Tarek El-Awady is an Egyptian activist, writer, and researcher. He is a prominent voice on LGBTQ+ issues in Egypt and has written extensively on the topic of AIDS and its impact on the community. El-Awady has worked with several organizations, including the Egyptian AIDS Society and the International AIDS Society. He is based in Cairo, Egypt.
