And when were kids? Well, summer meant, you know, freedom. No homework, no teachers, no school. And as adults, well, summer still means freedom, thanks to Mint Mobile Summer Sale. Right now all of Mint's plans are $15 per month, even unlimited. So, free yourself from big wireless and their gimmicks and gotchas and switch to Mint for high speed data and coverage on the T-Mobile 5G network. And this month will be my Mintiversary, I've been with them for a year, and I am not going to be going anywhere else. I got to keep my current phone and my number, and I still do not understand why other wireless companies charge like $50 to $60 a month for the same amazing service that I am getting from Mint for $15. Save that money, spend it on someone you love, or ice cream sandwiches. I mean, that is also a good thing to spend money on. So if you want to get your new wireless plan for just $15 a month, go to MintMobile.com slash Dead Meat. That's MintMobile.com slash Dead Meat. Or you can cut your wireless build of $15 a month at MintMobile.com slash Dead Meat. And that's it. There is no catch.
But here's everything you need to know. A front payment of $45 for three months, $90 for six months, or $180 for 12 months plan required, $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. Includes up to 20 gigabyte hotspot. Capable device required. Availability, speed, and coverage varies. Go to MintMobile.com. What do you think? I think we're Dead Meat. Real Dead Meat. You're dead meat. Go ahead and let me pass. If I have a final word, pass us a bit. A Dead Meat. Welcome to the Dead Meat podcast, your horse, safe haven. I'm Jake. I'm Jake. And I'm Chelsea, I guess. And we're body swapped and like to get scared together. I don't know why I said that. Yeah, what? I've never happened before. I said that. Well, I guess you're jealous that you're the only not James here.
I guess, yeah. Yeah, James Russell joined us. We've got to join the club. Our continuation of Phantasm Fall. Are we having fun yet? I'm having fun. Great. I'm having the most fun with Phantasm 3 so far. So lots of fun to be had in Phantasm 3, Lord of the Dead. Yes, Phantasm Roman numeral 3, Colin, Lord of the Dead from 1994. This one is, I'm glad that my memory was correct. The very hazy memory I had of this. I do really like this one. I had a good time. I do feel as though it's maybe the one I've seen most commonly cited as the worst one in discussions. That's insane to me. But I've seen that for all of that. Sure. I think the Phantasm opinions just drastically vary and a lot of people have strong opinions on each and every installment. And each one has people saying it's the worst.
But you said it you most commonly saw people say it's the worst. Maybe. I mean, it's got to be five though, right? As the worst one. I don't know. I see defenders of that one too. I don't know. I mean, either oblivion with the IV as the Roman numeral 4. Don't they do that in elder Scrolls to? Did elder Scrolls rip off Fantastic? It was oblivion. Yeah, it's an IV. It's an IV oblivion. I think so. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I have always known it as Phantasm oblivion, like, oblivion. Yeah. That's funny. But we're not talking about that one yet, cause we don't even know what the fuck happened in it, because we don't remember it. We're talking about three, Lord of the Dead, which is a continuation of two's style and tone. Yeah. I think this one's the most straightforward. I think it's more straightforward than two. This one is more straightforward. I think so. The one where we get Jody back and he is a Sentinel and okay. I do. I agree.
I agree. I guess that just shows how incoherent it usually is. It's definitely the most lighthearted I think and the least surreal. Again, despite the fact that we have dead older brother as a ball and continuation of Jow is running around. I saw one contemporary review say that it was like home alone only embracing what is really there under the surface as far as like the Gleeful mischievous nature. It's got 10. It's really only that one scene though. Yeah. But Tim's. I love this character. I love Tim. We got a kid. We got a kid in here whose is he younger than Mike was in the first one. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. It has to be. I think so. So a little bit younger of a kid. Yeah. And he's a fucking kills people. Yeah, it incohered blood those kid murders people. And he's I'm, I don't love a prokoshish. Prokoshish?
Prokoshish. Prokoshish. Child actor in a movie. But this kid, it's like they're not trying to make him cutesy. This kid is just adult in a kid body. And he will fucking kill you. Don't fucking kill you, dude. Yeah, your mind's been of the kid in Peewee's big adventure who the actor kid with the bike. Yeah. Yeah. Wait, which we the actor kid? Yeah. Who does the scene with the bike? Oh, and then Peewee dresses the nun and tells him. Yeah, when they cut, he's like, oh, yeah. Yeah. He's a total dick. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. He reminds me of that guy. Yes, 100%. That child actor, I forget what his name is, but he wasn't so much shit. Like he is. Is he the older brother in Wonder Years? Yes. Yeah. Okay. This kid reminds me a lot of that particular actor too. Like they kind of look similar. The look. For a second, I thought it was that kid. Yeah, that was like, wow, big get-for-fantastic. Like you don't see that type of kid character as much anymore.
That's such an 80s, 90s older brother type character. Yeah. And Peewee. Besides him, we have Reggie again. You know, it's a- He has the ponytail back. He's got the ponytail back. Is it the most focal on Reggie? I think so. The last movie feels like Reggie and Mike. This movie, I think, solidifies that the main character of Phantasm is actually Reggie. Yeah, I think so. Like we are fully just making these about Reggie now. I mean, he's been the only kind of through line. Him and Angus Scrim. Yeah. Like actor wise. Because yeah, Jody was absent from part two entirely. And now we get him back in ball form. In ball form. We get older brother Jody back. We get to see him as person too. Yeah, he takes, you know, he's morphin back and forth between human appearance and ball appearance. And has it been 15 years? It has.
It sure has. Gone from absolute 70s honk to just a guy. Yeah. Like he looks because why he's a teacher. I don't know if he's retired or not. I know he was a music teacher. Like he is, he's evolving into music teacher, Bill Thorntberry. You know, you're seeing the evolution happen. Well, would you say, Gruss, I said he looks like a photo from the liner notes of the Eagles He'll freeze us over. There's live album from like 92 or 94 or something. Yeah. And he just looks like he just stepped off of that photo shoot right onto the set of Phantasm. And he's like, here we go. Same guy. Same costume. We're just going right from classic rock, late career album to Phantasm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He looks like a middle aged musician because that is what he is. He's like a missing, you know, in like the Beach Boys were doing all those reunion concerts in the 90s. He's like a missing Beach Boy kind of. He does. He looks like a musician that would have a Wikipedia entry that's like four different bands
with like a couple of years stints. Yeah. He's like the fill in between the members. Right. Ronning members. I like the album with Bill. I don't know what's right. Yeah. He's just a really good studio. Yeah. Really relies on some bands one hot minute. Yeah. You know, he's just a wrecking crew guy. Yeah. But yeah. So we get Bill, the man himself. And it's great because I love that his acting has not changed at all. Like his acting and lying delivery and kind of cadence is exactly the same and it makes me so happy because like it's not great. But that's what's so charming about it. I would not, I don't want anyone else except him to be this character. And I don't want this character to sound like anything else. I love the weird awkward kind of wooden, but it still feels really like sincere to me. I love it. And then the biggest story of all this movie started.
