About this episode
Last month the royal family of Qatar was offering the United States a brand new $400 million dollar airplane to be used as a new Air Force One jet. It was a very interesting situation.
How do you take an airplane from the Middle East, and convert it into a jet that’s adequate for the President of the United States? Also, the US government was saying that even if they were to accept the plane, it would take billions of dollars, and several years, to convert it into an Air Force One jet.
Now, that piqued my interest—and it sent me and my researcher down a rabbit hole into the capabilities of Air Force One. And while many of them are classified, many others are not — such as the fact that one model of Air Force One has a shield in place that can withstand nuclear EMP attacks.
