The Fantasy Football Club with Sal Vetri — 10 Moves to Make AFTER You Draft Your Fantasy Team. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
If you're drafting a fantasy football team, you're in the perfect place because in this video we're gonna talk about the 10 key moves you need to make after you draft your team to set yourself up for success right away in week one A lot of people just draft their team and then they wait until week one and honestly that is probably your biggest mistake Yes, the draft is important, but these 10 tips are just as important Now tip number one I want to talk to I actually put out a tweet about this recently You want to set up a weekly calendar reminder every Tuesday night because what happens on Tuesday night in the fantasy football world? Waivers, now week one there's probably gonna be some big names on there and you'll remember Week two you'll probably be remembered but by the time week three comes we have work family relationships other commitments events on Monday and Tuesday nights Where we're gonna forget about the waiver wire it only takes 60 seconds we could do it together right now open your phone head into reminders set a reminder for Tuesday night repeating at 7 p.m. For waivers, so you remember in week seven when you're kind of forgetting about fantasy football and other obligations are happening to set your waivers I mean Michael Wilson was a league winner mid season last year a lot of people probably missed out simply put you Don't want to be the guy who forgets about waivers in your league because that could be the difference between finishing in last place making the playoffs and having an actual chance to win your
League tip number nine is right when your draft ends add one to two players immediately and place them in your IR spot now if you did this even better within your draft And if you haven't drafted yet, this is important This is one of my drafts one of my homeligs my fiance's family league the reigning champ right big Sally saucy spirals with my last round Pick outside of a defense I picked Zach Charbonne knowing damn well that he wasn't gonna start the season healthy He's currently on the PUP list the first four weeks will be out But he's immediately going in my R.I.R. slot and the strategic piece there is once that draft ended I just went and picked somebody up so Zach carbon is in my IR and I immediately got another player on my roster So charbonne is one of these he was recently put on the physically unable to perform list meeting him as at least the first four weeks There are some other players on that short term IR PUP list you could see right here James Connors on it Christian Kirk Jordan Tyson these are all names that you can just go right now even if you don't think anything of Christian Kirk Why not just roster an extra guy maybe Mike Evans gets hurt during the season the John Stribbling doesn't pay off And then in week five Christian Kirk is stepping into a top two role in this offense I think it's unlikely, but why not just have that free play in your IR spot tip number eight is you want to stash a potential Lee winner before week one kicks off and it really depends on what your waiver wire looks like
I mean we talked about recently in a video Jonah Coleman He's available in 70 to 80% of fantasy leagues right now Jonah Coleman is somebody who I think could be a potential league winner as soon as week one Like I think Jonah Coleman is the R.B.1 if J.K. Dobbins gets hurt Dobbins is miss at least five games each of the last four years during that stretch He's averaging like 10 misgames per season. I think we'll be Jonah Coleman I don't think RJ Harvey is the same 220 plus pound profile like Coleman who's had a good camp Coleman who in college is at a thousand Yard season who last year was pretty solid as well and somewhat limited action and a split back field caught 31 balls He can kind of do it all he has the size and the red zone as well and nice Nimble with size and power. It's a good combination for him and he's on a depth chart where like if J.K. Dobbins miss time I think Coleman actually jumps Harvey Harvey would still be the passing down back most likely But he jumps Harvey as that early down grinder red zone back on a really good team now These are the types of things that if it happens week one if Dobbins goes down weeks one or he leaves early And now there's a question and Jonah Coleman's gonna go for a hundred percent of fab on the way wire Why not just stash him right now and if nothing happens after the first couple of weeks Well, then you can cut bait another example of the wider seer position would be Caleb Douglas who as of this recording right now