Mike is narrating. Gressel's like, do we have a new Mike? I was like, check it out, dude. They show Mike and Gressel's like, oh, it's Mike three. No mother fuckers. It's Mike one. It's Mike one. We're back to Mike one. We have new old Mike, which now makes the even weirder two weird things happen. One, we start with flashbacks again to the first movie. Yeah. So now in the continuity of the film, Mike's appearance, like in this kind of montage, he just randomly looks like a different guy for a little bit, which I love. And then this movie starts right as the second one. And it's, I mean, like they are in the limo still. And that also makes me think too much about how all of a sudden, if I'm living in the universe of this movie, like if I'm sitting in the limo with them, all of a sudden I look over and Mike looks like a different guy and no one's talking about it. It's always easier to meet with a recast when we're starting with a different scene.
You know, it feels a little bit removed, but when it's the same scene and I'm in the same place. Yeah, the other guy, I look like it's just so funny to start right there. Yeah, there's no like aging or anything. It's just like, that's the same scene, but he's just a different guy now. But he's the first guy. And you can tell he looks like it's a distinctive. And he can tell it showed up in him into like looking at him in this one. He just has such a like a look to him. Like he's so good at playing haunted. But to be fair, Phantasm too, Mike isn't as haunted. He's more of a functioning person. He's got some charm to him. He's doing action stuff. I don't know if a Michael Baldwin could have done the same material. I was going to say that just, I mean, maybe my ideal Phantasm too is just kind of a different move. It is. Because I love a haunted Mike. Like, thousand-yard stare kind of Mike. Yeah. Yeah. Like really on edge constantly. I think it's pretty quick where they they kill off Liz. Yeah. Oh, yes. It's almost to me. Back to her home.
Yeah, exactly. And I did, I wrote down, I didn't, I already forgot what her name was. And I, when we were watching it, I had to ask. Yeah. I think I also asked it. I was like, is it live or Liz? Like we didn't even remember. R-A-P-R-R. Well, anything else to say before we jump into it? Before we jump into Phantasm, three Lord of the Dead? Oh, I don't think so. You guys both seem to really enjoy it. I love this one. It's great. So far, it's a saw trajectory where I'm like, I'm on board. I'm gonna go out with all up. So we'll see what is the saw seven of the, or, I didn't love five, I guess. Five was the answer. Yeah, I bet six is so good. Yeah. If you haven't watched this yet, go watch it. No, because I just love one of the new characters in this so much. Oh, yeah. I also really enjoy this. I think that it has the excitement of two without the downsides of all the Liz and father, whatever, the fox scenes. Yes, I agree. Ford. So I feel like this one there's constantly things happening.
There's constantly something happening, concerning a cast member of the original. Yeah. So there's no scenes where it's like, I'm watching this girl and her sister. Yeah. Who the fuck are these people? Every story in this, whether it's a B plot or what? It's one of the OG three doing something. Yeah. That's big points for it in that column and it's a fun movie. And we get more of the quad barrel shotgun. More quad barrel. He I love that we just because we we know it is pretty sure he threw it away. He threw it. Yes, that we he does. We talk about that in the episode. Yeah. He's like, he's like, oh, I'm out of ammo. And we're even like, why wouldn't he just go back and grab it and we're like, yeah, he's out of ammo, but he must have walked like 10 feet out that dorm and like, nah, I got it, which is a good call because it gets used to spectacular effect in this. I think the filmmaking continues to improve too. Like, I've really enjoyed seeing the movie making get better with each movie.
I do think that this movie for all the reasons that you guys said makes me like too less because it's not the original characters as much or the original cast. And it does feel like this was the better version of the more action heavy fantasy. I agree. I agree with that. I think. Yeah, because I would put the new characters in this one over like Liz and the priest. Chemie's cool. She can. Chemie was real. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, chemie was cool. But okay, I guess we are in it with Lord of the Dead, which as we said, starts with just more reminders and flashbacks. Why is it called that? Is it because Lord of the Dance was huge at this point in time? I don't know. I just feel like. Because the calm man's Lord of the Dead. Yeah. He lords over the dead. Because Lord of the Dance, if you were around in the 90s, was everywhere. I went and saw it live. Oh, yeah. Yep. So we're back to that fucking fireplace. We're seeing that picture of Mike with his guitar hero
looking guitar and the little dog and this picture. I don't know how we didn't mention it in either of the last two episodes. Did we not? No, we didn't. I know we didn't in the first one. We didn't mention it at all. Yeah. It's toward the end of the first phantasm where Mike is thinking of Jody. It's when he's packing up right for the road trip and he pulls out this picture of Jody. And yeah, Jody, it's like a Polaroid of Jody with his guitar and this dog. The white dog. With this dog. And I, if I didn't already have a Halloween costume, I would just be this with Molly. Yeah. That'd be so good. I could be Mike. Yes. Yeah. Yep. But yeah, was it boy, abduction, then we get some of part two's. Yep. Fighting the job was in the house and the house explodes. Yeah, this goes like a level farther than Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 where that one is just reusing clips from the first one. But this one's using clips from the first and the second one. Yeah, but it's not half the runtime.
I know that's true. But it just, you know, it just all keeps piling on top of itself. Yeah, for sure. I mean, we're seeing the end with like Liz and stabbing him and chemi and her hair falling off. But then, yeah, Reggie is thrown out of the hers like he was at the end of the second movie. But in the second movie, it looks like he's dead and here he just gets back up and then washes the hers drive away and blow up. Yep. And he goes over there and we're done with Liz. I love that immediately. We're blowing up a car. Yeah. They're like, we know what you're here for. We're going to blow up this hers. And I'm fine with them getting rid of Liz. It's, no, I'm glad they got rid of her. I think she's a pretty good singer. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to Liz, but you're just, you're from the wrong type of horror movie. I'm sure there'd be a better home for you somewhere else. Yeah. You know, we'll drop her off at like how Reggie tries to drop him off. Yeah. But she won't get in the trunk because she's not in the right kind of horror movie.
Well, drop her off at the psychic teenager farm. Yeah, the telekinetic teenager. Yeah. Orphidage. Yeah. Run around there. Have fun. Make friends. Make friends. Yeah. Play dolls telekinetically. They're getting chased by by jealous. They're everywhere. They're everywhere, but luckily Reggie magically has the quad-birl shotgun again. I am bothered that when he shoots it upward, Jow will start dropping, but only three. They should have just gone through four. Should have done the fourth. And did they think it was a step too silly? I don't know. She knocked out four and one blast last time. Yeah. Do it again. Maybe they just didn't have a fourth like dummy. Yeah, that could be good. Oh, maybe it was just like, God damn it. We left on. I could say it's been a big scare. Yeah. Yeah. Like it's it was only a meant to be one at first. And they were like, okay, we've got one and two backups just in case. They're like, but what have we used all the really? Yeah. Yeah, they got the safe. They got the one shot. They're like, all right, we got it. Okay. But let's do this for fun. This one's fun. And it doesn't matter if we
fuck these up. Yeah. This is silly one. Yeah. Uh, prog. I again, just part of my list of props. This is what I want to own is one of the Java dummy. A lurker dummy. Yeah. Tallman takes Liz's head. He's just walking around with Liz's head. Like he's from Intruder. Just swinging it around. And then he gets Reggie pulls out a grenade and is like, if you try to take us, I'll blow all of this up. I will turn us all into red mist. I will fuck. I will fuck all of our shit up so bad. And Tallman's like, dude, you're fucking crazy. Okay. Damn. Yeah. And Tallman's like, well, I want Mike not in pieces. Now he wants Mike. So now we know the extent of his powers. If you are ground up into a place, he can't put you back together. Yeah. What he needs is a Java mold so that he can take ground human, put him in a mold. You got a creepy crawler's laugh. Yeah. Put him in the oven with the metal tray and the little plastic fork.
