A's was first time to ever have a wave. But that was cool because it was just man, that thing was aggressive. And we have this kid. There was this Aussie kid sitting in front of us that wanted to start the wave so bad. And he was, you know, taking a shirt. He was like a 12 year old kid taking a shirt off, like trying to get the crowd going. He was awesome. And it just didn't work. And as soon as he quit, then the wave started and it was like whatever it is. But I didn't start it. And I was kind of mad because it ruined one of my views of a play. But that's okay. I tried not to be the scrooge of the group, you know, but it was fun. And the crowd in Australia was incredible. Thank you, notorious. Appreciate the birthday wishes. Chapters. I like that. I ain't mad about that. Scott, my man, look at this. Super chat. Twitter and TZ, um,
Crying Kyle is creating dash motion. Kyle Hader still pushing. He is on the hot sea. Are you kidding me? Cowherd say it broke his mid. How funny is it that people are talking about Kyle Shanahan being on the hot sea whenever he already got a extension this off season? I hope Kyle Shanahan's the head coach of the 49ers for his long sea wants to be. And now that could change in the future. But and I say this all the time. Whenever I was coaching, I would tell my staff, you know, your job as a coaches to give a schematic advantage to the players on the field. That's number one. That's number one. Nobody does that better than Kyle Shanahan offensively. There isn't one one better. I'm not saying there's not better coaches. I'm not saying that. That's fine if you want to make that argument. But Kyle Shanahan gives his offense the greatest schematic advantage weekend week out consistently. Yeah, some defensive coordinators have his number.
He's not perfect against everybody. But good gosh, he is just the freaking man. And those there's so many dummies out there. That just make things up. And a lot of those people don't watch the games. Call and cowherd doesn't watch the NFL. I've talked to people that work on his staff. He reads what is put in front of hope that will piss people off. It is an AI algorithm. Like that's what it is. He does not watch like Stephen Smith does not watch basketball or football. They might watch some red zone or some highlights. They don't watch football. They don't watch tape. They don't understand football. They don't understand X's and those those are just talking puppet heads designed to piss people off. I'm glad that they make all the money that they make. Anybody makes money. I'm happy for them. But yeah, there's the bad thing is the dumbest person you know picks up those things and spews those same comments. That's the problem. That's that's that's where the issue is. All what's up, man?
How are you doing, man? Thanks for super chat, buddy. Says I absolutely love the intentionality to help in the past protection. Excellent to see. Past pro was freaking off the charts, man. No, no matter how you look at just the blocking quarter back hits, you know, Brock, he had two quarter back hits. PFF had him at one. Two two players came in contact with Brock, pretty all game. That was it. That was it. No sex. And you had so many guys helping out in past pro. George Kittle had two past blocking snaps. Kalim Plaque won. Jake Thomas won. Kyle, you checked two CMC one. Luke Farrell three. You've got all these guys chipping in and helping to where the quarterback was never touched. And then you look at, okay, Connor Colby, who you went with that left guard and played every single left guard snap. He's the only one that gave up a and he had a rough two.
The very first drive, Connor Colby had his worst drive in the game. And it was like, this is kind of what we've seen. But then after that, he cleaned it up. He missed on one of the stunts that he always misses on. And that player came in contact with Connor Colby where he over commits to the player crossing his face in the past rush and never gets his head on a swivel to redirect back down on the incoming A gap pressure. And sure enough, you see Trent telling him, dude, you got to get your butt in there. Very next drive. The Rams do the same stuff. Why wouldn't you? And he picked it up and he picked it up the rest of the game. So you hate to see Connor Colby have that same issue that he's been having since he's been in the NFL. I think this is his eighth start and it's the same issue. But he did pick it up later. And so yeah, the past protection was incredible. And on the flip side of that, Matt, the 49ers were top five in pressure rate and bottom five in blitz rate. You know, Reagan Morris manufacturing pressures, all those different things,
which he did. But he had a 19% blitz rate, which is barely above Robert Salah. Well, it bought him five, but top five pressure rates. So you're getting there before getting there before. So pressure was one of the biggest issues for the 49ers last year. Couldn't hit the quarterback. Couldn't get pressures. Couldn't whatever. Dude, top five this year. Top five this year. It's week one. It's small sample size. But you did it against the Rams who gave up the fewest sacks in the NFL last year. It's not like you're doing it against Joe Schmose. You were doing against one of the better offensive lines in the NFL. It went in very comes the past protection by far, almost every single metric there at the top. A lot of that's Matt Stafford. But Matt Stafford wasn't comfortable the whole game. And he got hit early and he got hit often. He had eight quarterback hits four times as many times you got to Brock Pertie. And they ran fewer place. I think that's a big deal. Now sticking with this idea, you know, I brought up Robert Sala.
