Professor Emeritus Gerald Steinberg was born in London in 1950, grew up in San Francisco and came to Bar-Ilan University in 1982 as a professor of political science. When he founded NGO-Monitor in 2002, he began to scientifically investigate the flow of European funds to pro-terror NGOs. In a conversation with Maya Zehden, he explains the background and abysses behind it. It was only in the aftermath of October 7, 2023 that governments began not only to acknowledge the disturbing results of his work, but also to act. NGO-Monitor, based in Israel, is a globally recognized research institute. It publishes fact-based research and independent analysis on non-governmental organizations (NGOs), their funders and other stakeholders, primarily in the context of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The institute's funding comes exclusively from private donors and foundations. There is no government funding. Es veröffentlicht faktenbasierte Untersuchungen und unabhängige Analysen zu Nichtregierungsorganisationen (NGOs), ihren Geldgebern und anderen Interessengruppen, hauptsächlich im Zusammenhang mit dem arabisch-israelischen Konflikt. Die Finanzierung des Instituts kommt ausschließlich von privaten Spendern und Stiftungen. Es gibt keine staatliche Förderung.
