Роберт Кох

Роберт Кох was a German microbiologist and Nobel laureate. He is best known for his discovery of the bacterium that bears his name, which is responsible for syphilis. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1905 for his work on the germ theory of disease. He was born in Germany and spent most of his career at the University of Leipzig.
