Wrongfully convicted and exonerated
Walter Lomax was a wrongly convicted man who spent 39 years in prison. He was eventually exonerated and became an advocate for prison reform. Lomax worked with other inmates to lobby for a bill that would end Maryland's unique system of parole oversight. He was a key figure in the fight to strip the governor's power to overturn parole decisions.
