0:00from News 88 7 in Houston. I'm Gio DeLotter. A Galveston County jury is sent in 61-year-old James Elmore to 20 years in prison for the role he played in the decades-old Texas killing feels case. Let's go live to the Galveston County courthouse and News 88 7's Julianna Washburn. And Jules, tell us what happened. Well, Gal, Jules decided Elmore's sentencing less than 24 hours after they found a guilty of manslaughter in the death of 16-year-old Laura Miller. Elmore was accused of preparing a vial of cocaine that prosecutors say ultimately led to Laura's death. Now, Tim Miller, Laura's father, actually spoke directly to Elmore after the sentencing. It was a really powerful message. Tim said, even though Elmore had a part in his daughter's death, he would do everything he could to keep Elmore's son alive while he's in prison. The city of Houston promises week it will never annex the Woodlands township in exchange for $50 million over the next four years. The agreement also ends at township's financial contributions to projects within Houston City limits. Houston City controller Chris Hollins estimates lost revenue could stack up as much as $173 million by 2057.
