About this episode
Rich Tu is a first generation Filipino American and I am not.
Well I am first generation though. Malaysian American, which is kind of the first time I’ve ever said that.
Rich is a Creative Director, Designer, Illustrator, and artist who has held roles at MTV, ViacomCBS and Nike.
Rich has a podcast called First Generation Burden which focuses on diversity within the creative industry.
I first met Rich when he showed up to our Dahsar release in collaboration with type foundry, Commercial Type held in Soho, when I sold him a T-Shirt from that collection. Little did I know we had legends in the building.
Rich sported the Dahsar T-Shirt in the Uniqlo campaign and it’s there is also a photo of him rocking it on the bio of his website.
Rich does talks all over the world, has artist representation with Sunday Afternoon agency, and has won many awards as a designer.
This is the First Generation Burden podcast offshoot.
