Saint Stephen

First Martyr of the Christian Church

Saint Stephen was one of the seven deacons of the early Christian church. He is believed to have been martyred in ancient Jerusalem. According to Christian tradition, Stephen was stoned to death for his faith. He is revered as the first Christian martyr and is celebrated on December 26th.
