Shirin Ebadi is an Iranian human rights activist and Nobel laureate. She was born in 1950 in Tehran, Iran, and grew up in a traditional Muslim family. She became a lawyer and human rights activist, and was imprisoned by the Iranian government for her work. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003.
