the weekly wag with the Humane Society of Huron Valley as we introduce you to another pet looking for a loving home joining us is the director of communications at hshv Wendy well to is our pet this week. Hi Lucian it's narwhal narwhal is a cat though so not a narwhal lately we are into naming animals after other animals. I think last week we had to right so yes we're working on it. Wait am I the only one that had to look this up to find out that narwhal is a whale. I must be the only one I had no idea. If you had a first grader Lucian you would definitely know. I wish I did. Oh my goodness so narwhal how to this cat look like a whale I mean how does this happen? Yeah well he's great white. He's reminiscent of that but he is tiny so not quite in that respect. He's only about eight pounds and is about seven years old and he is a riot.

I can say this because he is in our administrative offices at the Humane Society of Huron Valley right now and because he has FELV. I think that's a good thing about that. I think that's a good thing about that. Which folks out there should know is contagious to other cats but not to any other species not to humans. And what it means is probably his life will be shortened. So instead of living you know 20 25 years he might live less than that. But somehow I swear all of us agree to the fact that these cats somehow know that their life is shortened and they pack everything in. So he's like full of life and they're just a riot. He plays all the time. Well he plays hard and sleep hard. So someone's going to love him so much and I sort of don't want to talk about him because I sort of don't want him to be adopted. He needs a good he deserves a good. So he's seven years old now and what's a normal lifespan of a cat that has Feline leukemia positive. It depends on if they get it when they are kittens or if they get it when they're older.

So chances are he will live. There's a total guess but maybe you know 12 years might be more like his lifespan from what we can see. But you know there's a chance that he could live longer than that or shorter than that. And you know it has to do with taking good care of him too. So but just know that he is just a lover cat. May I ask what what that is like at end of life for a Feline leukemia positive cat. Yeah. Yeah. Similar to any end of life actually. Okay. So yeah a lot of times cats will end up with kidney issues. And that is a very common one. And so yeah he. Yeah he will. Chances are fade out that way. But yes. I'm going to talk about that. I know. But you know I think it's important for people to know what they're getting into too.

So so seven and this could be a really good quality fun next few years with this kitty cat. And I think that that's what you could be proud of. I think that's one of the best. You know you have to find more of a kind of a pet. So you can get out of that. Now I've got to think of a pet right now. I think that's a good question. You know the cat in our wall. Because he is a lot of fun. So what kinds of things does he do? What is he like? Yes. Oh my gosh. He loves to play with all the toys that we have going on there. So we have like a motion driven toy that he goes bananas for. He loves playing with his other FLV positive friends to two. So you'll see them run around. Well, I'm so glad to hear that there are other cats that he can play with and I hadn't thought of that that if you If they also have this it would be okay for them to be together Absolutely absolutely. Yeah, and I love each other They snuggle with each other in our office. So yes, so we have other other Feel the positive cats to so and you know, I know not everyone out there, you know once an animal who lives to be 25 22 years old, you're right? So yes, so this this can benefit those folks