That's like such a fun idea for a like 80s B movie type like like zombies, but they're ground up people that are put into molds and baked. Baked and added to the mold. Yeah. So gross. I love it. That cast iron metal thing would get so hot though. My first blister came from the creepy crawler oven. For sure. Scard me, not physically mentally. I was so terrified of it. And the smell. Yeah. Yeah. That was a unique smell. That plastic. I like it. Yeah, right? It's probably so bad for us. The kids often. Your nose right up against it waiting for that dinghy go off. Yeah. So two years later, Mike is still in a coma in a hospital. And he is having visions of his dead brother who looks a lot older in his visions than when he has met. Yeah. It sucks that you had like even in death. The time comes for us all. Yeah. He's not imagining 70s.
He's hung while all this is happening. I just need to point out the tall man is like watching everything. He's watching the proceedings from this sick looking room somewhere with candles. And he's got a sentinel that turns into a crystal ball. It's like the palantir. Yeah. Or I think of Ursula from the little mermaid. Oh. And then Mike is Ariel. Yeah. And he's fucking around with a sentinel. And it turns out that the sentinel has a little brain inside. And he brings them. There were many moments in this movie that all of us were like, oh. The sentinels are sentient. The sentinels have brains. The sentinels have brains inside, dude. That means when you crush that one with his hand, shouldn't like some like brain gook if come out. That's true. Some brain goop if come out. continuity error. Yeah. But yeah, the tall man kind of appears in Jody's or in Mike's we're still mixing them up. The tall man appears in Mike's dream as kind of a nurse. And
is like go towards the light, Mike. It's awesome. And then Jody shows up and is like, don't do it, Mike. Way. And this nurse has this contraption. I don't know if it's the tall man as a nurse. Maybe he's always he's like, he loves being hot chicks. Yeah. He has a contraption with like needles and worrying blades and stuff. And he's trying to stick it in Mike. But Reggie and his ponytail come back and save him. And she is there's a sentinel in her head. It's like a person. No, see, it's not tall man. It's a sentinel driven nurse. Oh, yeah, I forgot we can do that. Yeah, we can do that. Yeah. There are sentinel in people. Oh, that's right. Because we'll get to it. Yeah. That's a concept introduced in this one. But then there's a brain inside the sentinel. So the sentinels in the person's brain mix and match. Yeah. Right. It's like nesting doll of consciousness. So what, theoretically, they could take the jody sentinel and put it in the jody body in like a terminator
robot type thing. Oh, dude, you're talking about putting a sentinel with a human brain inside of it. Jody's brain in it inside in like a giant mech suit. Yeah, I was gonna say it's basically a mech suit. At that point, isn't it? Yeah. Could you take the jody's brain out of the sentinel and just put that directly in the terminator, mech suit? I feel like the sentinel is why it is still alive or why it works. Oh, it's like keeping it alive. Yeah, I think you take the brain out. You kill it, you know? That's possible. Yeah. Okay. It's like when you're a kid and you realize like you can't really keep a pet slug because they have to be in the soil. You can't just put them in a thing and take them out. No one else would like grab slugs from outside and learn the hard way that once you put them, even if you poke the holes in the top, they need moisture. They like sugar. Why don't you put dirt in the jar? Because I was so little. But old enough to torture bugs. I wanted it as a pet.
No, I had little bug. I forget what they were called, but like the wood in with the screen. Yes. Yeah. I did too. I think my parents caught on very quickly that I was interested in keeping little critters in my room. They got me the appropriate. You lift up logs or like stepping stones. Oh, it's a fucking mecca down there for you to grab those bugs and put them in. Didn't even care about grabbing bugs back then. That's weird. Now I'm like, yeah. Yeah. Kids. Reggie's getting a lot of yellow blood in his face and his mouth during the fight with his nurse. It's like the involving fluid blood. I feel. No, but what is it actually? Oh, practice it. That's what yoga pudding. Is it really? I don't know. Maybe. I mean, I think that's what Nickelodeon slime is. Really? It's like pudding? Yo, or yeah, I know it was like oatmeal. Really? I know for a while it was like it was on flavored yogurt. I'm pretty sure. I don't know what it is. Do they still slime people? I think so. That's a dream of mine still. I don't know if that's true.
To get slime. I feel like COVID would have killed it. Getting slime. I bet after COVID, they're like, you know what? We stopped doing the slime during COVID and we realized we're saving a lot of money. We don't really need to keep doing this. Kids don't give a shit about it. It's like having something open for 24 hours. Yeah. COVID casualty, man. The Sentinel also has like an eye that's like that door at job is palace. Yeah. I also thought it was palace. And then it just fucking it sees that Mike is awake and it eats itself out the window to go tattle again. The conversation between this series and Star Wars. It just I feel like they're just bouncing things back and forth like pong. And it's just so funny that it does ultimately culminate with Captain Fessma. It's so appropriate. Okay. Is this one they get to? Is it Rajee's house? They yeah. He's Mike is talking to Jody who's a Sentinel. Jody's in a ball. And then they go back
to a house that I thought was the house we've seen blow up a bunch of times. But I guess it's not. It's just a different house with a similar interior because it also has a fire point. It's all just the same blueprint for a set they're building over and over again because they have to blow it up. Besides we might need to shoot some flashbacks here. So just make it all the same. But no, this house looks more like it's in the middle of nowhere. And then Tallman appears with one of his little portal forks. Yeah. So apparently he can just set these up wherever. I mean, he did in the last one kind of. But yeah, the tuning forks. We very explicitly get that they're just like little doorways. He can set up wherever. Yeah. They're not fixed. It happens in the hallway of this house and like blasts a little. It's got cool little cinch marks on the wall. I like this. Yeah, when it's gone. I really like that detail. It scorches the wall on the floor. Very terminator. Yeah. Uh-huh. But he comes through and he fucking body slams Reggie and he burns the Jody ball. Yeah, he scorches it. Yeah, it turns him into
like burnt metal and then he abducts Mike with him and now Mike's gone. Yeah. We just got him back. I know. We gotta go save him. So now we get we're with Reggie and the burnt up the crispy Jody ball. Yeah. And Reggie's like listening to it and listen, I know that that's apparently Jody. But I've seen what these balls do. I am not putting it up next time. No, he's friendly. Yeah. So are dogs. You want to put your face in their face and then have something happen and then they they go off. Yeah. Hi Molly. Oh, here's gun. That's so scary. The like Jody Sutton all getting burnt up made me feel the same way as like when Wally at first you think his memory is gone. You know, like because it's he's such a cute little like not human object now. Yeah. That kind of makes noises and is able to gesture and for some reason that's just so fucking cute to me. I'm glad that he didn't just we didn't just get Jody back and then nope, sorry. I guess no one's
gone forever in Phantasm. Apparently. Like, said, what is it? Did you expect Jody to come back? No. Definitely not. You thought he was one and done? Yeah. Like we were moving on? Yeah, because Reggie came back and because they made this weird point of like at the end of one being like Jody died in the car accident. And so I thought like, oh, well, this is like a fixed point of motivation for Mike. Uh-huh. You know, but I guess I was very glad of it though because I really did miss Jody's presence in two. Yeah. Like even in this one where he's very different. He's so necessary. It's so important just just as like to fill out that kind of triumvirate of uh of Jody, Mike, and Reggie. Like they all really do bring something else to the table and none of them are really one whole person on their own. Yeah. You know, so that you really need everybody to fill out, um, you know, what our main character collectively kind of is. Yeah. I do think that Jody being back even,
