Sydney Poitier

Sydney Poitier was a Bahamian-American actor, director, and civil rights activist. He was the first Black person to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, which he received for his role in the 1963 film 'Lilies of the Field'. Poitier was a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement and worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr. He was also a successful businessman and philanthropist. Poitier was born in 1927 in Miami, Florida, and passed away in 2022. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time.