Is available in over 90% of fantasy leagues if you're not familiar He's a third round rookie for the Miami dolphins last year. I believe that Texas tech he goes out there And he has 800 yard season backs back years averaging about a 20% target here since that time and he has a very unique build Not only is he over 200 pounds six foot four kind of like your tea Hayens type of a build like these long lengthy receivers With some size to them he also has elite speed four three nine speed top 10% speed scored solid catcher Adiace as well and now apparently he's having a good camp in their preseason game He was like the wider super one on this team So he should be going out there and looking like potentially definitely a starter like let's look at the Miami depth chart Because oh my god after cut downs this past week after the third preseason game Sunday Monday cut downs look at who Miami currently has on their All we knew their wider seaver room was gonna be gross Do we think it would be this gross entering week one they traded away two two out well back to the Rams They're starting wider severs right now or Jalen tolbert like a number three to four wider seaver for the Cowboys since he was drafted as a third round pick years ago Caleb Douglas who I think is the wider seaver one slot wider seaver Millique Washington Who is the most experienced player on this team and he doesn't have much experience there? He's mostly a slot guy Chris Bell who's a third round picked for them a lot of upside
But he is coming off of a 20 CL should be ready for week one and Kevin Coleman another rookie that they drafted Three out of their five players are rookies and nobody on this team has ever been approved and started in the NFL if Caleb Douglas is They're saying he's the guy in camp right now He's a wider seaver one that's available at 90 percent of wavewires How are we at least not stashing him and seeing what happens if he sucks week one if the offense looked terrible Heck if he's the wider seaver for somehow you just drop him But if he gets seven targets week one why not just have him on your team already Now before we keep going whether you've already drafted all your fantasy teams or not the fantasy blueprint will help you win your leagues this year What is the fantasy blueprint? It is my proven system to help you win your leagues It's helped over 10,000 people win more the last few years alone and helped me when 75% of my homeligs including the flocc league The biggest fantasy league on the entire planet if you haven't drafted yet They'll be drafting tools in there But if you've already drafted well most of the tools are actually for in season from week one to championship week Whether it's waivers trades start sits projections one-on-one questions with me a bunch of notes on every fantasy relevant player and a whole bunch more If you want to learn more about the fantasy blueprint the tools that I use in every single one of my leagues To win 75% of them $10,000 a first flocc league last year right whatever it is took my family to Italy was amazing
There's a video here on join the blueprint.com There's a bunch of other information as well that basically just breaks down Is this a right fit for me what would I be getting is my league the right format for this like why is it worth it A bunch of testimonials from real people you could see right here as well This is that join the blueprint.com you can check it out right now if you've already had your draft great bunch of tools in there For you if you haven't well then you get the drafting tools and the NCs and tools and you'll also have those tools for next year as well If you sign up right now tip number seven is find the best defense to stream week one now Obviously the best defenses in fantasy are not going to be available your Broncos your Texans your Seattle Seahawks But if you start to look at the schedule for week one and I'm a big believer in just streaming the position Just put a dollar or two fab one percent two percent or less of your fab every single week on these defenses a lot of the time She can get them for free if you want when I start looking at some of the matchups here one matchup that immediately stands out to me As I scroll through all these is the Cowboys in prime time against the Giants like you have a Giants team that is going to go out there Be relatively inexperienced right you're gonna have a new play caller out there We don't know how that's going to go in that situation Jackson starts obviously so much on experience Malik neighbors who knows if he'll be fully healthy your number two option is maybe a rookie a third round rookie receiver or Isaiah likely like
I think the Cowboys who have invested so much in this defense by the way not only Caleb down to might be one of the best players That is position already before we've been stepping on a football field defensive lines been improved in general This should be a better defense in prime time I think they're going to be ready for that division on matchup they're available in over 70% of leagues I love that there's also the Bears defense which surprisingly they're available as of this recording in over 70% of fantasy leagues Even though they're facing a veck Carolina Panthers with arguably one of the worst quarterback situations in the NFL Definitely a bottom 10 offensive what you're going to look at here like if Chuba Hubbard is healthy week one a split back field of Hubbard and Jonathan Brooks is maybe their best attack other than of course what you're gonna get out of Tadaro Macmillan But I'm sure that's gonna be the Bears game plan to take him away because after that there's absolutely nobody left So the Chicago Bears the Cowboys I would go Cowboys first then bears in that order That's where you should look be looking at for streaming matchups if you really wanted to like if you're in a deep roster like maybe Have six or seven bench spots a lot of you don't but if you did you could even look ahead to next week and see if you could Stash and other defense the stream tip number six is you want to look for uncertain backfields that could provide some clarity in week one Now what do I mean by this? Well, let's look at some of these uncertain backfield situations. We can scroll down
