Sisonke Msimang is a South African journalist and author. She was born in exile and grew up in a family of freedom fighters. Msimang has written extensively on politics and social justice. She is the author of several books, including 'The Off Season: A Memoir of Coming of Age in the Black Mountains of South Africa'. Msimang has worked as a journalist for various publications, including The New York Times and The Guardian. She has also been a vocal advocate for social justice and human rights. Msimang has received several awards for her work, including the PEN America O. Henry Prize for Best Short Story. She is currently a contributing writer for The New York Times.
