Sophie Chotek was the morganatic wife of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Their marriage scandalized the Viennese court due to the social and political implications of a union between an archduke and a commoner. Sophie accompanied Franz Ferdinand on many of his travels, including the fateful journey to Sarajevo in 1914.