I mean Jacksonville would be a clear one right by shout-out to and Chris Rodriguez splitting the work in camp if for some week We a reason week one two and came out and just saw 16 of the 20 backfield carries and was to clear rb1. That's a pretty big difference right? I mean you could probably drop Chris Rodriguez But what if Chris Rodriguez was the one going out there and seeing 14 carries in week one to two and only seeing seven carries and Rodriguez actually look good while Rodriguez is available in 50% of waiver wires right now actually 52% of this as of this recording you might as well try and go stash him same thing for teams like Tennessee like Tony Pollard should be the army one Tadaro Spears had a nice camp and preseason apparently Why not stash him if it looks like it's clear cut Tony Pollard week one You just drop spears you just drop Chris Washington if it was to in a clear cut week one There's a lot of other backfields like this I mean RJ Harvey Jonah Coleman we talked about earlier We could see with the rb2 situation looks like there some of the bigger backfield situations is gonna be like the giants like cam Scatabo I want to see with the tyron Tracy and then Najee Harris usage looks like there I'm not really interested in Tracy or Najee, but just more so to see is Cam Scatabo potential sell high or sell candidate Najee if he really was like involved seriously
Do you have to consider him for waiver wires? There's the Washington backfields probably the biggest one for me like Rashad white Djokorey Krasky merit these guys are usually drafted in most leagues. How does that backfield unfold? These are situations where you can start to stash some players So we can look at Carolina's backfield we can especially Carolina right with Chuba Hover and Jonathan Brooks Carolina Washington Jacksonville some more depth situations as well like Denver Where can we stash some guys who week one we're gonna get a lot of clarity and if that clarity is positive for us We already beat the waiver wire if it's negative for us We just cut them there was no risk tip number five is you want to drop your backup quarterback in tight end and add an extra one to two running backs and wide receivers instead Now obviously there's some clarity here like if for some reason you drafted two great tight ends like Brock Bower's early and then you still double tap Kyle pits That would be a bad draft strategy in my opinion But if you did probably don't draft Kyle pits for some or drop Kyle pits for some of these names But I'm talking about like don't hang on to mark Andrews if you already have a Tucker craft right Or don't hang on to I don't know hunter Henry if you already have another decent tight end like these waiver wire tight ends Because some of the running backs available right now are over 50% of fantasy leagues Woody Marx is currently available and 55% of fantasy leagues only roster and 45% according to Yahoo
That's fantastic Tyler Aljir who as of right now like Jeremiah Love might not be playing week one A James Connors on IR Tyler Aljir might actually be the starting running back for the Arizona Cardinals to start the year with Jeremiah Love dealing with a high ankle He's available in 55% of leagues Taj A Spears we talked about tank bigsby who would instantly become a top 12 running back if stay con ever missed time Which he's done in multiple seasons of his career to ankle and knee injuries You can see there's a bunch of white a bunch of running backs Coleman. We already talked about him If you go to the wider see for position Obviously even more options since three wider receivers are going to start for most teams And there's some good names here. Rashid Shahid should take a step forward this year Khalia Shakir has caught 70 plus balls from Josh Allen the last two years Danzo ball center rookie with a lot of hype trade Tucker the number one for his own team Jacobi Lane's popping off although I don't really believe in it for Baltimore You can just see here a lot of these guys have way more either stable floors for you know decent flex options Or a lot of upside shots you can take on some of these names and just see what happens week one as opposed to just keeping a Baker mayfield your quarterback to one your bench. What is that doing for you? Now before we keep going I've got something to tell you because I've teamed up with draft kings and you're gonna want to hear this because they just dropped The biggest fantasy football contest in the history of the sport
