That's UPWORK.com. Hey folks, welcome to The Sloppy Boys, where we take a deep dive into the drinks that you love. I'm Jeff Dutton along with Mike Hanford. Tim Calpac is?
What is up? Where you go, host The Sloppy Boys, your source for subtle masculine style. Okay. Settle masculine. I think that's about right. That's the style that was being exuded by Mike Slav. After you. Yeah, folks, we should tell you that the way we define subtle masculine style is sort of like like somebody like a witch kind of. No, that was I was doing that because I'm going to talk about Halloween in just a minute, but Jeff, I want to hear about this more about the subtle masculine style. You want to hear more about it? People tune in to hear it from you, man. Me? Well, I want to. Okay. I didn't understand what we were doing. Sorry. A friend of ours was like, hey, I got a gig and I looked it up and the lead in it was somebody who I didn't recognize, but under his description, it said that he was known for his subtle masculine style. So I said, hey, that ought to do for us too, man. I wonder what that means.
Too, like, is it being there not buff? Is there not like honky talking like a truss driving type guy? It was like sort of a Pedro Pascal type guy. And you're like, yeah, okay, he's not like the rock, but you know, he's got a subtle masculine style. Well, here's what I was going to say about Halloween. Now, you know, it's, you know, we're getting close. I am. We're in the dog days of summer right now. We're the dog days of a work boy. We're getting close. I haven't even had the crunch of leaf. You haven't. No, I haven't even tasted the spice of pumpkin. We just had here in New York, we just had a very nice weekend where it was just, just tipping into like the cool abrisque breeze, maybe, but still wearing shorts and a t-shirt, but I'm not just like sweating while standing in one spot. You know what I mean? I had the windows open in the home, no AC. Oh, but while feeling this mood before I left the grocery store the other night, I bought some candy corn,
something I usually. Now that is something I have never bought and I know I'm on record for I'm not playing candy. I don't even think I've seen candy corn available in the store. It's just a thing that's just around. If you needed, it's provided. Did you know that like candy corn? It doesn't look very much like corn. We can agree. It looks like corn if it was only it was pulled out from entirely the root. So you can put them together and make you can put them together and make a corn so that it's like a cylinder of nibblets facing out Mike. Have you ever done that? Nibblets facing it. They they have something you can put the corn in. No, no, you buy a candy cob. You've never got a nibblets out. I've seen these. You roll a toilet toilet paper roll into frosting in a stick. Yeah, yeah, make sure you use the toilet paper roll. Take that from the bathroom.
Bring it into the kitchen. Put the food on it. Brits it in water. Also, once you've built this thing, it's very funny to know you're going to eat it like corn on the cob, jump it down to a 20,000 calorie treat. Every bite just more fall off the edge. So the reason I bought it was I was I was thinking Tim about your your maximum of you know, no, a don't should be buying a candy bar was it or a full candy bar. I was merely saying that I a subtle masculine don't have never bought a candy bar. That's right. And I have and I will do again, but I thought of the candy corn and I was like, Hey, I haven't seen a candy corn and again, I'm in this fall mood. I haven't seen candy corn like displayed like this a long time. And it was jelly belly was the company. So I said they do, they do good work. Whatever the blocks. That's what I want to know, Jeff, what did happen to Brock's? And I feel like the only time I've ever had candy corn is what Tim is talking about when it's just around like I've never seen it come out of a package. Someone's trying to get
rid of it. There's your yeah, it's just like, Hey, everyone's gift bag. Give a handful of candy corns. Well, do me a favor take some candy corn or and also take those corns or the pumpkins with like the little green top on it too. Oh, I like those. Those are a little too much. There's a little too much going on. It's extreme. You know what's funny? So I was enjoying the candy corn. It tastes good because it was like fresh out of the bag. And I had like a couple handfuls of those like, well, that's all I need probably for the rest of the year. Oh, you peaked early, Mike. I peaked, but I'm still ready for PSLs. Okay, it's funny if you you're like, I'm so excited for Halloween. I'm getting started early and then you burn yourself out early. I'm looking forward to fall into the whole thing. Um, Brock's as a reference is a good one because remember, we had an old birthday boy sketch about old ladies giving away Halloween candy and all the weird candies.
And it got when we did the sketch live, one of the old ladies goes, here you go. It's Brock's and that got a lot of you goes B R A C H a boss re s and just like just the mere spelling of the word got a laugh. Oh, yeah, you don't say that out loud. A lot of great beats in that sketch. First of all, like we came out one after the other and it was teed up as like, hey folks, you know, for this next you know, the next, the next act isn't really a stand up. We've actually invited some local old ladies from the neighborhood here in Franklin Village to give out some candy. And it was like shitty candy, shitty candy, shitty candy. One of them was pennies and just a little fistful of pennies into the audience. But the best one of all was Mike. You made weird cookies intentionally tasteless flowery cookies that you gave out so that it's the only the only taste joke I've ever seen in my life. I love that we got to do. We did that not only did I make tasteless cookies instead of sugar, I use salt. It was like an extra laugh or extra experience for an audience member who got
one of the cookies because we threw them out to like take a bite and you kind of see like people being like, ooh, what is this? It was the first funny taste. I mean, I got comedic taste. It was, yeah, that was fun to do. Quite a silly. And it was also like, we're doing that thing and every like the day we do it, I'm like, fuck, I got to bake some cookies today. Some bad cookies, some salt days. Well, we're getting some booze news. Bip, bip booze news, hit it. There's something that I did in the past that I swore I wouldn't do it again. I hacked Scott stacks. I hacked Scott Stabs laptop. Got them. I hacked Scott Stabs laptop. To go into a rocker's house and steal his data. Creed leads singer's house. I went down into his basement. I took out his computer. I hacked it. I'm glad you did that Tim and like always the show sponsored by a BVD brand briefs.