Like I don't think anybody had a worse week than Brian Table and Robert Sala, right? Like the Titans. You know, Brian Table came from the Giants. Went to the Titans. Robert Sala came from us. Went to the Titans. But not only did their team get destroyed by the Jets offense and defensively. But the teams they left were way better without them. And not that I'm trying to bring Robert Sala. Hey, but I was just like, man, the Giants were incredible, destroyed the Cowboys, not destroyed, but handled them. And then you look at the 49ers like completely destroyed the Rams. Robert Sala had no answers for the Rams at all, even in the two games last year. None. This was the difference that I alluded to over and over again. Robert Sala is really good against young quarterbacks and bad offenses. He is horrible against top play callers and top quarterbacks. It's not that for him, Morris. It's not. We saw that. We saw the change there. What's up all start to and appreciate Super Chatman. Never want to hear about Herbert being better than Brock again.
He lost the Arizona and look bad. He looked terrible. I think it's going to take time. The overreactions after week one are always big time, big time. Herbert's still a very good quarterback. Yeah, he's got some major, major flaws to his games and consistency issues. But his good games are great games. Yeah, shout out to the freaking Cardinals and I want the Cardinals to keep winning. I really do. I do not want them getting a top pick in this draft. So like I would love for the Cardinals to get seven wins this year. I don't think the third threat long term. Yeah, they and it was back to this whole idea like. Are the Cardinals good or the Chargers just that horrible? Yeah, that looked like a horrible team in the Chargers. It really, really, it looked horrible. So the Cardinals maybe they're a functioning for access, but the Cardinals always start off hot. They don't win week one usually, but they're usually really, really good and they get worse and worse and worse and worse. So we'll see there. But yeah, Brock Birdie number one in man, so many different metrics.
We'll go over our top 10 here in a second. But yeah, it's big. Now I said we went six of nine on our bets. Man, we did really, really good. We're just going to keep stacking these weeks. Well, you guys freaking keep up, come in, man. Scott, thank you so much, buddy, for the super chat. How you feel today? I'm struggling, but I finally got it. It's my first good night's rest in 10 days, maybe eight, nine days, the stress lead up to the trip. And then I did everything I was supposed to do to sleep because our flight out there was a night flight. We left at like 11, 30 at night. So the state up took no naps. I was so exhausted getting on the plane. And then that 17 hour flight, I was like, you know what? I took my sleep meds on the plane. All those things didn't sleep one second. And so whenever we landed there, I was the worst I've ever felt maybe in my life. And tried to play catch up, tried to play catch up, followed the rules, did not, didn't work.
And so I was bad the whole time there. Definitely just zombie mode. But now we flew back in the morning, which is what I wanted. And anytime I ever do an international flight again for the rest of my life, we'll be a morning flight. Because whenever I landed on Australia, I was up 34 hours straight. Obviously, I'm supposed to be whatever. Whenever I landed here in California, I was up like 25 hours straight, which was not good, but not like what 34 hours straight. Well, I was delusional man getting there. And so I think it's how you make it type of a thing. But I'm feeling better now. Still not right. The wife and I still sluggish, very sluggish to say the least. And maybe even after the show, I might take a nap just because I'm trying to put out all the energy I got because I love this. This is awesome. But yeah, still not right. Now, second part of Scott's ESPN says 40 miners might have jet lag for two months because of how far they have to travel, not choking. They literally had to do say that. Dude, it affects people differently.
