Ogawa’s dies of alcoholism, leaving family in hardship. Ogawa dreams of a career in film-making, even stealing from Mother to buy magazines and go to movies. Sister dies tragically, and Ogawa is more isolated. He secures job with Warner Brothers in Tokyo, but is so lonely, he listens to radio, hears Christian message that contradicts his belief in fatalism. He reads the Bible and believes, receives Christ. Ogawa helps launch Christian drama on radio, including “Unshackled!"