Ridged chips. Got a nice revering guitar right there. Badger Bavs reach the badger. Look what a big pile at the end there. Scott laptop drop was sent to us by Count Dropulan. If you have a booze news theme, email to the Slotpy Voice podcast at gmail.com. Count dropulan, that's nice. That's one count that's welcome here on the pod. We welcome that that vampy man. This time of year, especially as we're revving up for Halloween, we do invite him in. Yes, yes, but other vampires. We do not invite in because we don't want to get. Don't get beat. Hey, some advice from Vempires everywhere. Don't get beat. They're giving that advice around Halloween they have to watch out. Don't get beat. It's like
how the tobacco companies are the ones that have to do the anti-smoking ads. Yeah, yeah, exactly. What's kind of like reach for the badger too. Reach for the badger. You're sort of cautioning. Watch out when you reach for the badger. Don't get beat. Don't forget when you reach for the badger. You're reaching for the bev. Yeah. Yeah. Can't deny that. In a way, I think. I only far field from booze news here. There's a lot I could talk about. Of course, there was a big New York Times piece about looking back eight years about the apparel spritz was the drink of the summer and about how it's influence has changed over the eight years. Of course, there was also an article in New York Times about the Spigette from Baltimore has really risen to the place of being a staple of menus now. There have been multiple guardian Huffington Post talking about the Hugo Spritz, which you know, but it's been solidly placed as the second biggest spritz. It's getting
towers filled with the articles about all these. God. Now, we could talk about these articles, but instead what I'd like to talk about is scandal rocks the pod. There was shit. Am I kidding? I might have vacation house with my family in upstate New York, trying to have a swim, trying to relax after getting some labs, trying to eat a hot dog and forget about my co-hosts for once. And I get a text from comedian Barty Asalimi, friend of the show. Hey, Tim, it's nice to hear from a friend. It certainly is, it certainly is, but sometimes the content of the text from the friend is not what you want it to be, which is the text is, hey, Tim is this you? And he is at the Los Feel is Goodwill store. And he has a picture of a Timmy St. Rock t-shirt. And I thought, no, well, he had that have t-shirts of my old Indy Rock project.
The missing rock are Mike Hanford who lives in Brooklyn and me who's currently in Kingston and has my shirt with him. So at the Los Feel is, good, well, there's only one person left, Jeff, they couldn't possibly. We're trying to figure out how they got there, man. Yeah, how did that get the jettin's spot? And what did Jeff call? Oh, you found it, thank god. No, I thought that Barria was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or at least the Heart Rock Cafe. Or at least your house, maybe, looking through your shirt. Oh, my God. And then now I get to Thanks back from Jeff. I tell Marty, I think I could only do Jeff. Thanks Jeff. Did you do this? And then you said, oh, I guess I accidentally did that. I did do that, didn't I? Okay, look, look Tim. You're taking charge of it, Tim. At least, Tim. I should have, look, we all have clothes in our closet.
We're like, yeah, these are the shirts I wear, but like this, my closet, so full of stuff. And like, this is a pile of clothes. It's like, I keep this stuff, but I don't wear it, right? And here I am. Doesn't spark joy. Doesn't spark joy. And here I am, bringing stuff to the goodwill, and wouldn't you know it? Timmy St. Rock shirt is in the stack of shirts. I'm like, well, I don't wear these. So do I, do I keep them? Oh, it's just in the stack, as if you were not the person who made the stack. Also, it's like, it's in a stack of shirts, but it's like, well, I don't wear these, although one of the shirts is about the band I'm in and sort of the guy in my band and stuff. And maybe I can wear a shirt, look. Stage. Stacks get made. The stack was made. It was a passive action. Look, blame the stack was made. Skate LaRocca Pod. I do feel terrible about that. My heart's sag when I saw it.
No, you thought, Jeff, I'm the king of Los Fielis. You couldn't have gone a few towns over. Like, yeah, really? Or that one just thrown away at least, Jeff. Or maybe you thought that that's where it was definitely going to sell because it's a hot item in Los Fielis. Oh, bad. Well, see, this is a shirt we get gifted stuff on the road. And who made that shirt? Was that Ashley? This was Minneapolis. Was Gowsky, yes. She came down to the kids for a game, gifted them to all of us. I mean, Phoenix. See, yes, Phoenix. I was going to say either Phoenix or Atlanta. Phoenix. Atlanta, we got the here for the beer shirts. Those are good shirts. Jeff's probably been in the Salvation Army. I don't know why he's here. I can't find that one. It's just very funny that it is a fake shirt, like a not a real shirt. Here's an extra funny thing that Barty has sent me a picture of the t-shirt right next to it all the way
on the rack. And it was a Julio Torres tour shirt. Exactly. The comedy section over there. Like, yeah, these will kind of go together. That's really funny. Well, Tim, I said this on the chain. I love the artist. I love the album, The Shirt just wasn't for me. Well, I understand you not wearing a shirt that has a picture your friend on. But I'm probably not walking around wearing too many dutch shirts or hand for shirts. But I would like to think you should. And you have the opportunity. Known what you had there. And this could have been an auction item. Yes. I should have given it to you. Yeah, I wear mine all the time. That would have been the best course of action. Yep. I think it's a good shirt. The colors are good. I think there's a cool blue, orange, yellow sort of thing. But it's also, it fits me well. I like the fit. What? It's nothing special. It's like a gildin or something. Yeah. It's me good. Get into a gildin. It's me good.
