36 | The Trauma Educator (with Effie Kli)

You're not disordered, our culture is!  We chat with Effie Kli, a trauma specialist who is trained in Dr. Gabor Mate's somatic-based psychotherapeutic approach and helps guide her clients through their healing journeys. And believes depression, anxiety, ocd, addiction and other mental disorders are all symptoms of trauma.  We talk about why it's important to treat these labels as symptoms rather than a diagnosis, and as paths guiding us back to what we need to address in order to return to wholeness.

Effie explains how she works with her clients to get to the root of their symptoms.  When you are experiencing anxiety, how old do you feel?  What feels familiar about the present situation that may mirror a situation from your past where you felt unsafe?  How do you process that?  And how are you able to move forward and live a more fulfilling life with less anxiety/depression/ocd?
