037: White House on the Hill with Jake and Becky

I’ve said it before and it’s certainly said a lot in the homestead world, chickens are the ultimate gateway animal.  For many, the first time they got a few laying hens in the backyard was the point at which they would say they first started their homestead journey.  For my wife and I, it all started with 4 hens and 2 ducks and only grew from there as we forged ahead on our path.  We had to start somewhere and, while due to lack of experience that first backyard flock sadly didn’t last us very long, we learned valuable lessons that we would apply to our every expanding homestead journey.

In today’s episode, I welcome Jake and Becky who share how they got their start on their journey with 6 hens on a rented one acre homestead.   Things really took off from their as they grew their flock, outgrew their first homestead and began building a very successful YouTube channel called “White House on The Hill”.