he's not in a ton of it, but just his presence. I think then allows the script to let Reggie get a little crazier because in the second one, he has to be both action Reggie and father figure Reggie. Big brother. Yeah. And this is like he's still kind of, but I mean, he's still kind of that father figure, but uh, this is just we're leaning even further into action. Reggie. Action and horny, Reggie. Horny, Reggie. Reggie gets a little pesty in this one. He's a little, he's kind of, but he's kind of a pesty in this one. Reggie, wagging the finger. Luckily his um, opposite in this can hold her own. Yeah. And I do think one scene with them is genuinely very funny. Yeah, you need all three. You got the father of the son and the holy ice cream ice cream. Yes. The triumvirate. Yeah. I would love a phantasm tarot set. That'd be cool. Oh, that would be that might exist. Card. It probably exists. Yeah. Maybe. All right. So Reggie is being
told by the ball to go to Holtzville Idaho. Only movie series that concerns itself with traveling across the Northwest United States. Yeah. I was thinking about that most kind of road trip. E-moves are just right in the middle of a country. Yeah. Or like, you know, at the very least going over the top of Texas or something. Yeah. They're not going up to Idaho. Yeah. That's kind of fun. Get a little harbinger character at a gas station with the sign advertising, Burrera's and Colts and Q-tips. I think that sign is really funny. Yeah. And he tells him not to go to Holtzville. So he's fulfilling his purpose. Thank you, Harbinger. Holtzville Population Zero, apparently from a toxic spill a couple of years back, but we know what's up. It's the tall man. Harbinger is a solid character to be in a horror movie. I'm realizing as an actor. No, like if you were like transported into a horror movie and you had to be like an archetype. You got
to be okay. Be in dirty. I feel like they often don't have running water. Yeah, but Harbinger, I feel like 95% of the time lives. They seem like they are employed. They work at the gas station. I don't know if business is booming. Yeah, but you know, you've got at the very least you can go and eat chips. Yeah. Yeah. I just feel like, you know, you got your one pair of overalls. One of the buttons doesn't latch anymore. There are flies around. You're always like swatting at flies. It's not the life for me. Yeah. But the shit you're covered in, and all the things that you can be covered in in a horror movie. That's true. I'll take it. Employment-based fluids. Oh, my oil is in graces. Yeah. You know, we're all the stuff came from. Okay. What dimension this all the goo came from? I don't know, man. You're going to be dealing with shit-heal kids. They're going to be disrespecting you. Yeah, then I get to watch them all get fucking murdered. You tell us. You tell us listeners. Would you like to be a harbinger in a horror movie?
There's a lot of them. I'd be so good at it. And sometimes they do get killed. Crazy Ralph and Friday too. I know. That's why I said like 95. Yeah. I was like, I know there's some, but your odds are pretty good. And you don't have to do anything. You just sit there. Okay. Anyway. In Holtzville, Reggie finds a babe in a real babe outfit. She's going through a car. This is a scene from the stand. This entire thing. Oh, yeah. It's like Reggie just rolled up into the middle of the stand mini series and is about to find Shawnee Smith. And he kind of does. This character is very Shawnee Smith in the stand. Yeah. So it's her. She's got her boy toy. And there's like a random old guy with them. But yeah, she just pulls a gun. She's a giant like magnum. And yeah, it's her in this like her tall boyfriend. And then a you know, yeah guy who's just to use car salesman. Yeah. Great. They knock Reggie out, put him in the trunk of his own car, and then drive that car, the CUDA, and their pink curse. Their ride is a pink curse. Very cool. This series is so great
because why the fuck would they have this? Who cares? It's cool. I would love to drive a pink curse around. This is such a car where if you saw this in LA, you would know it was probably being driven by Dita Vante's or Jayla. Or something terrible happened to Anchaling. Don't even put that evil on this podcast. That's a session. Oh no. I'm sorry. She would though. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to do what you love. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. They go to this house. This big old house. It's like cool. A big house. It's got some graves out from. But whatever. Yeah. Some home, some very, uh, slobbly made, uh, they're not like professional. This is not a big. No, it's like two sticks tied together. This is a homegrown graveyard. Yeah. But they go in and they see like fucking grandma and grandpa from the Texas chainsaw mask are sitting in there. And he just shoots them. Yeah. Okay. This house. No questions. This house when they go in. So it's a Victorian house. So it already looks like a little dollhouse. They open the front door and even
just the wallpaper and shit is ugly. It's just like this very dark floral. And then there's fucking clowns everywhere. Like every surface of this house has clowns in it, which, just so many questions because I feel like, okay, sure, you've got a weird little kid that lives in here. I guess the clowns make sense. But it's, I think it's his grandma and grandpa's house, right? Oh, maybe. Or is it? I don't know. It's I don't know because he shoots these old people, but they are not, they're not alive at least. I don't know if they're taxidermied people or if they're just stuffed like scarecrow type things, but they're they're not real. Yeah. So I don't know if they're fake old folks. This could be part of the universal Hore Knights Mace. Is this clown out? Oh, we'll do the whole franchise. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Because then the little kid jumps out. Yeah. With this creepy mask, he's got like a, he's got, it looks like the happy death day. He's also got a red hoodie like, like, yeah, he's dressed like Elliott and yeah, it's like a baby mask. And he comes out and like, well, there's like a home alone trap of like a clown with knives sticking out
on the swings down and they jump out of the way. I've stuck through it. So they're coming out of it. Yeah. I think that's what it is. And then that's where the home alone comparison's coming. Exactly. And then Henry, the used car salesman, like grabs the kid, but the kid takes out a little like Tomahawk axe and he fucking throws it and it goes into this chick's forehead and just he fucking kills her. This kid just murders this woman right there. Edna gets an axe in her head. He's been practicing throwing that dude. Like, he don't just nail that first try. No, he nailed it, dude. Then they're like chasing him around. He goes out front. He throws a frisbee with straight razors taped to the edges and it's thing perfectly goes in an arc and slices open, uh, rufuses. Mack, he's the, he's Edna's hungry boyfriend. And he's just doing tall man deaths without magic. It's crazy. Yeah, which I say what is more impressive. It's very impressive. And his child then use car salesman starts to go after him, falls into a trap,
uh, like a whole dog. Yeah. Nope. No ponji sticks. I thought I was expecting ponji sticks, just based on this kid's whole vibe. But no, it's just a, it's a dug out grave. So this guy is six feet in the ground. And this kid does a warcraft. Yeah, this kid, this guy is begging to be let out. He's like, I'm sorry. All right. Just let me out. This kid stands at the edge of this open hole with their gun shoots this guy in the head. This man has been detained. He is, he is incapacitated. This kid don't care. He murders him in cold blood, dude. Yeah. This kid kills three people in the span of like three minutes. Yeah. He breaks several international laws. He said, you think I'm a cute kid? Nah. I like that logical extension of a home alone Kevin type character because Kevin is a little psychopath. Yeah. And I just love seeing even a glimpse of a movie where a home alone type child is an absolute sociopath just killing without mercy anyone that steps for and do
