William P. Clements

William P. Clements was an American politician who served as the 34th Governor of Texas from 1973 to 1979. He was a Republican and a conservative who implemented several reforms during his tenure, including the creation of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers. Clements was born on July 22, 1917, in Dallas, Texas, and died on September 30, 1999, in Dallas, Texas. He is best known for his leadership as Governor of Texas and his role in the creation of the Texas Rangers.
