25. Insanely Clever Classroom Attention Getters From Real Teachers
About this episode
Happy 25th episode, my friends! This is a huge milestone for me and I’m so excited to be celebrating with you! I’ve mentioned it before, but I love doing this podcast, bringing you relevant and effective content, and connecting with my community of listeners. We’ve got some exciting things coming up and it really wouldn’t be possible with all of you, so thank you!
This is a fun episode I have planned for you because the topic is fun, but I also incorporate suggestions and examples from my listeners, which I love doing. In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing some insanely clever classroom attention getters from real teachers for you to use this school year.
Just imagine your classroom, full of students, busy working on a group project, there’s lots of talking and moving around, but you need to get their attention to share some important information. How do you do it? Just saying, “Class, I need your attention” or trying to yell over them are both ineffective. That’s where classroom attention getters come in!
Classroom attention getters are a way to quickly engage students and get their attention back to you or another task at hand. While most of you probably use attention getters, it might be time to add to your toolbox and change your attention getters more frequently throughout the year. Throughout the episode, I share six categories of call and response attention getters to use in your classroom. Some are traditional call and response, while others incorporate music, movement, or no words at all.
Looking for fun and new attention getters this school year? This is the episode for you! With suggestions from our community and ideas from others, your classroom attention getters toolbox will be overflowing and guaranteed to get the attention of even the loudest and largest group of students!