his house of traps. It's great. I also think generously. Yes. Uh, this is meant to show some juxtaposition between, uh, Tim and Mike. Mm hmm. Again, kind of going back to you. You need all three of them. What Jody and Reggie bring to Mike to kind of balance out being put in this extraordinary situation that like, you know, Mike is a survivor. We, you know, we've seen that in the last couple movies. Tim is clearly a survivor. But without the guidance of Jody and Reggie, he's this just like unrepentant killing machine. Yeah. And he doesn't have the kind of like value of life that uh, Mike gets from Reggie and Jody in like different ways. No one gave him the gun safety sheet. Exactly. And he's just constantly living in reactive fear. Yes. Where I think having a Jody and a Reggie, he's able to, you know, go on his adventures and look first one and feel brave enough
to do that stuff because he knows he's going to come home and have a supportive older brother or friend figure there. Whereas this kid's been alone for I think he says two years. Yeah, because he lets Reggie out of the trunk and talks to him about that we get another fireplace scene. He's to fight the fire. Yeah, it looks exactly the same. It's framed the same. And yeah, he says that like his dad was the sheriff of this town and then he died and at the funeral, he saw the tall man come back and take the coffin out of the ground. And then like the mom went over to see what the fuck was going on. The tall man like chokes slammed her into the hers. Yeah. And then he drove off but Timmy got into the hers. And then when the tall man noticed him, Timmy jumped out the fucking back glass window of this moving car. We love doing that in the series. We love throwing kids out the back windows cars. This is like the third time that happened. They're fine. They're kids. Yeah. They're okay. And so that's the flashback. There's an eye in a ball. I think it, I think the
Sentinel eyeball spying like it found them. It looks really good. I really like. Yeah, the effects in this one are very nice. Now we see apparently Ruggie salvaged the hemi kuda as well. I love that we just like two happens and it's like fuck. He left that gun and we blew up the bear kuda. We're just gonna bring them back and not really explain it. He does say I've been restoring that car for two years. I saw that car explode. I saw it like completely explode. He fixed it. I guess so he's really good. He's good at cars. Yeah. He can fix that. Yeah, so he salvages the hemi kuda. Sure. But now next morning, Pinkhurst is gone and the new graves that they dug for the three looters Edna Harry and Rufus. They're gone too. Those digs are those graves are empty. Yeah. Pinkhurst is gone. These three, I like them. They feel like they're also from a different horror movie.
Yeah, they feel like Billy from Hocus Pocus. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, uh-huh. Yeah, especially the car salesman. Yes. Yeah, I was getting like return to living dead like kind of like grimy zombie movie where it's supposed to. It's also like a sex comedy. That's kind of the feeling I'm getting from these three. They're they're so funny and out of place, but I like it. Also, this is the first time that we hear the name lurkers for the Jawas. Yes, we were wondering last episode where the fuck that even comes from. It comes from this. But they say that the lurkers took the bodies out of the grave. Uh, excuse me, that's the gravers. The gravers. Sorry, gravers got a grave and lurkers got a lurk. Yeah, we're I hope the gravers union got got word of this. Yeah, we're really overlooking the gravers contributions to the Tom. We really are. They pop up in like one scene each movie and then we kind of just ignore them. I know that everyone loves the Jawas. They're running around. They've got their little monster faces. They're shrunken dwarves, whatever. Give the gravers some respect. All right. They're job ain't easy. They're doing the manual labor. Yeah, you think
that you think they wouldn't rather be climbing around in trees and swinging around blonde chicks heads for the tall man. No, they got to put on their gas mask and go to work. Yeah. Give them some fucking respect. Timmy really wants to drive the honeycuda. Yeah. And right, you says no, I'm dropping you off at a home. Yeah, I'd orphanage for wayward. He just pulls up on this farm. This is a crazy thing. Like it's it's a woman. This is like middle of nowhere, this house. Uh, it's a woman, which is a bunch of kids running around in the yard. He pulls up and he's like, Oh, are these kids yours? And she's like, Oh, no. So we get the idea that she's just watching all of them. And so Reggie's like, here's one more. Yeah. Here's some money in a kid. She looks like out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Yeah, it feels very dust bowl like I have to take care of eight families kids. But Timmy ain't having that shit. He gets in that trunk as they're driving away. I love how we're
firmly in the 90s. And this implication of like this span between the Rockies and like Portland, anything goes. Yes, it is a no man's land. No one has any concept of these like towns disappearing. There's these just like wayward home for abandoned kids. And it's just like all these ghost towns and everything. And like it kind of I kind of bought it in the 70s. But like, mass media has existed for a long time now. We're on the cusp of the internet. It is, it is. It feels like playing the Witcher. Yeah, exactly. We're just wandering from town to town. Yeah, until you wander upon like the most fucked up shit you've ever seen. From real. It's just, oh, we're on to the next fetch quest. Like that lady would be a fucking witch in disguise. And she's eating all those kids. Right. Yeah, that's good. Reggie drives the Holtzville cemetery and
finds another Mausoleum. And he's walking around and a ball comes out and it's chasing him down the hall as the ball usually does. But then he gets attacked by a pair of ladies. And one of them gets drilled in the head. Sorry, Tunisha. Tunisha. Tunisha. We barely got to know Tunisha. And it cut down Tunisha's death scene to get an R rating. Really? Yeah, it was getting an NC 17. Damn. Yeah. But the other woman survives. She's got non-shocks and her name is Rocky. Yeah, I love her. Rocky. I love Rocky. I was looking at, I think it was when I was editing the podcast episode for the first phantasm. And Crassel at this point, I'd only seen the first phantasm. I was just looking at stills from the rest of these movies. And I got to one of Rocky where she's in a Mausoleum. And she's holding the nunchucks. And I'm like, Crassel, I'm looking at a picture right now that I wish I could show you because it's just so funny where all of this goes. I love Rocky. She's great.
She's got kind of a Grace Jones thing going on with the hair. Very athletic build. Yes. Yeah. Again, I always love the pairing of Reggie with a woman that could easily kick his ass. Yep. Good stuff. I like her. I just think she's neat. She nunchucks that ball and then it gets blasted by Timmy who shows up and is like, I'm here to save you. Yeah. And the three of them are a D&D party. Yeah. Like this thing. The balding ice cream man, the little kid with a gun, and Rocky with these nunchucks. It feels like a modern set tabletop role-playing thing. Absolutely. Yeah. Like it could be an animated series. Oh my god. With like, I'm imagining like a late 80s, 90s like title sequence. Where they're all like moving really fast and then it like, zoom sitting on a set knoll and then that becomes like, I can imagine exactly what you're describing. It flies by like the tall man and he's like laughing. Yeah. And then it keeps going. Yeah. Yeah. And then like, and then one ball comes at the end and it turns into
Jody and they laugh at the camera. Yes. Oh, make it happen. Oh, I wish I could draw and then animate and then have the time to do that. Yeah. So Rocky's like, thanks, but I'm on my own. So Reggie Letz, Tim. Reggie Letz, Timmy, drive the car. He looks like Anakin Skywalker here, man. He's one hippie short of some real popular. Yeah. Now that's a neat trick. But then they, you know, they drive away, but then they find Rocky hitchhiking. So how did she do that? Maybe they will throw it. I don't know. They're also listening to Jody ball on where to go. Oh, okay. Jody ball tells them to turn right. They do. Maybe they cut a scene where they do donuts and no parking lot. Reggie's just teaching Tim how to drive a stick. Yeah. And that takes like a day. Yeah. In a my apartment.