There were people that were on our trip that were on the same flight, older, younger, skinnier, larger, male, female, whatever. I think I did worse than almost anybody. So like it affects everybody differently. Some people can sleep on flights. Just can't. It does affect your body. Now, I'm not sure about the months thing and all that. Maybe the Rams are going to be in that situation. But now, I think the Niner's going to be all right. But yeah, I hope that they do something in Australia again. I want them to find another stadium. I don't think there is another spot that they can. Not at a cricket ground. And now they know like, dude, the people that paid the most for their tickets that got down low had the worst time. There were some negatives. There were some negatives to it. And they're going to be traveling hiccups. There's no doubt about that. But whenever you see the community and all those people, there are probably 100,000 new 49ers fans.
Like, I'm just making up a number. Every single like Australians are kind. Melbourne is a talkative, very friendly town. So, you know, the wife and I, we went to France for our 20th anniversary. It's going from France to Australia, wholly cow. That's two different species. Every single day, we would just be walking down the street, not even in a large group. Sometimes, Randall people, hi, what are you guys doing here? Like, oh, you're from California. And just literally, you're walking past each other on a busy street downtown. And so many kind people, you're at a restaurant. Everybody's coming up and saying hi. Where are you from? What do you think of our city? Try this place. You should go here. Can we buy you a beer? Like, the communal aspect that was down there was often felt like the south. But maybe a little bit more genuine. It was cool, man. I have said this on this show several times. I have two fan goals left like that.
I'm going to cherish. I never want to miss an international 49ers game again. And I mean that. And I'm never going to miss a 49ers Cowboys game. If I can control it and it's in my means, obviously, I don't know how long this show's going to last. I mean, shoot, we're 1700 episodes in 10 years in. But I hope it continues. One day, the nighters are going to shut us down. I'm pretty positive of that. But we'll see whatever happens. They hate us. They hate us because they hate us. But I love them. But yeah, international games are where it's at. It is a chore. It is a challenge. It is exhausting. But we're going to be in Mexico City. And we're going to keep going. So 49ers Rush Road Trip. We're going to come party with us. We're still going to be in Seattle. We're still going to be in Dallas. We're going to be in Atlanta. We're going to be in Los Angeles for the Chargers Thursday game. And we're going to be in Mexico City. Those are the games we got left. So we're just going to keep stacking them. 49ers Rush Road Trip. Com those tickets are up now. They're cheaper now than they will be at any point. Oh, man, you're the man Scott.
Big tone. My man coming in. Super chat. Renardo looked good. Yes. Renardo looked great. Renardo looked as he looked all training camp. The only negative to Renardo Green was whenever you had that hamstring injury against Brendan Thompson whenever he went deep. That was it. The only negative all training camp for Renardo Green was the hamstring injury and how could Jack Jones look. That was that those were the only things like man. If he misses time, Jack Jones gets out there. Looks great. Is he going to get his job back? I know you can't lose your job because of injury, but you don't take a plus level starter off the field. Jack Jones looks like that. It shout out to Raheem for coming up with that dime set, which I love that again, we talk schematics. Kyle Shanahan, you look at schematics defensively. Raheem Morris, that dime package. You did eight plays where you had, you took drake green law off the field. So you only had one backer. So you're four, one, four defensive linemen, one backer.
You had four corners and two safeties. You had your outside corners, Jack Jones and Renardo Green. You kicked Dimo inside with Upton inside on the other side and your two safeties. Dude, Rams couldn't do anything. Couldn't do anything. You can say unbelievable coverage. And Renardo Green just looks awesome. Big tone, back to your comment. DBS looked aggressive. He baited Stafford into that pick. Hope to see you Sunday and see go lay in the wood out there for sure. You know, the DBS looked awesome. And so like here was my notes for today after going through the tape. Fred Warner is the best player on the team and the best player on the field. For the Rams or 49ers, he was by far the best player. The most consistent player, the most impactful player. I mean, just on the very first play, he gets a pass break up, gets a tackle in the second down and then third down, you know, like he ended the first drive by himself. The punch out later. He almost had another punch out.