Come on T-shirt make your fit so good. Anyone who's a fan of Mid-Auts Indy Rock Springsteen influence, head on down to the Los Feelas. Goodwill. Barney didn't buy it. So it's sitting there on the rock. No way that thing's still there. Barney didn't buy it. Oh, Tim, I'm mad at Barney. How much was it? Did he, um, a mere penny? He didn't say what there was a price there. A hay penny. A hay penny? No, I should, I should walk down there and see what they're charging. I bet it's still there. You should buy it. Yeah, I should. And then anyway, do you even step, just open the door and everything. I feel so bad. I'll go ahead and be on it. I don't feel bad about it. Could you imagine the look on that cashier's face? Oh, yeah. I'll ring you up with this Timmy St. Rock shirt. Mr. Rock! We are all fans of everyone on our shirts here. I'm the biggest fan of all. Jeff, you know the real irony that the Timmy St. Rock album that that shirt is advertising
was recorded on your computer and your memory. And you're nothing to do with it. You know what? Anything to do with that project anymore. Hey, we got to put that on Spotify. Did we ever do that? Are you interested in that? I'm interested in that, yeah. Oh God, we should do that. It's like a sloppy boys presents. We're leaving streams on the table, Tim. Shit, we can't be doing that. Well, Tim, I do feel terrible. I'm sorry. We should go get that shirt back. Yes, and you're forgiven. And Slapads, last bit of news. Come see us playing the Hollywood palladium on September 16th. We're open up for Starbomb. That's going to rock. Then for the new years, one of shows on the East Coast, we're talking December 29th, 30th, 31st. We're going to be in Boston at Rockwell. Brooklyn at Littlefield and Philly at Milk Boy. I will definitely be at those Jeff, you and you'll be there, bring Tim. I'm trying. I'm going to try. Try to get him out. I got a feeling he's going to come out. Just say, hey, Tim, you'll have a space to rock and roll.
Get fucking blitzed and chill with the coolest people around. Yeah, I think he's going to be coming to that one. And folks, if you're thinking like, I'm going to bring my friends, but they don't know the sloppy boys music. Don't let that be a speed bump. The sloppy boys are the world's first music adjacent band. You don't go, actually, listen to the music. You go for the unparalleled great times and the people you're going to meet and the drinks you're going to drink and the X's you're going to text. It's almost all the X's you'll text. We always say that. No one's ever actually texted an X, but we'll get him. Hey, doing up shows. Someone's going to text an X. I do think it's important to make the point to people that if you like our music, you're probably thinking, oh, yeah, I'll go that show, but that's just for me. No, no, trust that your boys, Tim, Jeff and Mike have become experts showmen. We can put us in front of a cold crowd and the coldest room. We'll warm it right up. We played in an igloo up there at the North Pole one time.
All right, I'm not going to finish that. All right, is that for booze news? Wrap it up. Oh, that's some good booze news. Now we turn our attention to the drink of the day. Okay, this is sort of the main event of the pod. People tuning in are going to are sort of like finally we're getting to it. The D-O-D is the M-E of the pod. Main event. The day is very good. Very good. We should not have stopped that for that I apologize. Skinny girl, Margarita, you've had. The gendered part of it sounds makes it sound a little weird because it's like the dudes could cut carbs too. I agree, but don't you think it's a clickier episode title for the Sloppy Boys? Do the skinny girl. Yes. Well, we can go ahead and like that. Okay, so people have been clamoring for us to do the skinny girl, Margarita. The skinny Margarita. And we have been doing research to find like, well, I guess that just means less sugar, less calories.
We'll do in a little agave, a natural sweetener. Getting the mix out of here, getting the simple out of here, even getting the sweet triple sec for stuff out of here. But that's not the cultural moment that people are referring to. I think the skinny girl, Margarita, as invented by Bethany Frankel on real housewives of New York, season one, this is the one that went viral and I think we can credit her to the craze. Here's a clip from season one, Real Housewives of New York. Think we're doing tequila. Tequila? I only drink one drink and I call it the skinny girl's Margarita. It's the troen silver on the rocks, fresh lime juice, and a little splash of triple sec. Me too. I love it. I love it. And she just looked at me and said, I'll have that. All right, two of them. It's a skinny girl, Margarita. Okay. And I was like, all right, I like this, I like this chick. Yeah. Somebody was on live.
Is that something you can't tag? That's the TikTok and TikTok. But damn, she did it that time. Everybody's drinking these and this is before she bottled it herself. The very next year in 2009, she founded skinny girl, Margarita's, and sold it in a big ass bottle. And then later, two years later in 2011, sold that to Fortune Brand's bean global for $100 million. Holy shit. Damn. That's pretty good. That's a good, that's the sort of growth that makes the sloppy boys LLC jealous. Yeah, but it is the type of growth that we aspire towards. And this has always been a podcast of aspiration and focus. And you should also mention we would be jealous of really any, any growth. Of course, $100 million, yes, as well. Yes, that one we're definitely going to be a jealous of. We'll go, we'll be jealous of prices from that all the way down to $10.
