Theoretical physicist and cosmologist
Sir Stephen Hawking was a renowned British theoretical physicist and cosmologist who made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of black holes and the origin of the universe. He was born in 1942 in Oxford, England, and studied physics at the University of Oxford. Hawking was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease at the age of 21 and was given only a few years to live. However, he defied the odds and lived for more than 50 years with the disease. Hawking was a prolific author and wrote several bestselling books, including 'A Brief History of Time'. He was a fellow of the Royal Society and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Albert Einstein Award. Hawking passed away in 2018 at the age of 76.