Pass, run game, turnovers, leadership. Fred Warner was the best player. You could argue one of the best players in a fell obviously. Just crazy. Like he was the player of the game. Period. Now I was like, so then I was like, okay, well, how do I want to highlight some other guys? And so I went with most consistent. The other runner up player of the games or just most consistent, no negatives consistently. And a lot of defensive backs up to Stout, Marquis Segal, up to Stout was on fire. He didn't play a whole lot of snaps. I think like 35, 36 maybe. A 36. There we go. So like 61 defensive snaps. He played 36. I want more up to Stout. He's my cowbell. You just need more of it. I want more. Got a fever. The only prescription is more up to Stout.
He was just so damn good. Yeah, Ronaldo Green, Marquis Segal. Marquis Segal was fire, dude. And we saw it all preseason and all training camp. He's where he needs to be at all times. Johnny on the spot to the point there were several plays where Stafford's first read is reading Marquis Segal. And he just moves off the read every time. He was never targeted. They never threw the ball to anybody. Marquis Segal was responsible for the zone or man he was responsible for. Never targeted him because he's always where he needs to be. One of the best tacklers had no missed tackles. He had five tackles, no missed tackles. One solo runstop never targeted. Played every snap 61 spots. Other consistent players on offense to Marquis Robinson, Holy Cow, number 11. And you know, we haven't really talked much about to Sean Striblin. With that deltoid issue on his ankle.
Kind of treated like a high ankle sprain seems to be what everybody's saying. So you're thinking kind of that six to eight weeks. I think he's going to miss a month plus. But to Marquis Robinson taking those snaps like that's you lose the explosiveness. And I know somebody's like wait a second, wasn't the huge touchdown play to Marquis Robinson? Yes, it was. You lose the after the catch explosiveness. But the consistency of the Marquis Robinson's there. And I'm just going to constantly just be like. I remember a lot of people calling for to Marquis Robinson. He wasn't even going to make the 53. And I that was insanity to me. And I push back against it every single time on this show. Anybody say to Marquis Robinson, they make this roster. They need to not have credentials because that's just stupid. And I think we saw. Do balled out. Do balled out consistently in the run game, the past game. He played all three wide receiver positions. Dude was just out there doing every take it.
If you look at the run blocking grade, Marquis Robinson had the second highest run blocking grade on the whole damn team. Colton McKibbitts was the only one that had him better. To Marquis Robinson is a complete package plays all three. And he had the most biggest explosive play of the game. Like to Marquis Robinson, consistent, awesome, gets the damn job done. I absolute waste. They didn't get him involved in the game playing last year in Dominique Poonie. I thought Dominique Poonie played really well. Now Dominique Poonie's two worst games of his career was against Kobe Turner in the Los Angeles Rams. Dude went out there and just had a day. Had a day. He had 82.7 past blocking grade. Dominique Poonie, highest on the team. Trent Williams, second with the 75 Luke Farrell. Almost made my all consistency. He did not. But I would be remiss if look, we want to trash Luke Farrell. Rightfully so last year was bad.
Dude was good. Dude was good. If you get good Luke Farrell play weekend and week out. Now the flip side of this is Luke Farrell's best games last year were always when he got to play next to George Kittle. George Kittle played 30 out of 65 snaps a little less than half. George Kittle looked good. Blocky looked great. The explosiveness on the routes. Didn't look like typical George, but still look better than anybody else we had. But yeah, those are my consistency guys. Thank you big tone right here. All from or this is my man. What's up buddy? I remember sitting next to him. I think it was the Tampa Bay game. Yeah, just want to say what's up Eric. Appreciate you man. Thank you for the super chat. Happy birthday to the goat JC. Thank you man. Hopefully get to see you with some other UK faithful when we visit for the Raiders and Cowboys game. Yeah, I 100% will be at the Cowboys game. The Raiders game I'm planning on being there.
I do have a family issue. I'm trying to get rescheduled. Ron Burgundy, but yeah, we'll be there. Yeah, so I appreciate everybody. The comments just on the again, if you're just joining us. The home tailgate did get canceled. They got pressured by somebody they could not mention to. Yeah, anyway, so our dolphins game. Everybody's going to be refunded. I wanted to announce it on the show first before everybody got that email. Things are out of your control control. What you can control move on. All we're going to do is fight for the community and fans. I hate that other people hate that. And that's what it is. Plan is still to go to the game. Yes, it's so. So that is the plan. I will talk to you guys. Yeah, I hate it, man. I don't understand it. It's frustrating. All what's up, man? Appreciate you put it.