What's so perplexing about this whole skinny girl, Marg situation is, I've always wondered, like, I kind of was wrong thinking it was just like a tequila soda with a lot of lime in it. I've had it so different on so many menus. And like, like Casita del Campo and Los Feliz, it's just like one-to-one lime tequila and it's undrinkably sour. I love that place, but I can't drink this skinny mark. Then other places they're put in the agave, which I know it's a natural sweetener. So like, if you're like diabetic, it's better for your glycemic index or something, but it's still got the calories that sugar has. Right. So it's not that skinny. So what is very funny to me is that you went to the source and that what Bethany Franco said was essentially the IBA recipe for original classic margarita, but with just the ratio tweets, right? Those are the three ingredients, but she's saying a splash in triple-sake instead of an ounce of triple-sake. Is it because Bethany Franco is a particularly thin woman. I've seen those seasons of her.
See, those seasons of housewives. So I wonder if it's just skinny girl. It's like she's the skinny girl. I mean, I get it. Is that what we drink? Well, you bring up a good point, Mike. And a lot of these real housewives' ladies have tried to pivot into the liquor space of in fact, most of them. But famously, her friend Sonia, this lady, tried to start tipsy girl. Many years later, leading to a rift in their relationship here. Sonia, coming up with tipsy girl. You know how to get this to you. People who want to be skinny, drink skinny girls. I'm doing fat tipsy bitches. I mean, I'm not doing skinny bitches. I know, but is that the look you want? It's the look I'm selling. What am I? What am I? Hip-a-crit now son? I have never said I don't party. I mean, I'm selling to people who want to drink. I'm not saying you have to be skinny bitch to drink my shit. There's a mean guy who should be a fat bitch. She doesn't know what she's talking about. She knows what she's talking about.
She knows what she's talking about. So here we are. Three sloppy boys about to drink skinny girls. What should the ratio be? Because she just says ice cold patron fresh squeeze lime little dash of triple sec. OK. So and if the classic would be 211. A 211. Is it, do you think we do a full ounce of the lime? Or do you think we're saying like, is it like tequila with a squeeze of a lime wedge and then a splash of triple sec? I'm going to want that lime, especially if we're skimping on another ingredient. So I would say like 215. 215. OK. Hold on. I just brought up IBA world weird as a website. And their recipe is actually 50 mill. Oh, great. 50 milliliters tequila. 20 mills triple sec 15 freshly squeezed lime juice. So they're only doing a half ounce of the lime. Do we do two half splash to a sec?
To a sec. Half ounce lime splash triple sec. I guess. Let's do it. Let's just get started. Yeah. And if you want to be really skinny use quantro. Now it didn't you. I will. Jeff, you sent this thing out that does that says orange juice. Yeah. And then I pivoted and I was like, let's just do the viral thing that everybody's going to want us to do. OK. I also bought orange juice and it was like, well, fuck. If this is the clip, the lady, the lady saying it on the show where everybody's doing this and you're right. You're right. Also what she bottled is what she says in the show. Like splash of triple sec, right? Right. So I have OJ I could do it for around two. And then also Jeff, you got as a bottle of this skinny, official skinny girl marks her brand. So we're going to wait to taste test there to see if we nailed it. Yeah, I think we're going to have to do that. So wait, do you do you want to do? I defer to you two one splash or two half splash.
Two half splash. And as a lime freak, that pains me to say, but I feel like I want the skinniest possible one. Oh, I also. We need to weigh ourselves first. And at the end of the video. See if we get thinner. Okay. Good because I want to be silly. And by the end of this, it's a beach season, babe. So when we go to break, first thing you do is weigh yourself. And then we come back and resume. Great. Did she say chilled? Are we shaking? Are we just stirring in the glass? She doesn't know what she's doing. I'm just going to build it in the fucking glass. I'm still in the glass. But traditionally anything with citrus gets shaken. I don't know. Yeah, because you want to wake up the lime. Wake up the lime. Okay, I'll shake folks. We'll be right back with first sips, skinny or margarita after this. We have on the beach. In a world where AI is changing every role in every industry, knowing who actually has

I was shaking on ice, pouring on fresh ice, garnishing with a lime wedge, a nice fat
lime wedge. Yeah, I didn't do any of that shit, man. Okay. No, I actually made in glass today in glass. Look at the tips. Sips. Oh, I didn't even weigh myself. Fuck, did you guys weigh yourselves? Yep. I did 179.603. Wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait. Okay, go ahead, my 179.6010. Boy, I'm telling you, I was like, boy, I'm not in the mood to weigh myself. I just got back from a week of eating hot dogs. And I was like, I hope I can't find my scale. And I found it. I was like, I hope the batteries are dead. And I went to turn it on. It's like, it's crazy. And I was like, oh, fuck. 222. I'm in clocking in it. I'm normally a 2.18, but I'm 222. Great. I'll do a live way here on the field. 222. That's funny, Tim, to be like, oh, I hope it doesn't work.
