#084 Pre Marathon Catch Up

Earlier this year Alex, James, Ernie and I ran into some trouble whilst on a canoeing trip in Scotland. In fact, we almost lost our lives to a famous body of water called Loch Ness! 

A few days after the event we sat down to talk about our experience in an episode of the podcast called 'Always Prepare For The Worst'. The episode proved extremely popular and is one of the most downloaded episodes to date, it also raised awareness for being prepared when heading out for a walk, run, ride or whatever adventure you choose.

If you have listened to the episode you would know that the RNLI played a huge part in saving our lives. We were in the water for approximately 45-50mins. James and Alex were rushed to hospital in separate police cars whilst I was air lifted from the water and taken directly to hospital with hypothermia and in severe shock. If it wasn't for the RNLI and such services we would not be here today, they acted perfectly and efficiently to save our lives. 

The RNLI is run entirely on donations and by volunteers so, we thought it was only fair to do something out of our comfort zones to raise some money for this incredible service. After all, you never know when you or a loved one might need to count on these services...