Got to say, buddy, for the trailer parks at Ohio, you got to. You got to. Look at this. Shout out to my man, Brad. Big red. He says he's Dallas guy. He's over in 40. He says better news cowgirls lost. The tire Dallas is crying on the AM radio. I do miss living in Texas. Listen into the radio after Cowboys losses. Love it. Love it. Love it. Love it. Love it. You guys are the best. Love you guys, man. You all cracked me up. The chat I'm so sorry. I've been just terrible. Not neglecting the chat. Sometimes I can't keep up. And yeah, we do with that what you will. Right here. Steve, what's up? I appreciate you, buddy. Do you think the 49ers consider putting scribbling on IR and bringing back Christian Kirk or elevate walkins? Walkins is on the 53. He was a healthy scratch like we predicted he would be. Christian Kirk cannot come back until after week four. He's already returned designated to IR.
I think that the answer is easy. You elevated cadarral. Hodge. I think walkins might not be a healthy scratch this upcoming week. He gives you some depth. The problem with walkins is he can't play special teams to save his life. And so you have a back into the roster guy that just can't play special teams. Cadarral Hodge probably going to be elevated again. Maybe even you put it. Maybe even you elevate cadarral Hodge to the 53. And you still make Jordan walkins a healthy scratch. That's kind of how bad he's been. He can run routes, but he can't block and he can't play special teams. It's hard to have that on the 53. So cadarral Hodge is probably the answer. For now, you look at see what else is out there, but bring somebody in the practice squad. See, I think I think cadarral Hodge, who was awesome on special teams, was awesome. Did Hodge play any snaps offensively? He did not. Yeah, he did. He played one snap. It was probably the kneel down at the end. But cadarral Hodge is consistent. He's a backup. I would much rather have cadarral Hodge taking wide receiver snaps in Jordan walkins.
If you don't throw the ball to Jordan walkins, he's a negative. If you are going to throw him the ball, he's a positive. But can't go deep. Can't block. Can't do any of those things. So stripling, I do expect to go on IR. I do. I really, it. Jake Tonge is 100%. I think Tonge this year might be over. We'll find out Wednesday. We'll find out Wednesday. Maybe a little bit early, but probably Wednesday. Yeah, right here, shout out to Nitoria. There's been a lot of love for to Marcus Robinson in this chat. In this channel. Right. Rightfully so there should be everywhere. Should be everywhere. Yeah, and again, right here, I think Jake Tonge is probably done for the year. I hope not. But probably Jake Brindle. Yeah, Jake Brindle had a good game, especially in the first quarter. You know, highlighted a couple of his plays in the video breakdown. That's up on the 49ers rush.com. Every single play offense defense special teams. That's up. That is up right now. You want to learn football. You want our bets of the week. You want all of those things.