We are talking about a 20 million dollar best ball prize pool where three different people are gonna walk away millionaires this year Now look if you've never played best ball no worries here's what you need to know you draft your team one time in that sit No setting lineups no waiver wire no Sunday morning panicking your top scores automatically count every week You're basically getting a fun sweat all season long with your team and players without having to lift a finger or do any work after the draft Now here's the part you don't want to miss draft kings is running a draft one get one offer right now All customers enter a lineup into the 20 million dollar bestball headliner contest for $25 and get a bonus ticket for a second entry That basically means you have two shots at your share of 20 million dollars And maybe being one of those three people who will become a millionaire so all you have to do now is download the draft kings apps Sign up with promo code sal and get your lineups in before the season kicks off and partnership with draft kings the crown is yours Now tip number four is you want to make a list of by low trade candidates for week one now a really good candidate for this would be Somebody like DJ Moore you look at DJ Moore He's now a member of the Buffalo Bill should be their clear cut wide receiver one fantasy drafts that are still happening right now
He's going as the 51st overall player so much almost a top 50 player He's a fifth round pick and most drafts out there. He's Josh Allen's number one wide receiver He's attached to Josh Allen. It makes a lot of sense right like people are hoping he could be the new Stefan digs Even though I don't think he says talented. He's a little bit older than when digs joined this team either way like week one He has to face the Texans probably the best secondary at worst the top three most likely top two secondary in the NFL And what is their biggest threat going to be? Oh are we concerned about banged up Clio Shakir or we are concerned in the passing game about DJ Moore the outside wide receiver Who can actually beat us for explosive to the 20 plus yards the Texans were the best team defense in the NFL limiting explosives last year I expect that this year as well. So DJ Moore expect the stinker week one which means that's exactly when you can go out there Maybe get a by low for him like as of right now We value him full season the market does as a top 50 borderline top 50 overall player So what if you can by law on him? What if you drafted somebody a couple of rounds later and we can scroll over here His former TJ teammate Roma dunes a maybe he has a decent week one in a softer matchup You could just do the flip right there. Maybe you go down even more in like a parker Washington who everybody loves in fantasy
He has a nice 12 13 point game, you know five catches 70 yards in week one of the fantasy season And DJ Moore is going out there for two catches 20 yards Maybe you make that flip quick flip a quick by low on DJ Moore identify those players now So your priors are already set so once the time comes you don't think emotionally like he stinks I want to get I want to get rid of him if he's on my team or I'm not gonna try and trade for him No understand now that he's going into a tough matchup He's not expected to have a good game make that by low list right now number three is to create a plan for your early season waiver wire budget Honestly, this one is pretty straightforward for me like you don't want to just be blowing your waiver wire budget Especially on the tight end the quarterback or the wider receiver position You want to save your waiver wire budget for those meaningful league winning potential running backs I mean these are already the guys that we've been talking about I mentioned them earlier the running backs currently on waivers available Over 50% of leagues what he marks would definitely be that with an aging running back in Dave among comeery I had of him a good defense where they should be playing in closer leading game scripts Uh, obviously Tyler was here. I can't believe he's that available tank big B would definitely be that This is a player that you should be getting right now like in terms of waiver wire budgets
