18. Bella Cameron - Crochet Your Way to Love!

She was one of the brightest. Straight A's. Loved to study. Loved to do well in her exams, BUT ... She just didn't fit in. The body was frumpy and the Queen Bees even called her 'bloated'. The mental and personal anguish Bella Cameron felt as a 15 year old was enormous and slowly began to dominate her existence. By the age of 24, Bella's eating disorder preferred a day-stay in bed rather then attending a University lecture. Her world began to crumble.

It was time to UNLEARN!

Inspired by sound therapeutic guidance, Bella started to let go of the things that society had taught her and in the process discover the creative ways of the beautiful child within her that once played so joyfully. While others now define their lives by the amount they can cram into a single day or by their status and accumulating success, Bella values space ... space in her day. She values time to crochet. She sees it as a form of meditation and an opportunity to keep 'thoughts of the past' at bay. She treks with nature. To her, life is now a game of climbing ladders! It is more about maximising the current moments.

I regard this as one of the best episodes yet. It is a story about 'how society can get in the way' if we let it. It is a lesson in how to convert pain and chaos into a greater capacity to love, if we want it. It is a story of courage to be true self and not let anyone define you. It is the story of 29 year old Bella Cameron, who crochets and in the process has discovered a wisdom beyond her years.
