William Desobry

William Desobry was a US Army officer who served during World War II. He was the commander of Team Desobry, a unit of 400 troops and 15 Sherman tanks that was assigned to capture and defend Noville, France. Desobry's unit faced significant odds, including a Panzer division, and suffered heavy losses. Despite this, they were able to hold off the German advance and give the Allies time to prepare defenses for Bastogne. Desobry's actions during the Battle of the Bulge have been recognized as heroic and have been the subject of several books and documentaries.
