Belarusian politician and human rights activist
Vitali Silitski is a Belarusian politician and human rights activist who was born in 1970 in Minsk, Belarus. He studied economics at the Belarusian State University and later earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oxford. Silitski was a key figure in the opposition movement in Belarus and served as the head of the European Union's election observation mission in Belarus in 2004. He was also the head of the Center for Liberal Democracy and Human Rights, a think tank based in Brussels. Silitski has been a vocal critic of the Lukashenko regime and has been forced into exile several times. He is currently based in the United Kingdom.
