You can say:

Even though I am not a very extroverted person, I do like to talk to people. You can always learn something new from talking to people. I won’t say it is easy to start a conversation with a stranger, but it’s not a big problem for me, honestly. When meeting new people, I’m not always the person who breaks the ice and strikes up a conversation. But if the person seems approachable, then I will absolutely spend more time talking. Otherwise, it would be pretty awkward to hold a conversation with a person who is unwilling to talk.