Oh, I hope there's a battery. You could also just not tell us. It's also funny. I could not tell you, or I could just choose to say that I'm an adult and I don't want to do that. Yeah, you can do that. I've got one of these body mass index scales that don't weigh you unless your socks are off. Oh, it's like the silver, the silver discs that you have to put your feet on. 166.5. Shit. 166.5, Jeff. You're a thin little man. I'm almost twice Jeff's weight. No. Wait. I miss my slogan is two Jeff's. It's Tim. Hey, I get to like it one Tim when you have two Jeff's. Sorry, we're back talking to our sips about Mike. What about Mike? I don't worry about it. Well, I did have the Patron, which is a very delicious.
It's funny, but fancy to get as they just have less and less taste. So my triple sec is not coming through whatsoever. My splashed wasn't even too small, but it didn't come through. This just tasted me like I have a tequila line, but I will say Bethany Frankel. It's nice. I'm not I'm not missing. If this is going up against a big margarita with mix back in the day, a corn syrupy mix, I probably fucking like the taste of this shit better. Yeah, dude. Yeah, this feels a little more lemonadey. I don't know it's lime, but lemon maybe I put too much lime, but it's it's got a real like tartness to it. We used to go to the Mexico City restaurant, Reston piece, out there on out there on Hillhurst. And they they had a I would get skinny marks there. And it was just, you know, the no mix version. It was just a I guess hint of agave, but yeah, they're doing like a Tommy's.
You know, it was these came out of the era of mix, but I feel like cocktails have gotten better and a lot more places are doing tequila triple second lime now. So yeah, we're just like they're on the menu as as skinny margarita or natural marg where it's just not corn syrupy mix. So the thing we're missing, the like a simple syrup. Yeah. Is that what the agave was meant to be less? I mean, the IBA version of a margarita is these ingredients just yeah, that's okay. We're sure. But I think what we're saying here is like, remember when we for in like 2010, we would go to El Chavito and get the scratch margarita and it seemed fancy to us. They're making it from scratch. I think in those days, margaritas were enormous and they were made of mix. And that's what Bethany Franco is trying to subvert. You know, so funny is that makes a lot more sense now with that. But the Franco was up to. The thing with margaritas is I always put pictures of them in my head or when I hear margarita, I think like, oh, that's a fancy drink.
It's, you know, you got to get the blender out. And it's not I'm thinking of it because of those big like mixed drinks. Like you'd see them in the big like hurricane glasses with the stuff coming out of them and yeah, for yeah. And so I just always when I think of margarita, well, I know margarita is one of your favorites, Jeff, when you order them, always like for a second, I'm like, boy, Jeff, that's a big, that's going to take a while. Like, oh, no, it's a simple drink just because I'm picturing it as a, you think of El Torino in 1988, right? I do them at the house too, like, especially if like people are over or something. And I will make, you know, making mixes a lot better than buying like the finest call jug of corn syrup mix. So I am thinking of like, oh, it's getting rid of the simple syrup in what I would do at home. So I was just at this, I rented a house with a pool and a hot tub and stuff and the fam was hanging out. And the reason I chose the house that I rented, it had a bar inside the house, but with a dog right to the pool, it had a bar. So all week, I was being a little Mr. Bartender man.
And it was very funny because here I am 307 episodes or something into a cocktail podcast. And I think of myself as a little little Mr. Cocktail man. But I was taking Mr. Cocktail. I kind of stocked it with pretty much a full bar because I bought all the stuff to make long island ice teas and therefore I had every liquor. So then I bought a couple other things. I'm pretty much sitting there with a full bar. So I was just like taking orders like just like my sister's boyfriend, my brother's girlfriend, just been like, what do you want? I would take like a five drink order so that I was like immediately in the weeds. And I'm like, it's a really hard bartending is a very hard job, but it's very different than just doing what we do here. I agree. I've set up before I'm sure I'll say it again, but like waiting tables and a bartending, it seems I've never really done. I've done busing tables. It seems like a very difficult job for the type of job where people are like, oh, yeah, it was waiting tables. It's like, that seems like a difficult thing to do.
Bartending is fucking you can't like I couldn't I wouldn't be able to hear anybody. I'd be like lost. Oh, and I feel like I would maybe enjoy mixing the drinks, but I would eat shit like trying to ring people up. Like the amount of time is that open or close, then you have to go do all that shit. You're doing that to your brothers girlfriends open or close. Overclosed. I guess it's free. Yeah, yeah, free. Okay. It'd be great like game show to get like, I don't know, I feel like that should be a food network thing. Get the three of us only to do a competition where we got to be in a TGI Friday's at rush hour. Yeah. Yeah. Happy hour. Or shall we be happy? That'd be great. If it's it was every week is just the three of us competing again and again. Where fucked? Think of you got to work quick. You got to know the recipes. You got to work quick. Um, you got to have accuracy of poor Mike with the speed poor one. Two, you get to do one, two, like knowing the recipes.
I would be on my phone the entire time like texting. Texting me and Jeff. I know. I was looking at TikTok, sir. Post Giuseppe Gonzalez would dock you for that. And then this is a good show. And then also this is pretty good bonus points flare. Flinging room. Hey, maybe we could we could add like a ninja warrior element to it too, just to make you kind of well, I would look like Michelangelo with those bottles, man. You know what? It's funny that you like learn by doing in my week of making cocktails for my siblings. I did like I was doing some flare because you know, I was making like self-sides and I was slapping the mint. I was making mojitos. I'm doing all the stuff like the like plus I'm getting drunk. I'm drunk. Um, like Japan's best bartender doing the like, yeah, the choppy guy. Oh, yeah. Does he does he do ice stuff? Is that what you're talking about? Yeah, yeah, a lot of like chopping ice, but also there's the guy with the parody.