You got to go to the 49ers rush.com. Our Patreon channel. I painted. I really see the tape. You got to see the tape to really see what it looks like. And I'll see a close friend film. The things that we saw and tape. The things that we require. I hope you look the same on tape. Get better from the tape before. I hope now some good film on this guy's and we'll get to that soon as we get on the plane. If the 49ers coaches and players have to watch the tape, what do you think you need to do? Well, guess what? We got the tape. The 49ers rush.com and our Patreon channel. Patreon.com slash 49ers rush podcasts. We have every offensive defense and special teams play outlined in all 22 and in zone coaches tape to go through and show you play by play. What this guy did wrong. What this guy did right? Plus we have monthly zoom hangouts. We place our monthly bets. Weekly bets, season long bets, all on there. If you want to be a better fan,
you want to understand football better, guess what? The 49ers rush.com is the place to go. I love it. The tape. That's where it is. Appreciate you so much. It's not. Our dash and cheat motion. No cheat motion. Well, one's kind of out ones in. Similar motions are used to create better angles and to tip what the defenses drops are. To give the quarterbacks is to split second read beforehand in the past game. And the run game is to give you better angles and to give you better numbers. Most run game, and we talk about this on the 49ers rush.com and our football 101 series. It's a simple numbers game. Center over how many run box defenders do we have? One, two, three, four. Center over to the left. One, two, three, four, five. We're going to run it to the less number side. It's just integers, right? It's very, very simple. The cheat motions. Going to give Kyle use check or Christian McAfry
or a tight end a little bit better blocking angle to get outside of the run game. The dash motion is inside where the player is outside at the tight end or H back position. And then they dash back to the traditional full back thing. Get a little bit of a running head start before the defense aligns over, creates better blocking windows. And just gets defenders eyes moving left to right instead of their keys. It's distracting. It's eye candy. It's all those things. It's just innovation. And Kyle Shanann's better at it than anybody. I would argue probably the second best player or coach at it might be Daniel, which works if you have a lot of speed. I have the chargers might take some time. But Shanahan's been here for 10 years in the same building with the same players. And shoot, he said 10 years now of George Kittle and Kyle use check. There are the guys that move the most. Depot. Those are the guys who move the most. So it can work. And it just gives you a better leverage numbers
and gives Brock party the answers to the test before the play even starts. Oh, that means this man. Oh, that means, you know, we're running zone here. That means that guy can't play it's because if he's shifting over there's no flat defender now. There's nobody that's going to be there. All those different things. So it's they're different. But it's just tells it just gives away answers consistently. Notorious. What's up, man? Chapters, who's rusty? I want to shake his hand for the best jersey in the stadium. If you've ever been to a 49ers rush event, rusty is almost there all the time. He is the best of the best. The viral video of him going out there with the number 44 jersey. It says, uh, Rathman use check. It's like back to back. It's incredible. Rusty deserves a retired fireman. Salted the earth. One of the greatest humans I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. And man can he party. So he's going to be at a lot of our events this year. So hopefully notorious when we do get to meet together. Rusty deserves handshake.
All around. He is the best of the best. And I truly believe that y'all sick. Speaking of best of the best, says you completely consistently bring it up. $140 is why the home tailgate got canceled. Yeah, maybe they canceled our tailgates before I brought that new about 140. This tailgate was canceled afterwards, but yeah, they're going to cancel it. Might as well just. I really want to buy a J. York jersey and put 140 on it. Like put York is the back name and then 140 is the player numbers. And like, I don't want a ruffle feathers, but it's like, dude, that's funny. And I think I'm going to start wearing it to games. So do with that what you will. Now a couple players, you know, we highlighted the positives, the consistent, the players of the games, the two biggest negative players. Jair Brown. I mean, come on. Let's be honest, the biggest play, the two biggest plays the Rams had on offense were both on Jair Brown. This constant continuous.
If the opposing team puts together highlight rails, play of the Diders number 27 is predominantly featured in there. And they're touched down in the Puka play. Overall, I don't think Jair Brown had a bad game, but led the team in Miss Tackles. Two biggest plays where it gets them. Yeah, not good. Just not good. I don't think Grace at all had a good game either. I thought Grace at all had a really bad game. He's kind of being thrust into playing time because of the Alfred Collins injury, the CJ West injury, like the James Thompson junior injury, shoot like Grace and Halton was injured. I still have a lot of hope, but too got bullied when he was in there consistently and Ramello Hyde. Ramello Hyde's bad. His tape is God awful bad. Now to say that, Ruben Bain's tape was worse. There's lots of cut ups of every pass rush from Ruben Bain, who, you know, first round pick for the Bucks.
His tape was worse than Ramello Hyde's, who's the third round pick, right? So like, it's not like, oh man, everybody's taste bad or Ramello Hyde's just terrible. It's just sometimes it takes rookie's time to adjust to the NFL offense attack. Ramello Hyde's got to quit doing that damn spin move. Every single play he just runs chest head up right into the offensive tackle. There were two to three plays where the offensive tackles blocking them and just wraps around and just, they had just bare what they're never going to call holding because you're running through. It's like a bull rush, but it's too finesse to be a bull rush. He's too high to be a bull rush. So like, yeah, Ramello Hyde and Giair Brown, those were my two players that were just like, okay, I don't want to be just a homer and we're the best team in the NFL and we're going to win the Super Bowl and go 17. I'm not saying that thing. There's some negatives. There's some negatives. The negatives. Ramello Hyde, Giair Brown. Really bad consistently. Those two players.
