On March 28th, 18 protesters got pinched outside New Scotland Yard for showing support to Palestine action during a rally there. This went down on Saturday at the Metropolitan Police Headquarters, just days after cops announced they'd ramp up arrests for anyone backing the band group. Back in February, a high court ruling went against the government's terror ban on the group, so the met dialed back on arrests at first, saying they'd just collect evidence instead. But on March 26th, they switched gears, wanting folks to get nabbed again while the government's appeal drags on for months. Deputy Assistant Commissioner James Harmon made it clear they got to enforce the current law, no matter what. Since the ban kicked in last year, over 2,700 arrests have piled up nationwide, with trials paused amid the legal mass and up to 14-year sentences on the line for convictions. Police are holding those 18 in custody as the crackdown rolls on.
