1913. De Engelse componist Gustav Holst zit in een depressie en zoekt naar antwoorden in zijn sterrenbeeld. Door een boek over astrologie begint hij aan een nieuw orkestwerk: The Planets. Een zevendelige suite waarin elke deel opgedragen is aan een planeet. Alsof het in de sterren geschreven stond, was de première in 1920 een groot succes. Ook filmcomponist John Williams haalde voor Star Wars de mosterd bij dit meesterwerk.
