About this episode
In days of yore parents used fairy tales to invoke images of wild-eyed monsters to keep their children away from the very real ravenous beasts that dwelt in dark corners of our world. In the 20th century, as many wild places were tamed and once apex predators were driven away in droves, belief in these bellicose beasts began to fade. But, in the summer of 1987, one unfortunate French boy would find that—despite everything he had been taught—monsters were all-too real.
