Saint Bernard of Clairvaux was a Catholic priest and theologian who lived in the 12th century. He was born in Dijon, France, and studied at the University of Paris. Bernard became a monk at the age of 15 and later founded the monastery of Clairvaux. He was known for his powerful sermons and his role in the Second Crusade. Bernard was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1175. He is still revered today as a patron saint of many causes, including monasticism and the Catholic Church.
