ヴォルフガング・アマデウス・モーツァルト（1756年1月27日 – 1791年12月5日）はオーストリアの音楽家である。古典派音楽の代表であり、ハイドン、ベートーヴェンと並んでウィーン古典派三大巨匠の一人である。
「オリジナルな曲を書こうなんて、これっぽっちも考えたことはない」「みなさんが私に認めてくれる才能は、あるお守りのおかげだと思っています。そのお守り、それは勉強です」ともいうモーツアルトの言葉は「独創」とは何かを考えさせる。まったくの独創、オリジナルは存在しない。大天才・モーツアルトにしてこの言葉なのだ。過去の人々の積み上げの上に、勉強してさらに少し積み上げることを独創というのだろう。