You should not be trying to ever blow it on somebody who just has like a spike week for like trade Tucker last year at the Raiders He had that big game with Geno Smith 100 yards of touchdown or two you should have blow your waiver wire budget 40% 20% on that Save it for when somebody like say quan goes down better yet stash them if you can But if you don't have the roster spot and then you could literally unload the entire clip 100% or more you could have the most fab in your league And just bully the league like you can do in poker when you have the most money bully the league there and just say yeah You're not gonna be able to the next closest guy has $70 in this league because you've been spending it on tight ends and Dusty wider receivers with one week upside Yeah, I'm gonna just go out there and put $80 on tank bays being nobody can afford them right things like that Taj A Spears a little less so right we want to clear number ones Which in my opinion woody marks would be Tyler out here would be tank bays be would be I do have a handcuffed ranking tiers for all 32 teams in the fantasy blueprint tank bays be These guys are number in the number one tier you can check it out once again if you haven't already at join the blueprint dot com tip number Two is you want to identify your early season trade partners now I want to pull up my team from the flock league here just as an example of this like I may team that based on this recording Maybe I'll make a trade by the time this video goes out in a day or two based on this recording
You could see right here. I got my onesie position jaden daniels I'm basically just gonna be waver wiring and hopefully trading for somebody's tight end to at tight end But I'm a obviously a more wider see for heavy team I only have three running backs on this team just like last year when I went christian McAfry Jonathan Taylor and remandress tevenson I'm leaning on my two early picks when I first three picks in this draft and brisol and Gibbs And you can see I'm heavy at wider seaver So if a team ever had a catastrophic injury or two at wider seaver I have the ability to say hey I have a bunch of wider severs like my wider seaver for dk meccaf is a potential number one on his team My wider seaver five jaden read and six clear shakir and even seven Rashid jahid are the clear cut in my opinion number two wider severs on their teams at least upside wise So I can make some sort of a trade here So you want to identify your trade partners for that team specifically there where I'm wider seaver heavy and thin at running backs It's not gonna make sense for me to try and trade with another team whose wider seaver heavy and thin at running backs We're never gonna see like a value alignment there like here's a perfect example This is the exact same league the flock league and zack ended up drafting I would say a somewhat balanced but definitely leans more running back heavy team here as you could see
He only drafts five wider severs one of those is Caleb Douglas who we've talked about multiple times in this video But again like we're not expecting him to be extremely fantasy relevant right away So really like for proven wider severs and a bunch of running backs like his running back for somebody that I would like to have on my team Remondress Stevenson zack charmer. He's gonna be in an ir spot Maybe he down the stretch something happens there So let's just say that Luther burn gets a re-injury here in dj more He ends up missing some time right? I'd like if two players on this team at some time Zach becomes really thin at wide receiver having to maybe start Caleb Douglas and Jordan Addison as top two or three options That's where I can make some sort of a deal like hey, I've DK Mekka if you might not like DK Mekka But you need that type of player Maybe we do a swap for a remondrae Stevenson something along those lines identify those trade partners now Maybe start some discussions now so you have that grounding going and tip number one is you want to find one to two Reliable sources for your weekly fantasy tips now if you want to go crazy You can find a third or fourth if you're really into this stuff But the less the better in my opinion just less noise out there Obviously I'm one of them right here at this YouTube channel You can follow me on twitter at sell but your dfs But there are a bunch of other good analysts that do this of course There's all the guys in the flocc league one simple tip for you if you do have twitter
Just to avoid all the endless brain rod and like you know fake accounts that are just getting each other rage Bated on there you can make a list I have lists available right now like this is my 2023 fantasy embedding list I just haven't renamed it but I've been using it for years I just put specific people there's 52 people that I've put on this list So I can curate my own feed. I have a daily fantasy one I have a fantasy news one which is going to have like you know specific accounts like the underdog news account Zane Dahani who we've shown on this channel a bunch 32 beat writers like just to get concise information that I want fantasy bedding related news related I don't have to just scroll aimlessly on twitter and get stuck in a loop of just a brain So there you go These are 10 tips to do immediately after you draft to set yourself up to have the best season You just have to do a lot of these things once set it and forget it and you're good to go and by the way If you already drafted There's probably a ton of players some of which we've talked about in this video that are available on the way for why I right now So check out this video right here if you want to see the running backs It you'd need to add before we go on instead of some of those picks that you spent in like round 12 or 13 in your league Add these guys instead
