Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was the last monarch of Iran, ruling from 1941 until his overthrow in 1979. He was the son of Reza Shah Pahlavi and succeeded him as the Shah of Iran. During his reign, he implemented various modernizing reforms, but his rule was also marked by repression and human rights abuses. He was overthrown in the Iranian Revolution, which led to the establishment of an Islamic republic in Iran.