There's so many parodies. I love them all. There's like, oh, there's like a little toddler girl. There's like a Lego guy, but also you serve the drink through like the mist and then the bottle of whiskey goes and it like slides up super fast. Yeah, yeah. Tim, take it away. Well, I was doing all of that flare and I was showing off and everyone was impressed. And I did the Cal Pakis method of like never admit your weaknesses. If you serve somebody something, you just say, here you go. Don't be like, let me know if it's too sweet, you know, because then don't do that. Yeah, nobody knows anyway. So I wasn't saying anything, but a lesson that I learned, it was funny. Like I do just by like, I would take orders. There'd be like four different cocktails and then I would, I would kind of be sweating making them. And during the course of the week, one main thing that I learned that you got to be careful with is squeezing my citrus. We had one of those like old, tiny lemonade press thing to squeeze the citrus. Oh, but is it mounted somewhere? Or is it handheld? It was, it had its own little stand on the kitchen counter.
So I was making my own sour mix. I'm like, I'm going to do lemon lime sugar water. Mike tins back there. And then everyone goes to bed for the night. They hear me in my work. Jesus guy's making drinks and bed now. And then in the next morning, he's like, my forearm is so, so retired for last night. And my prostate is so empty. And the pages of my nudie magazine are all crumpled and crumpled. Help me. No, the lesson that I learned the hard way is I made a huge, I bought a big bag of lemons, big bag of limes. I was like, I'm making like a gallon of scratch sour mix. It's going to be really good. I was trying to hard to get every last drop of juice out of the citrus. I squeezed the citrus to hard. And I got like bitter, rind juice. And this is not something I've ever thought about until I was like, we like, I was putting my muscle into it. And then when I tried this stuff, I was like, I'm getting some of like like pith juice here.
It was just so much squeezed. So I learned that lesson the hard way. Then I had the hard way. That hard way. A little bit sweet and sour mix to try to balance it out. I thought you were going to say Tim with the citrus. I've told this story before as a cautionary tale. My dad when he was, uh, he told me he was like out of college. It probably before he had kids and he was at a party that was like a Christmas party. But it was like a Christmas in Hawaii type of theme. And the bartender, one of their friends was doing all the, uh, cutting up all the limes all night. He ended up going to the hospital for burns on his hand because of all the, the asset, the, uh, citric citric acid. Wow. Yeah. Like, you know, the minorest of burns, but like still had to go to like, get them figured out a little bit. It's fucked. I know I wouldn't you would never think of like, I just Alive so much lime burn in your way. A guy I knew, uh, my dad knew that the same thing, but with fire, he got all, he was, we got all burned up in a fire and he had third degree burns on his, he was cutting him up. He was just the fires. Fire chopping up fires.
Um, hey, I'll tell you what, I just took a sip of the branded Bethany Franco skinny girl, Margarita. And it's pretty damn delicious. Really? I'm curious about those nutrition facts because this is sweeter than I would. I'm wondering does it have some sucrose or sucrose or aspartame or what's going on over there? Like, as there's sucrose, they don't really say on this bottle because an alcohol, I guess you don't have to disclose. But it does say made with blue agave silver to keep, no, made with blue agave silver tequila, triple sec and natural flavors. A little assault coming through that's nice. Uh, this is 12.7% alcohol by volume. So this was with the wine and it's sort of in a wine. It's a, it's in a skinny wine bottle. So I think this is just sort of like, it's not a Margarita. It's a Margarita drink. It's a Margarita inspired. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I gave it just saying, you know the way that like, you know, there's, there's real juice and then there's like a fakes like sunny D. It's like orange juice.
Yeah, yeah, orange drink. It's like like a, like how like cool whip or like miracle whip, rather. And it's like, it's not mayonnaise per se, but it's, it's the man a's world. It could be put next to the man. But it does what man a does. It goes where man a goes. What? Do you guys know this, this lady Bethany Frankel, do you recognize her? Yes. Um, I do, I do now, but I remember like 10 years ago, like sitting at home in the middle of the day with normal old fashioned TV on, uh, this lady like launched a talk show that was like an Oprah style talk show, the studio audience. And it was like, I'm just like sitting there on my couch in the middle of a day. And it's like, ladies and gentlemen, Bethany, I'm sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The show was called Bethany. I remember that because not knowing what she was from and being like, what? So anyone with any name can just have a show. And the crowd is going crazy. Bethany. Oh my God.
