Sue Townsend

Sue Townsend was a British author, comedian, and actress. She is best known for creating the character Adrian Mole, which has become a cultural icon. Townsend was born in Leicester and grew up in a poor but not deprived background. She began writing at a young age and published her first novel, The Love-Object, in 1970. Townsend went on to write several successful novels, including The Queen of Hats and Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years. She was also a comedian and appeared on various TV shows.
