Apostle of the Poor
Vincent de Paul was a French Catholic priest and founder of the Congregation of the Holy Family. He was born in 1581 in Pouilly-le-Morlay, France and was sold into slavery at a young age. Despite his difficult circumstances, de Paul went on to become one of the most powerful saints of France. He was a defender of the faith and worked tirelessly to help the poor and marginalized. De Paul died in 1660 and was canonized as a saint in 1737.