And I don't think he's a buzz. Oh, look at this. We got a Seahawks fan. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Rock chalk Seahawks. What's up? Ramello Hyde is a bust face it. Now you get, he's caught somebody a bust after week one. 25 year old rookies. You hope hit the ground running. He has not done that. Has not stayed healthy. Has not been good in camp. What's not good in preseason? Has not been good in week one. So the the qualifiers and the checklist, but you don't have a choice. You are light at the defensive end position to put it lightly. But I'm glad you're here. Seahawks. I know you guys don't have channels. You guys don't have that kind of stuff. So like we'll take you here. We appreciate you. Banchers always welcome. The opposing fans are always welcome. One of the most common emails I get is, hey, we want to come to your telekate by my brother or my friends at Cowboys fan or whatever can we still come. Yes. Opposing fans belong. The fan like we are welcoming. We're going to talk trash, but we're going to be respectful.
I love seeing opposing fans. I want to learn like I love seeing those jerseys. That's awesome. I wish we would have had opposing fans in Australia. That would have been really cool. It just didn't exist. There's no Rams fans. There were more Raiders jerseys. There were more Cowboys jerseys. There were more. Shoot. You name it. Rams fans just were not present. The Rams weren't present. And yeah, the entire country of Australia now hates the Rams. And don't like them. Like how many times we'd have people at Australia say, man, do we love the Niners now? We didn't have a team before this week, but how they embrace the country, the city, all the PR work they did. And the Rams just thumbing their noses up at us. Like they're better than us. No, we're 49ers fans now. That was just repeated continuously. Every place we went. And so you love that. You love bringing in. I want the fan base to be more. I really, really do. Always want that to be there.
No, they don't. Right here. Seattle has a robust fan base. It's Seattle. They do. They don't travel. The Seahawks don't travel ever. And you cannot find this jersey. Maybe a large and every now and then. But all the, no, no, the Seattle fans do not have a robust fan base at all. They do not. They have a local fan base that does not travel. They don't travel. They're one of the least represented teams everywhere. I don't think I saw one Seahawks jersey in Australia. Not one. They do not travel. In Seattle, they do. I've been to the last six games in Seattle. And I'll be there. This seven consecutive games is seven like in Seattle. Like I love, I love your stadium. I love the city. I love all those things. And yeah, you have home fans, but that's it. You do not have like a robust fan base compared to not top 15, right? But at home, dude, y'all rocked that. And that is cool. And I respect that because that's one of the hardest places to play.
It's by far the loudest stadium. But you know, I did grad school in Kansas City. It's way louder than Arrowhead. You have a loud fan base. You have a local fan base. You do not have a robust fan base. And you have no traveling fans. What's the way they don't show up anywhere? They just don't travel. Don't do it. Yeah, right here, big red. I know one Seattle fan outside of Seattle. They're just so concentrated. There's nothing wrong with that. Root root root for the home team. That's what they do. But yeah, they don't leave. And that's okay. Now, the last part of the show that I wanted to get to is just kind of a microcosm for how bad the 49ers just beat the pants off the Rams week one. I wanted to go through the updated top 10 rankings for the 49ers after week one. Now, this is before Monday night football. So this is out of 30 teams. So I understand that like this is not a completed you know top 32 week one. This is top 30.
There's 30. These are the top 10 ranks. For the 49ers to start defense. Okay, top 10 out of 30 teams. 32 teams or just 30. Sorry. 10th in yards allowed. 8th in turn overs forced. First in fumbles lost. 8th in first downs allowed. 9th in pass attempts. Second in passing touchdowns allowed. Which they gave up zero. So do with that what you will. Oh, I'm doing the wrong one. Damn it. I'm an idiot. It's the offense. These are the offensive stats. Sorry. Let me start back over. Discount the previous 10 seconds. I'm a moron. We know that I'm from Texas. 49ers offensive ranks out of 30. 10th in yards allowed. 8th in turn overs. They only had the one turnover. Didn't lose any fumbles. That's best in the NFL. 8th in first downs. 9th in pass attempts. Second in passing touchdowns. They had three passing touchdowns. The jacks had four. So second most. Third in rushing yards.
