Saint Robert Bellarmine

Saint Robert Bellarmine was a brilliant Catholic theologian and cardinal who played a crucial role in the Counter-Reformation. Born in 1542, Bellarmine was a close follower of St. Ignatius of Loyola and became one of the most outspoken critics of the Protestant Reformation. He was a key figure in the Catholic Church during a time of great crisis and was instrumental in defending the Church's teachings against heresy. Bellarmine was beatified in 1830 and canonized as a saint in 1930. He is still revered today as a champion of Catholic orthodoxy.