It's Bethany. That happens to be so much. I, you know, watching TV or whatever, or even just like, uh, YouTube, like just the, the commercials that come in anytime I see like a guy or even a girl. I can be anybody. But then what I'm thinking about is two guys talking to the camera and they both look kind of like made up and stuff. And you're just like, these people aren't, I don't know who they are, but they are huge celebrities. Somebody just know it. Yeah. Just know. And I'm sure they have like a multi 100 million following or whatever on YouTube. And they've got YouTube videos that do like, oh, the craziest stuff. And it's like no idea. It does not call on. I always feel like in my old man era, like, who okayed this? I didn't okay Glenn Powell. Yeah. Right. When they try out the new guy that you're supposed to love, I didn't. Glenn, like, Glenn was released like on major movies and TV, like the, the outlets that
I realized, like with with Tick tock, like Tick tock in YouTube, there are so many big celebrities that I just don't think they have. It's his empire that you have never interacted with. It's just, I know like, it just won't cross. A lot of it used to be Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. We're like, how does this, how does this person have to do a million? And it's like, oh, they were on a Nickelodeon show. But now it is just like YouTube native or Tick tock native people who aren't from anything. They're from Tick tock. Right, right, right. Wait, do you remember back when we all lived together one time or watching like a prime time network multi cam sitcom? And all the characters had like primary color t-shirts. And it was like, all the like the boys were like, Dad, and then the dad was clearly like probably like one of the lesser known blue collar comedy tour guys. Yeah. And the name of the show was just his first name. It was like, it was like, damn. Wait, no, it was, I thought it was going to be like the world according to Dan. Was it one of those types?
Well, but that was the name we said it a lot. It was like, oh, it was like, it was like, Danny. But I do remember, yeah, just watching a show and be like, why do all these people just have extra large shirts on a solid colored royal blue t-shirt? Every, every costumer on a TV show set makes everyone look like more McDonald's and dirty work. And they have an open button down and then earth's biggest t-shirt underneath. He's still see the fold marks in all the shirts. Fuck, what was that show called? Because it did, what are you going to look that up? Because I would have no other way. I have no idea how to look this up other than like, I know he was a blue collar comedy guy. But like if we, we don't know the names of the people we can't just put like show with a bunch of shirts on it. I mean, could you really Google anything if you want?
Wait, what was I guys? Oh, I guess we would just go to like the years we lived in the birthday boys house and say, what were the major network shows? What were the one season wonders? They all have names like leader of the pack. Should we do another one? I've got an idea here on this one. I'm going to do a little less lime juice because this felt very limey. So I'm going to do less lime juice and not just a splash of triple sec. I'm going to do like a half ounce. Ooh, okay. Okay. Or maybe a full ounce. I'm going to do OJ instead of triple sec. I'm going to do a whole ounce of it. Yeah, I'm going to do that OJ method that we were kind of bandying about earlier. This is the OJ version too. Yeah, which one is that? Because I bought OJ. This was from Hornitos and it's also on Vine Pair. This was the one where we were just trying to find some consensus less sugary margarita would be non real housewives affiliated.
Parts to Kila. One and a half lime. A lot of lime. One part OJ. Quarter part. Tiny drop. Agave. Well, I have some of the old tiny drop of that. In your case, I'm going to do that one. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, cool. I'm going to do that one. Folks, we'll be right back with round two after this. Ever back with a variation on a skinny marg. I'm excited for this. A juicy guy. Here's a look. Here's a look. Here's a look. Here's a green there. Green. Green. From from my uh. Oh, Jeff, that's very green.
The sitcom was called Rodney. Rodney. Way back in college. Rodney. And folks, if you Google Rodney, it's the worst wardrobe ever. Ever the whole. It's like a husband, wife and his kids and everyone just has like a plane clothes like straight off the rack of war. The first picture when I search Rodney, it's, I guess, Rodney is the photo of him. And then the word Rodney in Times New Roman Fund. Yeah. It feels like it feels like a TV show within the world of a movie where it's like everyone's watching Rodney. This feels like a. This feels like a show. Yeah, that's on like a college network or something. Yeah, so he was a big comedian from the South, Rodney Carrington. Rodney. Well, it's. It's fully. Yes, we all agree. But Jerry Meyer was on that show. Okay, um, I did, I did the uh, ounce of OJ and then a squeeze of.
Oh, God, man. Interesting. This is like with the OJ and stuff. This is like a different drink. You know what I mean? It's exactly what's what's the clay pot drink that we can't get to read. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't read it, isn't it? Yeah, that one had to kind of five alive. Yes. Oh, man, I don't remember that one. Well, traditionally serving a little clay pot. Like that one. I remember I remember the clay pot thing. But I just like I wouldn't. Couldn't remember what it was in there. Um, this is what I remember. Um, um, this is what Robert O'Geeam told us about it because it's like, uh, in El Paso, I think his mom, it was his mom's favorite drink. This is like a nice big juice bomb. It does feel healthier, but it's weird to substitute sour mix or even, even normal triple sec. I was using Quantro and now I'm using orange juice. And neither of those are like sweet, sweet, you know? So these are all been like pretty dry affairs to me. Yeah, this is a weird one.
This is an odd drink. I wish I got in that skinny girl bottle. Do you guys think of triples, uh, not triple sec. Triple sec with the cartoon orange on it is sweet. But like, I don't think of Quantro as sweet because it's 80 proof. I mean, it's triple dry. Uh, yeah, it's 80 proof. It's orangey, but it's, I agree. It's not at all like a dekiper or a iron walker. And, and, and ditto just orange juice, you know? Yeah. So I mean, this, that's what's funny because orange juice, uh, I look, I think we all know orange just can be flabby. Can be flabby in a drink. Can be flabby. Can be flabby. Yeah. Uh, unless it's acid adjusted as in, remember when they get, Take it easy to, who made us, who made us adjust our acid? Was it the, the Rizzler? No, the, Quizler. It was a Quizler. Yeah. It's gonna hurt Joe Saunders. You, you, you, they were gonna, they were gonna ask it to just Joe Saunders in a, you know, that of, like, like, uh, like, uh, like the dip from Roger Rabbit. And then we had to ask it to just a cocktail. That's a good episode first.
