2nd Friday Great Compline, March 30

The Order of Great Compline for the 2nd Friday of the Great Fast, when it occurs during a week of Tone 1 and on the Eve of the March 30th Commemoration of Our Holy Father John Climacus.

While it has become common in Greek recension churches (Greek Orthodox, Antiochean, Melkite, Romanian, etc) to celebrate Small Compline with sections of the Akathist on Fridays, the Slavic tradition (Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian, etc) follows the directives of the Triodion to do Great Compline (although simpler with less singing) with the Canon of the Departed in the Tone of the Week for odes 1-5 and of the saint omitted on Saturday for odes 6-9.
