264: Half Life Alyx, PS5 Controller and What Makes a Good Shooter?
About this episode
Half Life Alyx is finally here! This is the next game in the Half Life series from Valve. It's a surprising departure in the series as it's exclusively available on virtual reality. Austin plays it on the HTC Vive and has some things to share in his first impressions. Brett also finally beats Borderlands 3 and talks about his final impressions of the full game from start to finish.
In the news, Sony unveils the new DualSense controller for PS5. We don't have the console reveal yet but the controller is looking pretty snazzy. We also discuss Fallout's new expansion for Fallout 76, Mech's coming to No Man's Sky and also a big partnership Epic Games announced with some big indie developers.
In our discussion, Brett and Austin talk about "what makes a good shooter?" We dive into a lot of aspects, have some disagreements and ultimately discover there are so many different factors that play into shooter games. It's evolved a ton over the years and this is something you definitely want to hear if you're into the shooter games!