Go ahead, listen back to the library. Yeah. Start from the way you, Listen back folks. If you haven't listened, uh, if you're a patron, you've listened, but if you haven't, if you're not a patron, get to be a patron and listen to our blowouts behind the paywall. We just did a very fun episode about the emojis. We talked about emojis for a long time. We certainly did. One of the, if you're not a patron, get to be a patron. Jeff, how does one do that? Yeah. Tim, there's a lot of ways to become a patron. You got to stop and take stock of your life, look in the mirror and make the change. But the easiest way to do it specifically, most of the one's the easiest way for our listener. Well, most people have the most, uh, good results going to patreon.com slash the sloppy boys. Yeah. That's where it really happens. That's where we go. And, and here's the issue where you get to be a patron. You have these people that hear, they, they're listening to the podcast, they're loving it. Then when you say this thing about, oh, go to patreon.com slash the sloppy boys to subscribe to
this other show, people think like, well, I don't do that. Oh, I don't do that. You do. Yeah. You do. No. You do. You do. You do. I tell you this. You do that. This cocktail by guys, you're listening to not a two now. You're thinking you don't tell your friends about it. You think you don't post about it? You do. You do do that. You do. You do. You're going to need to do that. I'll tell you what folks, don't do it through your phone because then you're given Apple a piece. You don't need to give Apple a piece. Go to your computer terminal. Go to patreon.com slash the sloppy boys. And that way you're not given Cupertino a piece. Because the Apple store takes a piece. Fuck off. To do it through the Apple store. You don't have to. They take a pretty piece. That's just me trying to save you folks. Save you save us. Save and hey, you know what? Save three spots at the bar because I want to get another one of these drinks in me. That's good. Mike, your final thoughts, please.
I think this one is interesting. The second version here, let me take another sip of this. It's not bad. The second thing with the OJ. I just don't know what what we're really like is the skinny girl. The first one or the skinny girl or the second one or the skinny mark, I should say. All in all, these are all orders again because there's not, I like margarita. I like margarita and there's not like, there's nothing in either of these. I'm like, no, I couldn't have these. So this is order again, but I just wish that skinny girl margarita tasted like skinny margarita. Yeah. This is a messy. I can't believe I presented this drink. And here we had two different drinks and we're trying to talk about it. Jeff, you don't like the messy stuff. You're always so ones and zeroes here where Tim and I get to let the music take us where it will type of thing. No, I hate when you guys do that. This is a good drink. Any version of a margarita is good. It's an order again and again and again and probably a stone cold classic.
It's funny though that we had the Bethany version, the Bethany bar version, the Bethany bottle version and then this this juicy OJ version. Whatever this is. Folks, they're all order again. Jeff Timothy, your thoughts. Same, they're all order again. I would love it of America and the world at large could come up with a consensus what a skinny margar was. But I got to say, from the most part, if you're looking at a bar menu and they have one, they're trying to tell you something about their house mark. You know, they're telling you it's true. So if they have the skinny option and here's what I really want to say. The name sucks. The name's embarrassing. Men, don't be afraid. Don't let this be gendered. You could be a 222 pound guy like me or so proudly get the skinny girl, Mark. Folks, we want you to go out like that Norman Rockwell painting of that guy standing up in town hall saying
one skinny margarita, please. One for me. Even though I am a man and I'm mask and weight, were we supposed to weigh ourselves again and see if we got skinnier? Let's do that now. Michael, you're weight. So like so problematic. Report your weight. I went down was I 178.64. I have 178.4. So I that could have been just because it's a crappy scale that I got off Amazon. I thought you were 179.6. That's what I'd written down. Oh, that is what I had then. So now I'm 178.4. I think I must have been 178.6 last time. I did not go down a full pound. You're burning calories making these jokes. No, I think this is just like I took something out of my pocket or something. Like I had my phone on me and then I did that. I don't know. I think you got skinny during the show and I think that says a lot. Anthony, you're doing great work out there. Yeah, even though we're putting more volume and putting more mass in me,
I'm still skinny or I can't believe it. And me, I gained .7 pounds. I went up to 167.2. I was 223 even. So Bethany backfired. I got fat on your skinny drink. Geez. Sometimes it's not that we're going to go into these the bar and be like, hey, can I have a margarita? Maybe a skinny marig for you. Hey, extra skinny please. I want a skinny marig that's going to make me so thin. You might put me back in the straw bin. The straw bin? The area where the straws go. Put me with the toothpicks. And put me with all the used floss. That's our show. Follow us on social media at the Sloppy Boys where we release these recipes ahead of time. And he's like, dude man. And I was like, yeah, yeah. They know me from Tron. I'm done. Could you, if I ever met Jeff Bridges, like dude, I'm a huge fan. Could you like bend over like you're in one of those Tron motorcycles? Could you actually, you're stomach sort of ass up like on those light bikes man. Wait, no, you should have, if you meet Jeff Bridges, you should have to do that Golden Globe speech above Michael, Chopino Chopino. I'm in Chopino. Chopino. Oh great.