But now she's down to go with them. Yeah. And so they all cram into the CUDA and head east to specifically because they know they want to go to this town. And yes. And oh, what is in was it Bolton? Yep. What is in Bolton? The largest Gothic Muslim in the Western United States. I wonder who could have set up camp there. It just reminds me of like when tourist places have little superlatives like that because it's just so specific that it's like you had to make it that specific. We're like the tallest or were the largest Gothic mausoleum in the Western US. Yeah. You go east to the Mississippi. There are some pretty big Gothic mausoleums. But out west we got you. Yeah. Yeah. It's like sports records. They pull up to the baits motel. They need a room and Reggie swindles his way to being like, oh, you have one with two twins and one with Queen.
Hey, they only had one with the Queen. And hey, kid, could you sleep in the CUDA tonight? Yeah. And this kid does make the good point that he would actually rather sleep in the car than on the floor of this motel because we get to see the inside. They walk into this motel. The carpet. It's like shag carpet. It's brown. Everything's brown. It wasn't originally. Yeah. You know, it smells like smoke. So much like smoke, dude. Like smoke and then air freshener on top of it, like the spray. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So Reggie keeps pestering. This is when he's pestering. Yeah. He's being a little sex pest. She's trying to get some sleep and he's like, hey, come on. Why don't you touch my penis? Yeah. This is not a good guy, Reggie. No. But then Rocky says, okay, we can, but we have to do it my way. And she pulls out handcuffs. And Reggie's like, yes, fuck yeah. He's like, all right. I was a little unsure with Cammy, but now I know that some chicks roll like this. And I'm prepared. So then Rocky just handcuffs him so that he can't
move anymore. And then she just goes back to sleep, which I like. Yes. I think is funny. They see three horses driving by with the gravers. And then they find a bunch of horses parked and a bunch of gravers, but then they leave. Yeah. So now they're camping out overnight. Because they left to follow the gravers. And so like they're camping out nearby outside. And Reggie wakes up and Rocky's kissing him. And then they're back in a bed. Because this is Reggie's dream. Yeah. And he has a sex dream with Rocky in a gross motel bed while Jody sits in the cuck chair in the corner. Yeah. Someone actually uses the cuck chair. And it's Jody. And Reggie's just Donald Ducking it. Yes. Yeah. The whole time. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. It's ridiculous. She meanwhile does not. She is very topless in this. Yeah. But she's like so like into him. And she's like, Oh, you're so big. It's just like Reggie's fantasy. Yep. And then Jody's like, Hey, actually,
I'm going to open this motel room door. And now they're in a desert. A dry lake bed. Yeah. Yeah. Matt Jody magic. Jody magic. Yeah. So this is still in the dream. Yeah, they're in this dry lake bed. And this is the stuff in this movie I like is I do think we get some of the weirder imagery like this like dry lake bed. It's cool. I don't know. It's ran. It's daytime. All of a sudden in there. Mm-hmm. I like it. Well, the motel door opening to it is really cool. Yes. I love that walking out of the motel. Like the fucking wizard. Yeah. I also think that Jody's whole like leather jacket like aging rocker look really works for this. He really gives guy who's done peyote. Yes. You know, you would you would hang out with him in a dry lake. Yeah. Right. Then they step through a doorway and they're in a mausoleum that's green. Yeah, because Jody projects tuning. Oh, okay. Yep. And so Reggie steps through it. He's in a mausoleum. It's green, but then it's red.
And he's got Mike in a box. Mm-hmm. Uh, tall man's got Mike in a box behind some plexiglass. So is the okay? Because we know Mike is actually gone. Like he's missing. He is kidnapped. Yes. Or I guess a dog. But what is this whole thing? Well, apparently it's it's not just a dream because they physically do this right? Because they go through the tuning fork portal. They wind up in the mausoleum where the tall man has Mike Mike in a box and then Jody ball uses a blue laser to cut into the stone and free Mike. Mm-hmm. And that actually happens. But then later in the movie, when Mike gets captured again by the tall man, the tall man's like welcome home and it makes it sound like they haven't seen each other in forever. But he just had him in a box. I don't think that makes it sound like they haven't seen each other in a while. Mm-hmm. You could leave. Yeah. And then come back tonight and I'll be like, well, you know, I just think that line from you would
hit harder if it's like this is like finally he's got him. Well, we didn't see he might have said that to him this first time. You just saying that. Got him there and was like welcome home Mike. And then he ran off. He's like, fuck. And then he gets in bags like welcome home Mike again again. Stay here. He's trying to be a good host. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Tall man is nothing. Relax Mike. Relax inside this little box. Where are they called in the mausoleums? Where you put a crypt? Like the little the the drawers. Oh. This isn't just a crypt. No crypt is like you go in it. Yeah. And you can have like a bunch of people there. What would the individual? Yeah. Like the floppy. The filing cabinets of the deal. Yeah, I forget. Uh-huh. That's called. That's not a relief. No. I don't know. Anyway, uh, Tall man reappears and puts him in a ball. Jody is now holding a Sentinel with the red beam and let's Mike come back through. Yeah, because they get they get Mike. We're good. We grab Mike and what they go through a portal to get
back to the campsite. Yeah, they go through the tuning forks to get back. And so the tuning forks are chilling there at the campsite too. Yeah. As they're coming out. Yeah. And then Tall man's like, I want to come to and he sticks his hands through and his face. And then they're like, Reggie, do the thing. Reggie, do the fucking tuning fork thing. And we get a flashback to when Reggie was a little younger in the first movie and he did the tuning fork thing. And then he does the tuning fork thing here. Tall man pulls his face back. We don't, but he's not his hands and his hands get cut off. Yeah. The tuning fork, uh, portal closes. But it's the Tall man. So some weird shits got to happen. Those hands that get chopped off turn into little critters. They're like, yeah, they're like, they're like, dark for a stranger things like you said. Yeah. They're just like little baby demagoguins. And we're shooting them with guns. I feel like maybe there's a more effective way to get them. They're so tiny. Yeah, they're crawling around. They go up Reggie's pants, I think. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, yeah, I think Tim manages to shoot one and they burn the other.
