Irish monk and missionary
St. Columba was an Irish monk and missionary who lived in the 6th century. He is best known for his work in Scotland, where he converted the Northern Picts to Christianity. Columba was born in Ireland and was educated at the monastery of Bangor. He later traveled to Scotland, where he founded the monastery of Iona and established a Christian community. Columba is also known for his missionary work, which took him throughout Scotland and beyond. He died in 597 AD.