Second in yards per rush attempt. That is the biggest difference. You were 30th. Last year in yards per rush attempt. 3.8 yards per rush attempt last year for the season. This year, one game small sample size. 5.8 yards. Two yards extra per rush attempt. Through week one. Huge. Absolutely huge. Percentage of drives ending and scoring. Best in the NFL. First. Percentage of drives ending and turn over. Third best. Average drive per play or time per drive. Second best. Average number of plays per drive. Second best. Net yards per drive. Best in the NFL. Points per drive. Best in the NFL. Third down offense. Fourth. Fourth down offense. You didn't have any four down. So that does account. That's the offense. Now let's go to the tee. Fence of ranks out of 30.
Number one. Defense point scored. You held the Rams who were the number one points per game last year. Total points. Total yards. Number one in all those metrics. You held the number one offense of the NFL last year. To the fewest points in the NFL week one. Raheem Morris. I love you man. Fifth and turnovers. Sixth and first downs. Seventh and passing yards did not allow a passing touchdowns. You are first there in the NFL and past touchdowns allowed. Remember who'd you play against? Oh, just Matt Stafford, the reigning MVP. Come on man. Come on. Fifth and interceptions. Fourth and percentage of drives. Inding in a score. You did the bet. You know the fourth there. Top five. Second and percentage of drives. Inding in an offensive turnover. Dude. And this one's huge. This is special teams. The 49ers had the fourth best average start to fill position for their
defense, meaning. The offense for the Rams had to get a full extra first now. This is the hidden yardage that brand boy here helps the 49ers with because of how could the punt team was? How could the kickoff coverage team was all those things. Fourth best for the 49ers defense average starting position. Love that. Love that. Love that. Second number of plays per drive. Second and number of yards per drive. Best and points per drive allowed. Sixth and third down percentage. 10th and fourth down percentage. They went one for three on four downs and fourth best red zone percentage. Like completely destroyed the Rams. The 27 to seven score reflects that. Those metrics reflect that even more. Man. I freaking love it, dude. Yeah. Yeah. It was just an all out awesome. It's exactly what you want. And now you get to stay home and play the dolphins.
Who are not a good football team. The dolphins are what we would call a bad football team to say the least. They got beat 27 to 13 by the Raiders who are not a good football team. So I love that. I love that. I love that. I love where the 49ers are. I just really, really do. Special teams was huge. You know, yeah, Ashton Davis was incredible. Malik Mustafa with the play to start the game. That awesome tackle inside the 20. Sierra Neil. It looked really, really good. Dude, you got to talk about Kadero Hodge. He made several plays. Hey, Luke Gifford was terrible. Like pro bowl special team or last year he's coming off the injury. Had like two practices. They put them in there. He didn't look good, but I have all the faith in the world and Luke and Luke Farrell. He'll get a look at. Gifford. Sorry. He'll get there. He'll get there. He'll get there. Oh, freaking love it, man. Gosh.
I love this team. I love the season. I love the start of the season. A lot of promising stuff there. It really, really is. And 49ers are sitting right where they need to be. They're in sole possession of first place. Because they have the only division of win. Yeah, we're talking first place after week one. But hey, what starts well, hopefully ends well. They have handled their business up to this point. Now you've got the freaking doffins and cartels. Doffins and cartels, which cartels play a good game. That's going to be fun. But doffins and cartels, you take care of business. The 49ers have the largest spread for week two already. 12 and a half points. I don't think there's another game over eight points. Like you're talking like five points, bigger spread than the next closest team. I don't know if I'm going to take 12 and a half points. That's a lot of points. I'll do them in a teaser for sure. But yeah, we'll post our bets later in this week. But what I need everybody to go do right now, the 49ersRush.com or a Patreon channel, go sign up, go watch the tape from week one, learn, see for yourself every offensive,
defensive, special team plays up, go learn some scheme, go check it out, see what you think for yourself. But that's going to do it for us.