So the fun little diversion. Yeah. Again, shits constantly happening in this. Because then they hit the road, Jack. And fucking pink curses behind them. Yeah. Driven by the little guys forget about these guys. Yeah. This is one it seems because like they disappeared out of the graves. And then I forgot about them. And then they show up again here. And they're laughing. They're having a good time totally unnecessary character. Yeah, this is a little wacky racers. They're very, they're very just zombie henchmen. Yeah. Like they're just laughing, like laughing, but I don't hate them. Yeah. The makeup looks good. The answer was niche. It's a niche that they put on and crypt. Oh, okay. A niche is designed to hold an urn and a crypt is an above ground chamber built to hold a full size casket. Oh, so then I think they're crypts. Yes, this would have been a crypt. That was right. So the crypts are in the mausoleum. Mm-hmm. Because you have like the family crypt and there's a bunch of people in it. Mm-hmm. Okay. Reggie uses his quad shotgun. Does the only important thing in the scene is
Reggie uses. Dude, he's, because he shoots Edna, the lady, and her body falls out. It's a dummy that falls out and then gets run over by the horse. It gets run over. It looks great. And then the pink horse goes flying. Yeah, it hits a rock and does like a quintuple fucking spin. And this car, this hers, blows up twice somehow. Why not? Why not have it blow up twice? It looks like they really fucking blew this thing up. Yeah. It's like it doesn't look like a miniature. Like that is a real pink curse that they blew up. Twice. Is this the one where we saw the like California hers society or whatever in the credits? Oh, yeah, that's right. It was like a special thing special thanks. Yeah, the kudos front tires are fucked up so they have to continue on foot. They get into the mausoleum and it's pretty empty but they do find a bad of liquid nitrogen. And Mike is like, yo, I want to dip in dots. What? Mike's like, yo, I want to have a
flashback to the first movie because it'll actually be me and we can forget about that guy in the second one. So remember when I was me, but as a kid and I saw a tall man across the street and that cold blasted him and I guess he looked uncomfortable. I thought he looked pretty fucking cool. I was going to say I don't think he looked uncomfortable. I thought he looks swag. He's fun. But now they're saying no, no, that was him looking uncomfortable. And actually he doesn't like the cold. So we found a week. That's news to me. Hey, just put it on the pile. Put it on the pile of stuff we're doing with Phantasm. It's like in leprechaun movies where randomly they're like, oh, he has a weakness to steal or like barbed wire or iron. Yeah. Yeah. Like we just make up different week. Well, that's like fairy war. Yeah, I know. But it's like, yeah, they never addressed in the first one and then it comes up in a second. And then the third one they're like, oh, and appendent. Yeah. Yeah. We just keep adding things. Uh-huh. I wonder what Brussels reaction to leprechaun would be. Oh my god. We've already put we've already put a knife middle aged men
through that movie series. Yeah. We've already tortured. We hate movies enough with leprechaun. Oh, and there's heads in the liquid nitrogen tank. Yeah. There's floating heads. And there's like a cryogenics thing. Yeah. Heads unrelated to the tall man. Tall man. This is just part of it. Yeah, because Reggie's like, these are rich idiots who think they're going to wake up 20 years later. Yeah. It's like Walt Disney. I was going to say, yeah, Disney's in there. Um, Nixon. Yes. Uh-huh. So they're like, okay, it's pretty quiet. I guess we'll walk around as Mike lays there with his brother ball on his forehead. Yes. To learn what's things. Because Jody can learn what's things. Yeah. Good. Jody can catch him up on what the tall man has been up to you. And apparently the tall man has been up to building a giant army. Yeah. He's got his little dwarf arm. I feel like we knew this already. But sure, let's go over it again. Tall man is a mashing
army of little dwarf bodies that he crunches down so that they can withstand the higher gravity on the other. It's like Mike. Mike knows this. He's explaining the first movie. You're the one that explained all of this to us. Yeah. But now, Jody further explains they take the brains out of the little javas. So the little javas are just acting on instinct and impulse. And they take the brains and they put them in the balls. So you got the java bodies. They turn the bodies into drones and the minds into killers. That's right. Yeah. Meanwhile, Reggie is like laid out on a slab. I forget how this happens. He's, no, he's cooking beans and a cremation of him. He's cooking baked beans. Wait, are we thinking of different things? I think we have anything of different scenes. The one where the zombie chick gives him a blowjob. That is right here. Okay. It's not only I guess we are thinking of the same thing. You can't eat cremation beans. It'll give you nightmares. It's gonna really mess with your stomach. And you're gonna have a sex dream
where, oh, we know it's not a dream. It's actually real. He actually got his dick sucked by a zombie. Because she's back. Even though she got shot with the quad mirror. We saw her get run over. So are the others too. Even though they were in a car that did a quintuple trip and blew up twice. I guess they just walked here. Yeah. The dude zombies take Tim. Mike is still having dreams with his ball brother. And Reggie's dealing with zombie chick. So, okay. Are the zombies? Do they have anything to do with the tall man? Are they just their own? No, they're acting at his direction because they wheel in Tim here. That's right. Yeah. Okay. So why do they just stay normal size? That's a good question, Han. I love this implication, Chelsea, that you're making of like they are unrelated monsters who are just maybe working as mercenaries. There's other forces at play in the American Northwest.
Yes. That include unrelated zombies. They're like black water. Like they're just being drawn in. We've got Palantir. We've got Palantir. Oh my god. The tall man. Oh, just some fucking shit. He's on that government contract. This movie was so out of it. Oh yeah. There's like a stealing full of setinels. There's just a whole bunch of balls on the ceiling. Yeah. I hated this. I don't think it's imposing or scary. I kind of agree. I think it looks like a net with Christmas ornaments. Yeah. Christmas ornaments. I think it looks like there's nothing about this that is like an evocative image. I think it would have been freakier personally if they were all in like uniform. Like a grid. Yeah. Yeah. Agreed. And instead they are like kind of loosely dangling. They're just shaking a little bit. But it doesn't look like they're floating supernaturally. It's very much like you're putting up decorations for Christmas. And you're
like, man, I got this box of ornaments that like we don't really use anymore. There's like bubbles. I'm like, oh, you know, be cool. Actually, we could like hang them from the ceiling. It'd be so cute. But then you do it. And it looks just kind of stupid. Yeah. But you've worked really hard on it. So you just leave it up. And people come home. It takes me longer to take them down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. People come over and see it and like they don't say anything. They don't say it looks good. They don't say it looks bad. But no one talks about it. You're just standing there like bubbles. Oh, man. Yeah. Tall man tells Mike that it's time for him to come back to him. Yeah. And remember he said welcome home. Yeah. There's this whole thing. First we got to have some zombie hijinks. Yeah, yeah. Is this the babe fight? There's a babe fight. Rocky accidentally hits Reggie with the nunchucks. But then she beats the other chick down. And I love how the subtitle say nunchaku. Yeah. She yeah, she whoops out her nunchaku to beat down the zombie.
And kicks her off the second story and the zombie chicks like laying there with her with her leg bent in that way that you do when you are supposed to be a dead body in a movie. To show like I'm dead, you know, the one leg bent out. Jody ball cuts Tim free. There's a lot going on right now. Yeah, because it's cross cutting between the action sequence and then Tall man being like all that is unknown will be known to you once more. Oh, and then after he sets Timmy free the Jody set and all twists his on these head off. I really like this effect. Yeah, Jody ball does the does the set and all thing. It's got like the little side the wings that go into the one guy's head. And then since they can fly and since he's embedded in there, it flies. It spins around and fucking twists his head off. It's pretty cool. Yeah. And then Reggie shoots the other guy in the face with his quad shot. Yeah, his head comes off like the do you remember like those plastic like cool aid drinks, you know, like the tab on the top. Yeah. Or it's like since I just covered it from beyond Jeffrey Cums's head at the end gets like twisted off. It's pretty gross. Tall man takes
that same device that the nurse had in the beginning with the blades and the worry and everything. And he's preparing to cut into Mike's head with it, but they stop him by freezing a rod and sticking it into him. And like into his chest and tall man grabs it, but because it's they made it cold with the liquid nitrogen, his hands melt when he grabs it. And it looks super. I look we have this kind of effect last movie to where we have like this melting skin. It was also like wax like a melting wax. It might be like melting wax with liquid latex. Over it. Yeah, like layers of stuff. I love this effect. It's so gross. Yeah. And they put him in the freezer cryogenic like it's freaky. And they're like we got him, but then his face shatters and a ball comes out. There was a ball in the tall man. There's this whole time. There's been a ball in there. Tall was ball. And then it flies out the window of the cryogenic thing and it chases after Tim. Oh, and then zombie chicks back because
she was just faking with her leg bent. And we see a ball flying down a hallway. We see a bad guy grabbing a good guy from behind and they're struggling. We know what's going to happen. This is a gold set. No, too. This is oh, yeah, because the the tall ball is a gold set. Oh, it's got to be. And so bad guy holding good guy from behind. Good guy struggling balls coming out of him. You know, good guys going to get out of the way that happens. Tall ball straight through the head. Blasts a whole like a perfect. Perfect round shape. Yeah, like a cannonball. Yeah, a cartoon. I like that. It looks like that. It's silly, but I love the idea that the sentinels can do. Tall ball is still going after Reggie, but he grabs a plunger and he gets the tall ball by the plunger. And then they put that in the cryo chamber and shut it. Yeah, that's pure working class aura. I was just going to say I love that the solution isn't like we have to go and find the secret book
that's hidden in the temple, that church that was 250 years old. It's a plunger. It's a plunger. It's like those red green ashes like dog tape because some dog tape and a plunger. Red rubber plunging mechanism wouldn't handle. That's all you need. If she can't find your handsome, she can at least find your hand. Exactly. But now it's revealed that Mike has ball in his head. I love the effect of his eyes. I really. Tell them. Are we doing this? Are they contact? I am magical. I got to be so uncomfortable. Probably very uncomfortable, but yeah, he's got like a ball in his head because he's got like a wound and it reveals that there's a ball back there. He's also a ball. He's a ball brain. And his eyes are still there. So with that, like, part of the connection with him and the tall man, like they both have. That's how it was like welcome home. Yeah. Is it like a Harry Potter Voldemort thing where you know, because their whole thing was like they have like the same stuff in both their wands, I think. And it's like
that's like super rare. Oh, and maybe that I don't know. Okay. This is better than Harry Potter, though. Yeah, he's got balls for eyes. He looks real creepy. Yeah, it's a really nice effect, especially since these are nighttime scenes. So the light just kind of catches it. Yeah, he like wanders off. He's like, leave me alone. I'm a ball boy. Don't talk to me. I'm a ball boy. And he runs off. Then Jody is there and he tells Reggie, I'll be in touch. Then he turns into a ball and flies away. Yeah, he flies away after Mike. He's like, I don't know. We'll figure it out. Reggie, all your friends are balls, man. I'm sorry. Reggie's like, wait, I'm not fair. Then Rocky pulls up. She's in the purse and she's like, listen, I don't need any more ball man in my life. And I'm out. It feels like she's about to pull up to be like, hey guys, where we going next. But in such, she's like, I can't do this. She's like, I'm done. I'm leaving the party. She does give a little secret handshake to Tim that is apparently at some point they developed.
Yeah. So that's fun. And she gives Reggie a hug. But then she says enough of that and drives away leaving Tim or not leaving Reggie with Tim, who's hopefully not a ball. Yeah. I'm glad that he doesn't get the girl in this one. He didn't. He didn't deserve it. You went too far. Yep. Let that be a lesson, Reggie. Hope you learn, I hope you're better in the next one. All right. There's room for growth. We got to make sure we get that shotgun, Mack. Yeah. He's like, I get that shotgun. And you know, we got to find out what happened to Mike. There might be a clue inside. Let's go back inside to look for clues. What's your mark? Just the vague idea of clues. Yeah. And then they realize the cryo chamber that they put the ball in is tipped over. And then Timmy is in the cryo chamber. It's empty. But he and he comes out and Reggie is held against the corner of the wall by all the balls that were I'm selling again. Doesn't look great. Doesn't look great. And Tim's there. And then Tallman is like, it's never over. And does the by now ubiquitous
grabbing through the glass crash to end the movie. Dude, if you're in the Phantasm series and you're like a little kid standing next to a window, you're not safe. It's like it's like it's the Phantasm equivalent of being in a canoe in the lake at the end of a Friday, the 30th. Yes. You don't want to be there. You're going to get grabbed. Right. Yeah. Someone's touching you. Someone's touching you. This Phantasm 3. I honestly do not remember anything about four, including what it does with where we left off with. No, same. I don't remember anything. I don't know. Because that would have been the point in the night where like we were not sober. I don't think. You know. We live in a California. We had it in Kansas. Yeah. Yeah. We had an enhanced experience. And so I think I just don't have any memory of it. Yeah. You did the whole joe Bob marathon. Yeah. So yeah. That there's no way any of this makes any sense. Yeah. So before we watch four, we'll watch the joe Bob clips from three. Cool. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We didn't really talk about you seeing the joe Bob clips for part one, which we watched before two. And then there's not a
joe Bob for two. But you like joe Bob? I did. I thought it was great. I really enjoyed that. I think that type of presentation for a show is amazing. I wish that there was more of it. I think we broadly as a society need curators. And I really dug that format. You know, I've said it before. I think it's one of the great things about what you guys do is how good a curators you are. And I think it's an important role for people to have with art and miss it. And I feel like that show, it doesn't make you feel bad when you don't know of something that I bring up. Because the whole joke is he like knows fucking everything. And so it feels like you're all just kind of collectively listening to talk about stories. Yeah. Like any of our stories. And I think that's so important is like, yeah, the idea of a curator, but also not feeling intimidated. Yes. For sure. What's being presented to you? And just to tease a little something, we may have something in that vein coming
up soon on the channel. I won't say it'll be as knowledgeable as joe Bob. Nothing ever could be. Yeah. But we might be we might be presenting and curating a little something something for you on the channel in October. So stay tuned for that. Also, I think timeline wise, this is the last time you'll see me with this beard. Thank God. I'm so ready to get rid of it. It's just so white. It's so white. I like that's got the specific parts where it's white. Yeah. Do you like it? I like it. Okay. I think once it starts getting like this is the longest I feel like I'd be. Yeah. And also like it could be much better trimmed and even. Yeah. It's like sticking out. And that's on purpose for the thing I'm shooting in a couple of days. But can't wait to be feel like myself again. Sure. Cool. So that was phantasm 3. Yes. Also next week is off on the podcast. Okay. So we have two and three back to back week off and then four and five back to back. That is going to be the release
schedule. Just bear with us. You may have already seen the video I put out saying September's release schedule is just what it can be because we're doing a lot over here. I promise it'll pay off. Yeah. Yep. Just be patient. A lot going on over here. Great. Thank you all. So much. So until next time I am Chelsea. I'm James. And that's Grassel. And this has been the Dead Meat Podcast.
